After working with Hertz through my auto club, they found a car for the next day at this Gilroy location. When I called to be sure they had the car before I booked it, their brand new manager McKenna answered the phone. She let me know they had the car I needed on their lot available that day (I needed it that day). She worked with the 800 customer service to align my rental of this car and helped me get the price I had originally booked for. She held the keys for me and I was able to get to the place in plenty of time that day. She was kind, professional, very helpful and made a rough booking day into an incredible experience. When I went to the location I learned she is the new manager and they have a whole new team at the location. I have read some of the former reviews and I can attest that this NEW team is absolutely stellar. I am McKennas fan now as she pulled through in ways rarely seen at an agency. Hertz is very blessed to have her on their staff. I truly hope people revisit this location and see the changes. I will return again if I need a rental car. A new staff member was being trained when I went in and also had an excellent attitude. Thank you McKenna for an excellent experience and making my day easier. Thank you Hertz for finding someone who does an excellent job and has a great attitude!

If I could give less, I would…read more I rented a car for 8 days via Travelocity. I went to the SV office to pick it up on Friday evening. Our itinerary showed we would return to car to the SV office on Saturday evening. Which we did. On Monday after, I got an email stating they'd charged us for 10 days plus a late return fee. Because we returned on the weekend and they're not open, we were charged until Monday, plus a late fee. The manager had our itinerary that stated we would return it SV on Saturday but never mentioned the additional 2 days charge for doing so. We went outside to check the car and I specifically asked where to drop the keys since we'd be returning it on Saturday when they weren't open and he still didn't mention the additional charges for returning when they weren't open. I called the office and spoke with the manager. Instead of helping me, he ARGUED with me. I asked repeatedly why he didn't simply tell me about the additional charges for returning to SV on Saturday when we picked up the car and he ignored my question. I called someone else in their accounting department and was treated with respect and courtesy. She apologized repeatedly for the rudeness I endured while speaking with Rick. She credited my account without question or hassle. All he had to do was mention that returning the car while they were closed meant I would be charged until Monday and we would have returned the car in Santa Cruz instead but he did not. They count on people either not noticing the additional charges or not wanting to go through the hassle of pursuing the refund. We will never, EVER rent from the SV office again!!! It is definitely worth the drive to Santa Cruz to deal with an honest and respectable business.

The first vehicle (Nissan Altima) had a tire pressure warning and needed to be exchanged, which required a wait. The replacement (Chevrolet Malibu) had higher mileage and noticeable wear. I also didn't receive the vehicle class I originally booked, which impacted fuel efficiency for my long trip. Service was courteous, but vehicle quality and availability could be improved.

Since they were busy tomorrow for my 8AM(opening) pick up, he allowed me to pick up my rental before closing since I am an Emerald Club member. The rentals we've had in both branches were clean and well maintained. I was offered a discount to upgrade in person from both branches. In our last rental, they even had a follow up call to make sure there were no issues with the rental. I am still disappointed with the holiday cancellation last year especially when no alternative rental in all other branches were available leaving us car-less till we checked a few other car rental businesses. When I tried complaining about that experience, we were offered to escalate the issue or get free rental days. Interactions like today and last time with Brandon and quality of car rentals do make me return to their business. I would just be wary booking during holidays if your rental pickup is around Christmas/New Year's time.
