It definitely saves a lot airport fees if you can rent from Enterprise in a free-standing location. They also offer the option to pick you up and drop you off as an added convenience and point-of-difference. The office is a typical car rental office, clean, and welcoming. The staff goes over and above to make your rental an experience as they not only leave you with great customer service, but they follow up with you during your trip to make sure everything is as expected. I rented the car December 30, 2022. I had to drive my daughter back to NY after the holiday. I reserved the car 2 1/2 weeks prior to picking it up. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle I was informed that there was a half tank of gas and upon returning the car I would have to fill the tank again. I told the sales clerk I would have to fill the tank in order to get to my destination. Why should I have to fill it again? It doesn't make sense. He explained it is policy and stated I could just add the refill option so I don't have to stop and physically fill it up on the way back. I agreed. I wasn't going to argue. When I walked to the car I did notice the outside was dirty. I didn't realize how dirty until it got dark out and I had a difficult time seeing out of the windows. The inside was also dirty. It happened to be warm that evening so I put the air conditioner on and the smell of stale cigarettes was over powering. It was disgusting. When I returned the car the next day I explained to the sales clerk about the filthy car inside and out and the smell of cigarettes. He went on to explain "due to environmental laws they are not allowed to clean the outside of the car."He offered 25.00 off the rental and asked for a 5 star review. I had to put $20.00 in just to fill the tank and another 19.99 that I was charged upon returning the vehicle for filling the tank again. I did not give a 5 star review and I was contacted by enterprise 2 days letter by email. I was told I would be receiving a call from another sales rep. The rep called and left a voice message. I called the rep back approximately 2 hours later and left her a voicemail with specific instructions that I was available between certain hours to answer her call. She never called back. I ended up writing a letter to the corporate office to which they have not even acknowledged my letter. The sales rep has sent 2 emails apologizing for "not being able to connect". I called her again and left another message giving her the specific times I am available. She again sent another email. Since then I've heard nothing. I have been renting vehicles from enterprise for over 20 years and I have never ever had an issue. I will never do business with enterprise again. Their customer service is a fail. read more

I have been dealing with enterprise for 3 days, through out 10 states. My original reservation in Mississippi was never fulfilled. I had called at least 50 branches throughout 10 states, while driving through each state. I have driven 100s of miles out of my way, I was told they could help and mine did. I was at the end of options when I called Tom's river branch, when Drake answered I have been upset for 3 days and frustrated that none could or would help me. I was not happy that I was spending 100s of extra dollars chasing down a car to fit my needs, like the one I had reserved. Drake listened to me. I know I sounded crazy but he did. Then, Drake gave me a solution. I was, and am, incredibly relived. Drake did what the other 50 stores and 6 people at corporate couldn't. Thanks to Drake I am able to do what I needed to. Enterprise needs to get and train more people like Drake. It's not fun when a company messed up can't honor your confirmed reservation. It is not at all acceptable to tell your customer that you can't uphold your end of contract. It is insane to then tell your customer to search locations you will be near while driving and using the map get cities names. Then, while driving call each store and check their inventory. Oh, and you may have to drive 100s of miles off your route, stay in a hotel, pay for the extra gas and food to sustain you. Then to find out it was for nothing, they didn't have your vehicle. 3 days of this. 3 horrible days. thank you Drake for getting me what I need so I can now drive without using phone and arrive at my destination in one piece. read more

My car was being repaired so I needed to rent. The women in the office were very knowledgeable and friendly. The car was immaculate. The repair took a little longer than expected and I was able to keep the rental car until it was done. Would definitely use them again. read more

Completely unacceptable service, I reserved a car for 8am and when I arrived the told me they did not have any cars and were waiting for some to arrive, but could take up to an hour. About the only thing that would keep me from price-shopping every time I rented would be a choice. A CHOICE OF CARS TO RENT. We all know you HAVE A CHOICE as to what's dropped off there and that you can contact other franchises to make those requests happen. I agree with Ian's sentiment about not having much of a selection. I was actually quite disappointed when I arrived & the only choices I had was a Hyundai & another Hyundai. I was told that I can take the rental to another enterprise & they would trade. I called Route 9 & they had exactly the same choices. Once we got over being bummed about the selection & got on our trip, the car was great on gas, we had XM radio & an Aux, a USB & two "lighter type plugs. " A great feature! I am upgrading my review from a 3 to a 4 for the latter...lol I would rent from Enterprise again. I just crave more car choices. read more

Reaked of weed, messing with their phones while I stood and waited for service Then just typical disinterest at my line of questioning. If you live in Toms River go to route 9 enterprise or budget. I had a super disappointing customer service experience with CJ from the Bayville location this morning. I was on my way to pick up my rental when I received a call from him to tell me that he had no cars. It happens. No biggie. I get it. What followed afterwards when he called me back to tell me that he did, indeed, have a car and I could come in..late-to pick up a car is when the problem began. Long story short I canceled the reservation due to CJs unwillingness to modify my return time. I was receiving it late yet he expected me to return it on time. Huh? I was paying to rent a car for 24 hours, not 22 or 23. Plus I was really cool about the lack of car from the jump. Then! To add insult to injury...after leaving a negative Google Review about my experience, there was more, trust...Corporate reaches out, which I thought was nice of them but I missed the call. I called back 10 minutes later. That was over 2 hours ago. Radio silence now. Crickets. Enterprise really cannot even get out of their own way. Who is running this show? What a shame. I used to rent exclusively from them every couple of months. Thought that they were the best. No wonder CJ treats customers like garbage, so does corporate. read more

