The Baggage Service agent in CHS was pleasant and helpful.  My best baggage service experience ever.  She located my bag at BWI, had it put on the next flight to CHS, and arranged for it to be delivered to me the next morning.  I received it at 7:45.

I do, I always do -- but this expeience removed me from Planet Jaded for now. Three airline attendants were there for our comfort and saftey upon the midsized Boeing jet. They wheeled snacks and toted blankies and pillows, fielding continual questions while doing so, never stopping for a moment for themselves. I honestly try to fly below the radar and be flexible when it comes to air travel . I try to make things easy on myself with TSA precheck and premium seats but sometimes there are gonna be unpleasant situations with any kind of travel , including air . With American , my flights have been cancelled , delayed , I've been bumped from first class , sat on a tarmac for an hour and more . On a recent experience, we were grounded and delayed for an extra hour because the flight did not have the minimum amount of flight attendants. They finally found one and she happened to end up seated next to me . She told me she was literally a passenger (not working ) on the flight and was approached by American employees who told her the flight would be cancelled if she didn't work it . She basically saved the flight . There's a shortage of employees everywhere due to this covid pandemic and all airlines are effected by this . Weird times . The thing is you have to be your own advocate and don't expect any airline to go the extra mile without being pushed to (even if you have status). Anytime I have brought a shortcoming to their attention , American has done their best to find a fair resolution and right the situation. You must be vocal and firm in requesting whatever resolution you want because most times they will only do the minimum or nothing at all . Pro tip : if your flight is delayed or cancelled you have the right to request a food voucher if you are waiting at the airport - Google it and definitely ask for those vouchers should your flight be delayed . If you require a reasonable accommodation make sure you plan ahead and talk with the attendants so you can have a smooth flight . At the end of the day , we are all human and sometimes life is hard and travel unpleasant but kindness is free . Pass it on and it will come back to you ten fold !

As a passenger traveling in First Class (seat 1F), I approached the gate when Priority boarding was announced. Upon doing so, I was addressed by the gate agent in an unprofessional manner and told that it was not my boarding group. When I attempted to clarify that First Class was included in the current boarding announcement, the interaction remained confrontational rather than helpful. Furthermore, the boarding instructions provided over the PA system were confusing; the agent conflated multiple groups, including those requiring special assistance and Priority/First Class passengers, which led to unnecessary tension at the gate. I believe that mutual respect is essential in customer service, and I was disappointed by the dismissive attitude displayed by this staff member. I trust that you will address this matter to ensure that future passengers receive more professional and clear communication during the boarding process. It is always the African American lady at any airline with a bad attitude.

I got there on time or within 5 min of time. 4.5 stars for that…read more I got there with little or no turbulence (not going to rate this because beyond their control) but ok for us. A small bit. I didn't check my bags so no rating. There was enough storage overhead. I saw some people sitting way in back who had to put their luggage 10 rows before them though. But Everyone got their bags on ok. I had no Karens on my flight. No crying babies. Yay. I had one annoying person playing a game though bring bring bring every two seconds. Eventually someone complained and the person turned down the volume. I am only giving it three stars because I have four legs (two going and two coming) and all FOUR times, I could NOT hear the flight attendants. Nothing they said. They talked toooo fast (four time, four different people all of them trained to talk super fast????) the speaker system is not good? I guess they don't have to work anymore. They pass out ear buds and go with a drink cart on an hour flight? Ridiculous. If people need something as they are dying of thirst they can ask. I don't think you need a drink on an hour flight. Same as always, I am mystified why the back of the planes are never boarded first. Having to walk and bump people 30 rows? Annoying! I get it, you want your first class to feel special. Along with the other EIGHT classes of people they board. If you are not sky miles, comfort plus, first class, business class, gold star, military, disabled, with kids/strollers, and a couple more classes (platinum plus, platinum lol) you are stuck there forever. But as for me, I'd APPRECIATE sitting in the terminal longer than on a crowded disease inflicted claustrophobic plane? But hey charge you 100 or 1000 extra for 2" of leg room or seat width and boarding so early you have to sit there bored out of your skull must be alluring. I will never get that! Anyway, three stars because the flight attendants are not good. They need to speak LOUDER and SLOW DOWN.

Every flight was late. Yes every flight for my entire round trip. The connecting flights all of them. They also provided only water or coffee on the early flights (a soda would have been nice), well at least my flight. They are also very expensive for the comfort+ seating compared to a few years ago. Every flight was also overbooked or either filled to the max from people who had cancelled flights. There is more I could say but I am hoping this was a fluke week of traveling but if it keeps like this, I/ will start checking out other airlines. The positive was that the flight attendants and employees were polite and helpful.

Then we changed planes in Minneapolis. What a nightmare. The gate agent was the most racist hateful person I have ever met. Trust me I don't use these words lightly. She told us we couldn't use our bags that we had clearly used in SLC. Suddenly all of the rules had changed. She also wouldn't let on another white family who she said they didn't have the right paperwork for there dog. They did. I demanded to talk to a Supervisor. Which they supplied. While we waited for them. I noticed that all of the Black Customers were not being held to the same standards. I was So upset by her actions. Flew NYC to Anchorage. I am used to the many air travel problems that can happen but this one was…read morenew. I am a large person and I'll pay to upgrade to exit row seats whenever possible, especially on a long flight. I went on their website and found an exit row seat for me and my wife and paid a lot for the upgrade(~$150 each). The seating diagram clearly showed the seat having extra legroom. But, when I got on the plane, the seat was an exit row seat but in a different configuration that had no extra legroom. I wrote to customer service and their reply was that the Boeing 737 MAX 8 plane has two different configurations and the website showed the wrong one (sorry not sorry) but that the extra cost was justified because it was considered a preferred seat anyway. Be very careful booking row 17 on Alaska Air.
