DO NOT TRUST THESE GOOD REVIEWS FOR AIR-TECH ENVIRONMENTAL. They significantly overcharge but offer to lower the bill if you post good reviews. I was charged $1,415 for a job and found out later that two of Air-Tech's competitors - Safeguard and Core Environmental - do the same job for around $700. Yep. 50% less. My insurance company wouldn't pay so Air-Tech lowered the price by 10% to $1273.50. Still crazy expensive. They offered to reduce the price another 10% if I'd post one good review and 20% if I'd post two good reviews. I refuse to be blackmailed. I'd rather share the truth and hope karma will repay me. Learn from my mistake. Call Safeguard or Core Environmental or any other company. Do not let Air-Tech Environmental take you for a ride. read more

I called on a Monday and they were out testing on Tuesday. We received the report a couple of days later. After it was done, the payment processing was easy. I don't know what makes a good or not so good asbestos testing company but I like how quickly, efficiently and professionally the whole process was handled. read more

The reason for this low rating is their overzealous pursuit of payment. Within a week they were following up on payment, knowing full well that it was an insurance claim. (And the calls frequent). Being displaced from your home is stressfull enough, especially when everything is at a stand still due to delays in insurance payments. I really don't care for the added stress of phone calls for payment. I can't speak of price gouging, because I didn't shop for pricing, only because it was an emergency, but if anyone asked me, I'd caution them on these collection practices. I was referred to Air-Tech Environmental Services from a Water Mitigation Company. When they came out, there was a single sheet document which had no reference to cost associated with the work. Literally spent 20 minutes here taking 2-3 samples of drywall and then upon leaving, asked that I initial the backside of the paper (never noted or discussed previously). What is most disturbing is that they kept referencing billing the insurance and never mentioned that there was a cash price for the work being performing. After the work was completed, they filed a lien against my property for $1400. When I questioned them about it, they said it was customary to do so to protect their business. Long story short, the insurance denied the invoice stating that Asbestos testing was excluded on my policy. Air-Tech said that because they went through the hassle of billing the insurance, they were not willing to give me the cash price and instead only discounted the bill to $1262. This is absurd and price gouging. My other friend had water damage and the company they used did Asbestos and Lead testing for an out the door cost of $450. This company will never tell you about the cash option and I bet they bank on their Court paperwork as a scare tactic to unknowing customers. Please heed my warning and shop around for a more reputable business. By the way... they did offer an additional $100 off if I wrote them a 5-star review, which I gracefully declined. read more

RUN far far away from this unethical business... do not trust Air-Tech. ******** DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY ******** AirTech overcharges for their services and testing -- abusing the California law mandating asbestos test. I did not choose this company. Air-Tech was recommended (highly) by the restoration company (Xact) that also turned out to be one of those businesses that PREY on victims of water damages and pile up charges expecting to get money from insurance companies. *** Do NOT trust *** the 5-star reviews -- most likely paid reviews, that are also illegal per Yelp. *** DO TRUST *** the 1-star reviews by real life people who got taken advantage and ended up paying out of pocket, all because Air-Tech and insurance companies are in cahoot -- don't care what homeowners end up having to pay and face financial hardship. Air-Tech charged $1,218 for asbestos and lead testing -- when the average cost for this service according to industry standards is around $500-600. The day after I received the bill from Air-Tech, I called and spoke to a Rachel and requested a review of the billing. Rachel said she will send me a revised invoice. But Rachel spoke to my insurance and even explained to me that since Air-Tech has a "contract" working daily with my insurance -- long story short, my insurance did not question Air-Tech's higher charges and just paid them in full -- thereby leaving me on my own to come up with extra funds to get the rest of the repair done. Before I wrote this review, I spent all day trying to get hold of Rachel who was supposedly "in charge of my file". She claims "because insurance did not dispute the high charges, she won't revise the billing." In her own words, "we don't give you a **discount** unless the insurance disputes the charges." That was enough to tell me what shady practices goes on at Air-Tech. While my insurance screwed me over (no surprise there...), I guess on the bright side, they did pay the full invoice, so I don't have to worry about Air-Tech putting a lien on my property -- as they did for other Yelpers who reported similar dishonest and shady practices by Air-Tech. Air-Tech has onerous pricing and cancellation policies. Compared to Vert Environmental, Air-Tech charged 57% more for the same service. Their prices far exceed what websites like HomeAdvisor corroborate as being normal. They say they'll charge $300 for cancellation, regardless of how far out the appointment is from the cancellation. They get a point for not including a forced arbitration clause, but their contract contains a unilateral assignment of attorney's fees to the homeowner which is unusually aggressive. Unlike their competitors, they won't send you the contract or prices to review ahead of the technician visit. The restoration company that I'm working with ordered the work from Air-Tech. They ordered testing of the ceilings and walls to be demolished. Air-Tech decided to interpret this as "test the first layer of wallboard by taking chunks out from the surface". By contrast, when I ordered a second test from a competitor because I did not trust Air-Tech's results, the competitor was careful to avoid cosmetic damage by using receptacles to access wallboard cross-sections, sample both layers of wallboard (which were different materials), and sample the insulation behind the wallboard, all of which is obviously necessary to have sufficient confidence in a negative result to proceed with tearing into walls and ceilings. The Air-Tech technician left a mess behind - dust from the walls and paint chips were found on the floor at every one of the sample sites. Given their pricing, one would expect more of a white-glove touch to the service. read more
