The humidity was unbearable. Our insurance agent first highly recommended a company who did an incredibly poor job, the first company actually caused more financial damage than they helped with. The first company didn't even set up a containment barrier. As a result I did my own research and I called Restoration1 of Grand Rapids for a second professional opinion. I can't imagine my family's well-being if I didn't get this second opinion from Restoration1. What was initially a "completed" $3k repair (by the insurance company's buddy and recommended vendor) turned into a $100,000+ remediation job once Restoration1 of Grand Rapids came in and laid out the facts and documentation to the insurance company. This is why you too should do your own research, and work with a company that isn't a puppet to the insurance company. Restoration1 of Grand Rapids was fair, worked with facts, and acted in good faith. Your family's health is at risk when you are subjected to these kinds of damages and your insurance company may downplay things in the beginning to avoid the realistic responsibilities of doing good quality work, which isn't cheap. It is why we pay insurance premiums and it is contractually intended for these events. Restoration1 saved my family's health from certain mold and also saved our financial future by helping document and support my claim by IICRC standards which many insurance companies state in their declaration pages to guide remediation to properties. From what I have seen, Restoration1 does remediation work by the books and they seem to have water and mold remediation standards memorized extremely well. Our son was a baby at the time of this catastrophe and he was immunocompromised, having breathing difficulty without presence of mold. We were extremely concerned for his safety and we became afraid of our own home. Cody, Kass, and Ryan, along with their extremely hard working staff guided us through the process and educated us on IICRC standards they would work through. Their expertise and ability to stay organized through the lengthy process alleviated our stress and they helped order air mold testing services on two separate occasions to add extra support to the claim against our insurance company and also show improvement for us to feel safe going back into the home. Now, I recommend Restoration1 to literally anyone when I hear the words house fire, storm damage, water damage, flooding, mold remediation, or smoke remediation. They are the professionals and no other company could be better to work with in my opinion. Several hours after this basement claim wrapped up, there was a huge storm (Last August 2023) and a tree went through our roof causing water to go through 3 floors... guess who we called? It was pure stress until calling Ryan, and Kass got on it right away even though there was a huge power outage and blocked roads affecting the county. This time we were more relaxed, having a lot of trust their process and we have the greatest appreciation for the hard work they do. We are nearly wrapped up with this new claim and while I hope we don't need their services in the future, they will be my first call and they have a permanent place in my phone's contact list.

Good start - terrible follow-through!!…read more If our experience had ended with remediation, Paul Davis Restoration would have easily received 5 stars. After our dishwasher leaked on July 17 and caused damage in our home, the remediation team -- Kasey, Logan, Austin, and Eric -- were professional, communicative, and efficient from start to finish. They kept us informed every step of the way, handled the situation with care, and left the space clean when their work was complete. We were extremely satisfied with that portion of the process. Unfortunately, our experience changed significantly when we moved into reconstruction and a kitchen remodel. We were initially assigned a project manager who made repeated promises about timelines that were never met, and communication was extremely difficult. After months of little to no progress, we met a second project manager on October 10 who appeared knowledgeable, but was managing too many projects for consistent oversight. As a result, our project experienced repeated delays with minimal proactive communication. Our basement, which was also damaged, was eventually reconstructed and returned to its original condition. However, that work did not begin until after October 10, which was an unreasonable delay for restoration work. At the same time, our upstairs kitchen -- which was a full remodel -- saw no progress at all. From July 17 through January 9 -- nearly six months -- nothing had been done to rebuild the kitchen. On January 9, we terminated our contract with the kitchen still completely untouched. After termination, we took over as the general contractor ourselves and completed the kitchen in approximately six weeks. This made the lack of progress during the prior six months even more difficult to understand. We were also asked to turn over our insurance payment up front, which we later learned is generally not standard practice. After termination, we were told reimbursement would take 1-2 weeks, but it ultimately took three weeks to receive payment. While the remediation team did excellent work, the reconstruction and remodeling process was marked by significant delays, poor communication, and failure to meet stated timelines. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this company for reconstruction or remodeling services. The difference between the remediation experience and the reconstruction process was significant.

I had a finished lower level in my house that had water damage. I had hurt my leg while rushing to get a shop vac downstairs at 1 am when this occurred. I called and emailed them to come back to pick up what they should have taken with them in the first place. The Project Manager confirmed they would come back. They have not as of today (8/18 or almost 1 month) and they have not responded to multiple emails and phone messages (always get an answering service on a "direct line" to the Project Manager). Totally unacceptable, unprofessional and will let my homeowners insurance company know that this "preferred vendor" should be taken off of their list

Also seems they can't keep workers. 3 supervisor during this time. This should have never taken this long. There was also about a 6 weeks that nothing nor anyone ever came to the house. The house is a vacation rental so we needed the work done before the renters came. They scheduled Matt to come a few days later. He arrived promptly, listened to our needs and finished his work before the renters arrived. Matt is very nice, dressed well and easy to talk to. Also, before the next treatment, he called ahead so we could notify the renters when he would be there. We are very satisfied with Pest Pros of Michigan.
