The showers were only 2-3 feet of space, dark and uncomfortable to shower in. Hardly any vanity space and the places the toilets were, were well, not the most spacious. We knew eventually we would have to renovate the bathrooms. Well, when we met Yaniv, we hired Shefer Builders to redo our roof. I could tell instantly he was an extremely detailed person. This filters down to the staff. The entire staff!! Talking with Yaniv during the roof project, we decided to have the company redo our bathrooms. This included a 3D designer, and a mobile showroom that came to the house so I could choose all the fun stuff. Everyone is so nice and comfortable to talk to about design and pricing. In addition, the crew and foremans were very helpful in explaining what they were doing throughout the enire projects. As for the kitchen: we had a dishwasher go bad and it leaked water all over including out the back of the house!! Well....perfect time to have Shefer Builder renovate the kitchen!! What a continued blessing to have the crews come back again and help in such a fine way. I have always loved cooking and baking but even more so now with my beautifully desinged, perfectly crafted and functional kitchen!! They give so much attention to the little things I did not even notice! Exceptional quality from everyone!! The crews were hard working, fun and really made the process a joy to experience. We will definately be calling to use them for any further things we need beautified at our home!!

He allowed us to control the design and appliance choices and readily provided in areas we were unsure of (ie, lighting, sources for countertop slabs, etc). He and his team were very responsive over the course of the project from initial consultation through final touch ups and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time given that it was started during the holidays (right before Thanksgiving and finished by New Year's). The area was kept clean and organized, workers courteous and the team communicated with us each step of the way. The final product is exactly what I had envisioned. We will not hesitate to reach out again to update other areas in our house or recommend Shefer.

The…read moreproject involved converting a garage into living space, constructing a new garage, removing load-bearing walls, and relocating the kitchen. Yonathan proved to be an amazing project manager from start to finish. Completing a project of this scale requires placing immense trust in the contractor -- trust that the project will be seen through to the end, that the outcome will be functional, and that any unexpected issues will be handled responsibly. Yonathan understands the level of trust involved and does not take this responsibility lightly. From the first meeting, I found it easy to communicate with Yonathan. He took time to listen and fully understand our vision for the remodel. Throughout the process, he continued to welcome feedback, kept us updated on the project's progress, and notified me about issues that inevitably arise. When issues did surface, he was transparent and proactive about finding viable solutions. When I had questions, he replied promptly. I appreciated his honesty and found him reliable and trustworthy. I also sensed that he always had our best interests at heart. When the city unnecessarily required a new driveway, he advocated on our behalf until the request was revoked. He is well connected and was able to help me source materials from various vendors to help me stay within my budget. With his help, we were able to build an updated space that is more functional and comfortable for our family. We look forward to making new memories and enjoying this new space for years to come!

The entire crew was fantastic. Our project manager, Niv, and foreman, Julio, ran the project smoothly with great expertise. Everything was great until after we signed the contract. At that point, we were handed off to a…read moreproject manager and the experience changed completely. We felt dropped like a hot potato. Communication became poor, follow-through was lacking, and I did not feel that our project was being given the attention it had received before we signed. I ended up spending a significant amount of my own time handling product selections, procurement planning, logistics, and project coordination. I also had concerns about the deposit terms at the beginning of the project. The company initially attempted to collect a larger deposit than I understood California law to allow for a home improvement contract, and I had to push back before the amount was corrected. One of the biggest concerns for me was the permitting process. I contacted both the city and my HOA to verify the status and was told that the required permits/approvals had not been requested at that time. After I raised the discrepancy and did not receive a response, the company proceeded with permit-related activity after I had already communicated that we were cancelling the project. When we ultimately decided not to proceed with the remodel, I notified the company that we wanted to cancel the project. Despite that notice, the company subsequently filed for permits for the project after I had already told them we were cancelling. On 9/3, I spoke with their representative and was told that my $1,000 deposit would be refunded and that we would mutually terminate the contract. After that conversation, they stopped responding. I followed up repeatedly and did not receive a substantive response until 9/10, after I made clear that I would escalate the matter if I continued to receive no response. On 9/10, the company reversed its position and told me that the $1,000 deposit would not be refunded because of work they claimed had already been performed. Their representative then acknowledged in writing that what she was telling me was different from what she had told me during our phone call. I have attached that message to this review so readers can see the company's response directly. The company is now claiming that the entire $1,000 will be retained for work performed. I have requested an itemized accounting and supporting documentation showing exactly what work was performed and the costs they claim justify retaining the full deposit. I strongly dispute their characterization of the amount of work performed, particularly given how much of the product selection, procurement planning, logistics, and project coordination I handled myself. I am continuing to pursue resolution of this dispute. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that anyone considering this company document everything, verify the deposit terms, and get every representation regarding payments, cancellation, and refunds in writing before signing. California generally limits home-improvement down payments to $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, whichever is less, subject to limited exceptions. I would also recommend ensuring that subsequent payments correspond to work actually completed or materials delivered. To date, they have not provided me with an itemized accounting showing what work they contend was completed and the value assigned to that work. Much of the communication and project coordination during this period was initiated by me.

I've worked with many contractors in the past, and a lot of them say "we just want you to be happy", but Gili and his team truly meant it. Firstly, Gili introduced us to one of his designers, who helped us lock-in on a design that satisfied all of our needs. Then, his team provided photorealistic renderings of the space, which were so good that they were in distinguishable from the final product. We knew exactly what we were going to get before any construction started, which was invaluable. Gili's team was extremely coordinated with permitting, material ordering, and work completion. We didn't have materials that we had to store for long periods of time, because they had a strong idea of when we would need to place the orders so that they would arrive right on time. In the Bay Area, where we don't have a lot of space, this was amazingly helpful. The final product was exactly what we wanted, and throughout the process Gili continued to check in and make sure that everything was perfect. We were so happy with the work, that we plan to reach out to clever design for all of our projects moving forward.
