I don't know that much about this stuff but they could answer all my questions and I checked it against what I was learning on the internet. When I deal the people who look for termites, you can usually tell which companies are serious and well trained and which ones just generalize and say they have to spray your whole house and it will cost this much and that spiel. I'd put them in the former category. They gave me specific answers and could almost answer every one of my follow up questions. And I don't mind it if they say they aren't sure about one thing, and consult with someone. The fact that they aren't acting like they know everything on earth tells me, usually, they are being honest. I think they share a background with the person who referred me to them, so I fundamentally trusted them by the end. I spoke with three companies, who came out, and they were clearly the most knowledgeable and appreciated how dangerous this stuff is for me and my wife. I'm still discussing with them and the handy mans's company the whole process of removing it in this one area, so it's not fully resolved. But I feel like I know what the score it and what we need to do.

The water heater didn't even work, yet somehow the inspector missed it--so I spent my first three weeks bonding with cold showers. The warranty company wouldn't cover it since the issue existed before I moved in. On top of that, I had to replace both toilets right away. Somehow they missed that too. Of course, when I contacted them, they denied any responsibility and took zero accountability for their mistakes. After they started the job it was discovered that they were unqualified to remove the ductwork and insulation properly. I wasn't aware that houses built in the 1960's used asbestos and throughout the house. The asbestos needed to be properly removed before any repair work could be performed. However the company gave me the impression that they were skilled and licensed to perform the removal. It was never mentioned to me that specific steps needed to be taken when dealing with asbestos. While removing the damaged ductwork they disturbed the asbestos thus making the house uninhabitable. Tony's company was brought in to perform the test for the asbestos. Asbestos was detected. Tony was very professional and helpful to explain the situation and provided information of what the next step entailed to resolve this matter. The testing report and procedure 5 plan was prepared by Titan. The report and work plan needed to be submitted to the SCAQMD for approval. His knowledge regarding this matter was absolutely first rate. He helped guide me through this difficult process. I would highly recommend employing Tony's expertise if you are ever get involved with this situation. You will be in good hands.

They did not have a diagram in their report showing where their samples were taken , and their report was riddled with errors. Phone calls and emails did not produce results. The bad reviews were correct about this company. My public adjuster insisted on using them. They dragged their feet from the very beginning by a couple of weeks, and again for the report, and now the report is flawed. And no response from the company.

They also offered to leave their containment up (including some temp poles) for the duration of my build-back project. The team was careful of my house during the demo which involved carrying large, heavy pieces of shower glass down some stairs and through some turns. The only downside I found during the process was the need to pay for the site visit for the quote. This payment is credited to the bill and it wound up being a non-issue due to selecting BH environmental for the job, but none of the other companies I had out requested payment for the quoting visit.

None of this process was communicated clearly to us. I appreciate the owner's effort to make it right with a refund of the fee. I wouldn't even recommend requesting an estimate from these people. I wish I hadn't. The star is because someone technically came out. They were the only ones who charged a fee to come out, and their inspector spent a total of maybe 50 seconds in the bathroom that had water damage. The person who came out told us would have an estimate within a day, and no estimate. Unlike the other companies that came out, he made no inquiry about the age of the house or mention of required asbestos testing. Overall, his visit did not inspire confidence that any estimate we did get (if we got one) would be valid or accurate (not require change orders). Maybe the reason why some reviewers say they're cheaper is that they cut corners? (We wouldn't know as we never got our estimate.) We were really dissatisfied even with our (extremely brief) visual inspection experience. Communication with respect to the process was not good (as we don't know what's going on). Clearly my short list selection process failed me here. ETA: Apparently they were waiting on payment for the estimate (no one made clear what this process was), which we finally got, and indeed did not include asbestos testing.
