We also ordered the Empanadas de Gallina (forgot price) - three lightly baked patties filled with tender meat and cheese; didn't need any sauce. For the main course, shared the Llanquihue ($9.500pesos) and Huerquehue ($9.800pesos). The Llanquihue is a smoked pork rib (similar to thick-cut bacon) surrounded by crunchy quinoa spheres. Huerquehue includes a roasted lamb with an amazing creamy wheat mote and wild mushrooms. Waitress here went above and beyond as we have limited Spanish skills (she really tried her best). My wife had platiada, which is braised brisket, served with the sauce like it was pot roast. She had want pastel de choclo, but the waiter explained they only serve it when fresh corn is available, otherwise they would need to use frozen corn, which La Flor de Chile wasn't going to do. Bravo. I did go off the reservation and ordered the vegetarian chorillana - which is fries, cheese, grilled onions and in this case sauteed veggies substituted for the chipped beef. I added the fried egg option. Big plate, as chorillana's origin is a big share plate of late night, post drinking bar food. But it was worth trying and I may order again. Down side - at meal times - in this case about 13:00 for lunch, the place filled up. At dinner time folks tend to sit and talk after eating ,not freeing up tables for those waiting. This custom of 'sobremesa' after dinner chat is part of the culture and just roll with it.
