Absolutely Amazing Seafood & Service - A Must in Viña del Mar! I had one of the best meals of my trip at Donde Willy. The seafood was out of this world--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The machas a la parmesana were the perfect start, rich and savory with just the right crisp. The sea urchins were incredibly fresh, with a delicate sweetness that melted in the mouth, and the sea bass was cooked perfectly--tender, flaky, full of flavor. What really made the experience even better was the service. Our waiter Denick was absolutely outstanding--attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. He gave great recommendations and made us feel truly welcomed. You could tell he really cares about the guests having a great time. Don't walk, run to Donde Willy! The European atmosphere is a hidden gem in the heart of Viña Del Mar. The food is out of this world, and that is no exaggeration. They specialize in seafood and they know how to do it right. Start off with a pisco sour or a bottle of the great wines they have and you're on your way. Start off with machas a la parmesana to start your culinary journey of awesomeness. Derrick and Agustin make you feel at home and lead a fantastic group of waiters who know what they are doing. A hidden gem! Definitely the best food and dining experience we have had in Chile during our trip. We decided to go with the special which was a preset 5 course meal with wine pairings. All of the seafood was so fresh and it was awesome to try a few different traditional dishes as well! All of the wine was on point and our server was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We both had the crab casserole and lemonade with ginger and mint. It was FANTASTIC! Generous portions of crab, perfectly browned cheese on top. The salsa verde with mini sopapilla appetizer was also delicious. Location Viña Plan area, near many shops and restaurants. The restaurant is on a small half street (aka alley) that dead ends. Food This is Chilean seafood in a relaxed environment. We ordered a parmesan clam appetizer, a salmon entree, and a king crab entree. The clams were delicious - order these with a glass of white wine. By the way, the wine pour was very light, closer to a quarter of a glass instead of about half a glass. The wine glasses are not very large. So my report on the entrees is: 1) salmon, seasoned with salt, but not much else. I think it was supposed to be a shrimp meuniere sauce but the shrimp were completely unseasoned. 2) pastel de centolla (king crab) - seasoned, but not spectacularly. This dish is like a baked crab dip or casserole. I think it would've been fine had I not had pastel de centolla in Patagonia (where king crab is THE THING to get). This one was fine but just not as delightful as the 'real thing' down south. Atmosphere/decor Casual and relaxed. The place was empty of other diners while we were there for dinner at 8:30 pm on a Saturday night. Service Service was slow. Service in Chile is a bit less attentive than what we are accustomed to in the United States but even taking that in to account, this was slow. And the slowness was confusing since only one other couple came in to dine while we were there. Recommendation I don't need to return, but if I do I'll stick to appetizers. read more

Yum. Probability the best tasting food (in a restaurant) I've had while visiting Chile. They were out of verity of fish, didn't matter. The pastel de choqlo was delicious. Fish is fantastic. It's definitely off the beaten path and there is a bit of a wait but worth it. Lots of other restaurants in the area and plenty of options but solid seafood. I had the trio which sampled three fish and loved them all. Free Willy! read more

During our visit to Chile, we stumbled on this cozy restaurant. We were blown away! The food was outstanding! The service was first class. I experienced a couple culinary firsts. We started with a sample platter (marinero Willy) that had crab dip, abalone, mussels, and cerviche. It was amazing. So fresh! I also tried sea urchin and loved that too! We loved this place so much that when we saw that they were having a wine pairing dinner, we drove an hour and a half to attend. We were not disappointed. Another amazing meal that was enhanced by the wine. I'm not a big wine drinker but the sommelier was excellent and answered all of our questions and was so knowledgeable, not only about the wine that we were drinking, but the vineyards in Chile. Found this quiet restaurant down a quant residential alley. The service was spectacular and attentive . The food was out of this world good. The seafood is extremely fresh and was able to try 2 types of fish I had never tried nor heard of before. I am picky on ceviche and it was perfectly prepared. A little off the beaten path but some of the most amazing seafood ever. They start out with some wonderful bread (pan amasado) and the wine selection is fabulous but affordable. We got a seafood soup which was massive and has the most amazing flavors. My husband got a risotto and fish with shrimp, also a generous portion and tasted incredible. Was in Valpo and looking for a good meal. It was on a side street and we got lucky in finding it. But it's worth the search. Mario our waiter was friendly and great with the kids. We were in between services and they cooked for us even as the chefs family and friends were having a personal gathering. WILLY is a great chef and we enjoyed everything from appetizers to mains. Nice cocktails and wine list. One of our favorite meals over our time in Chile. If you can find them it's worth your visit. read more

My wife and I were looking for some good seafood. We've tried great places in Valparaiso but we were staying in Vina so we wanted something a little closer. This was a hidden gem (literally hidden at the end of an alley). Must be one of the best seafood meals I've ever had, and to my surprise this restaurant was showcased in?? Nice tidy small place with 3 dining rooms, traditional Chilean menu with good selection of seafood and meat dishes. Very reasonable pricing, good service. We ordered the child's meat + fries (v tasty), Chilean fresh hake fish with baked potatoes (came deep fried, sorta a la fish & chips, good flavors) and locos e mayo appetizer (local abalone slices, v good). We ask and order reineta a la mantequilla with salad. Was good. Paula marina the aouo was nice but there were too many choritos and small. And last we ask for French fries that came warm and it was not fried. At the end we tell the waitress and did not charge the French fries. I recommend this place. Being so close to the ocean, it was a must-have to try some fresh seafood, and this was the best spot for it! I ordered a salmon dish and was surprised by the generous portion size of my fillet. The seafood cream sauce poured over my salmon included shrimp, mussels, and calamari (I think). My boyfriend also raved about his fried hake. read more
