My previous tax consultant of 20 years passed away in late summer of 2025. I started searching for another tax consultant in Hawaii and I came across Wicklund Financial Services. All the reviews were positive and glowing. I also found other services too. I settled on trying Wicklund Financial Services and have never regretted it. I was concerned because my tax returns involve California, Maryland and Hawaii tax returns. I was concerned that they wouldn't be able to help me. Working with Reyn Wicklund, it was clear he understood how to prepare my tax return. He asked all the right questions and uploading all the documents via Tax Dome securely made things so much easier and faster. It also helped me to organize my tax documents as Tax Dome guides you through the various documents needed as well as give you the opportunity to add additional documents outside of the usual categories. By the way, I don't live in Hawaii. I live in Maryland, but that didn't matter. Reyn was able to complete my tax return remotely in a very timely manner without any problems. Over the past 35 years, we've solicited the help of a number of tax preparers, all by referrals. We've learned about the differing styles of the various CPAs, as some are conservative, interpret tax laws in black and white, or are liberal in their interpretations. As we were looking for a CPA that was liberal in their tax law interpretation and yet within the requirements of the law, our Estate Attorney recommended Tamilyn Masuda CPA to us in 2012, as he was using her and was satisfied with her services. Since 2012, Tamilyn has been our CPA for our tax needs, and we are very satisfied with her. In fact, we consult with her throughout the year, and not only during tax time, as we've consulted with her on the tax effects of purchasing/selling investment property, creating a LLC, looking at retirement account options, estate planning, and tax liability reduction. Tamilyn is very accommodating, as we could call her with questions anytime during the year at no charge. She is friendly, personable, and easy to talk to. We haven't had any problems with our tax returns. I do categorize my receipts and create x-cell worksheets to make it easier for Tamilyn to put things in order. It's also a self-check for me if there is a payment transaction issue that needs to be followed up on. A face-to-face appointment is then made with Tamilyn to go over the worksheets and any issues that we have. We've always have had timely responses in completing our returns, and Tamilyn will call if she needs further clarification or receipts. We request a draft of our return so that we can review the entries and get any clarifications, if needed. Once we give approval, the tax return is finalized by having us sign the documents. With the current Covid-19, however, social distancing required some changes. We were fortunate to have had a face-to-face appointment as we had scheduled it before the procedural changes. Now, all receipts and documents are to be mailed in or dropped into a box just outside the office's front door by calling staff prior to dropping off. They will retrieve them, and Tamilyn will start reviewing them in preparing the tax return. Upon completion, a phone call would be made for you to pick up your return, and sign any documents in the box outside the front door. Local-born Tamilyn has more than 30 years of accounting experience, including 7 years as an IRS Auditor for small businesses. With this knowledge and experience, she started her business, Tamilyn Masuda CPA, as she has the IRS insight not only to assist small businesses, but also to individuals, corporations, partnerships, LLCs, estates, and non-profit organizations. She provides services in bookkeeping, payroll, tax planning and preparation, audit representation, estate planning, and divorce/support issues. She is assisted by her adult daughter, Shauna, who is well equipped with accounting knowledge and experience, and additional staff during the busy times. Tamilyn's office is on the 2nd floor above the Original Pancake House in the Waiakamilo Shopping Center in Kalihi. There is a secured entry, as you will need to call her office on the intercom on the 1st floor at the foot of the stairs. She will buzz you in once you give your name and the reason why you're there. Recycling in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. I've never been to this Redemption Center before, so Irene helped me find it. GPS took me to the side where there's no driveway. We had to go around the block to get to the entrance on Beretania Street. The driveway doesn't really have a sign. The lot is surrounded by a tall chain link fence. The worker was so kind and conversational. He apologized for not being able to pay me for the used glass from religious candles. He suggested that I take them to some industrial area. Well... if he wants to give away the decorative glass containers, he can. Maybe someone wants to use them as vases or pencil holders? Thanks for being so nice!

I don't want to give a recycling center one star since I'm such a believer in recycling and reusing things, but this was a really scary experience! A homeless man was following me around and then an Asian lady who had no front teeth tried to assault me. There seem to be a lack of green buckets, which is where you have to separate your recycling materials. The people there were hoarding all the green buckets. Literally, the lady who tried to assault me had five or six buckets and then cursed at me as I walked by. I didn't feel safe here. Sad because I've been here several times over the past years. I won't come back.

Well I finally decided to recycle my own cans and bottles myself. Being a newbie at this I chose a place that has lots of easy parking and looked clean, unlike a lot of recycle businesses. RRR Recycle in Kapahulu which shares the same parking lot as Side Street Inn is that place I was looking for. They checked all the boxes and was so easy for anyone can recycle. All you have to do is separate the cans, plastics and bottles in the plastic trash bins provided(Green or Grey it doesn't matter). Stand in line with your bins, they take it, weigh or count it your choice and give you your money! $$$. Well it's money I never had, but it was so easy to do that I'll continue to do it. It was fast and you'll feel a whole lot better that you did it.

They were crowded lots of people were waiting I believe they were just finishing their lunch too . This place is very strict they wanted all the caps off from the plastic bottles. I remember way back when it was announced on the news that you can leave the caps on for your plastic bottles for recycling. Oh well I'll be going back to my other place for recycling because they don't care if the caps are on lol .

It was a bit challenging to find a place that's open on a Sunday, but Monster Hi-5 and Tires is open daily from 8am to 5pm! Easy! Just enter and leave on Waialae Avenue... it's a one-way driveway, next to Asahi Grill. No one says anything. I just followed everyone else, poured my cans into a gray trash barrel, moved it forward as the line creeped closer to the weigher, entered my name and number on a form, and collected my money... Simple! And I DID NOT get ripped off! Thank you!

Their skills assessment tests are straight forward and can be taken anywhere online. I was able to get an offer that fitted into my availability schedule, but I turned it town due to the location of where it really is and my overprotective parents being concerned about me working there which is understandable. I'm not going to take out a star or anything like that because they were flexible and knowledgeable too. I'll probably go back to them even when my new semester starts because I am currently looking for a part time job that fits with my school schedule.