Very upset!!!! I rented a cargo van with Enterprise's Toms River location for one day because me and my boyfriend were moving to a new apartment. We spoke with the people from enterprise who assured us we would only be charged for one day. We got the car at late and the night before and brought it back the next day as soon as they opened. We explained the detailed before we picked up the van and they again said that they would only charge us for one day. Now they are claiming we had the car for two days, which would have been fine had they explained this before and not lied to us about only charging us for one day. In addition, they put a hold on $350 in my account. I have no problem with this, however they refused to tell me how much they were taking out of my account when I brought the van back. This was four days ago and they still haven't gotten back to me about how much they are charging me for the rental. I have called multiple times and I am given the same answer-- which is that they will get back to me, but they never do. There is still a $350 hold placed on my account. Even if I was charged for two days it would not come close to $350. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Staff is terrific! Rates however are subject to change based on supply and demand. I have seen rates go up $15+ dollars/day within a 24 hour period. I rent often for business and this can throw a wrench in my routine. The vehicles are hit and miss. Most are pretty good but some are not equipped with satellite radio (bummer). Would prefer all the vehicles to have a full tank of gas when picked up as well. This makes it much easier to return the car with the same amount of fuel. read more

I needed to extend my rental for an additional three weeks, no problem, again, the staff on Rt. 37 in Toms River was accommodating and so nice. My experience was 5 Stars!!!! read more

I had a accident this past November and rented a car from Enterprises for a total of 16 days at a charge of $38+. When I picked up the car the manager went over all the details of the rental. He mentioned additional insurance coverage of $16.99, never mentioning that it was per day. When saw my credit card bill I was very surprised. I went to see him to discuss the charge and told him he never told me it was per day. He said he did. So its a case of what he thought he said and what he didn't say. After debating this charge for months and even writing to Enterprise headquarters nothing has been settled. They told me that the regional manager would contact me to discuss this matter. Needless to say he has not. So I guess Enterprises policy is customer is never right and Enterprise personnel are. If I ever have to rent a car again, I definitely will not go to people who lie and take advantage of their customers. Think twice before using Enterprise and if you do make sure they spell out all the details of the rental. read more

Excellent service! We had two different cars during the weeks that our own car was being repaired. So accommodating when we needed to exchange the sedan we were driving for an SUV to get my son off to college. The only glitch and I just caught it today...were the charges because my credit card statement arrived. I think I was overcharged but I can sort that out tomorrow. DO NOT GO TO THIS ENTERPRISE! The employees here are complete crooks and will try and SCAM you out of every single dollar they can. I've never been so disgusted with a rental car company or the human race in general as when I was dealing with these scumbags. What should have been a fun weekend away was turned into an absolute nightmare by dealing with Enterprise, particularly the Tom's River location. We've been screwed by Enterprise before (who hasn't?) but this really took the cake. We rented a car for 3 days for what they said would be $183 TOTAL, which we were TOLD included a $50 drop off fee which allowed us to change the location that we were to drop the car off to. On the way home we called customer service to inquire if it would be possible to switch the drop off location to one in Manhattan instead of Hoboken, as planned. The representative initially told us that we could do it with NO CHARGE. Thankfully he called the Manhattan location to double check, and came back on the phone to tell us that there would actually be a $100 fee to drop it off at that location. This is understandable, as it's the city and parking spots aren't cheap. We told him that we already paid a $50 fee, so it would only be $50 extra, right? No. He looked in the computer and there was no record of us ever paying ANY drop off fee. Umm... so basically the "supervisor" Adam at Toms River told us he was adding the fee but didn't, to make it look like we were paying less so we would sign, and we were going to get a nice little extra fee charged to our card when we dropped off the car. We tried to voice our concerns about this to the supervisor at customer service, Lily, who was literally the most unhelpful and most infuriatingly condescending person I've ever spoken to. She basically told us she couldn't do squat for us (even though she's supposed to be a supervisor at customer service?) and if we had an issue to take it up with Tom's River. So, we called Toms River and spoke with a helpful female who understood our problem, looked into the computer, and told us we should have been charged but couldn't tell if we had been, so she recommended to drop the car off in Manhattan and tell them to not close it, and send the bill back to Tom's River to have Adam (the supervisor who signed the contract with us) look over it and he would most likely waive the fee. Okay, thanks! When the delightful Adam contacted us we were told to disregard everything the previous THREE people had told us, because we would actually be getting a $200 fee for dropping the car off in Manhattan! He couldn't even provide us with an excuse as to WHY the fee was more than double the cost of the car for three days, and he literally just pulled it out of his head because he was probably annoyed at us. And, he claimed to see NO RECORD of us ever talking to corporate, even though after half an hour on the phone our BFF Lily swore to us that she was making a note and it would be conveyed to Toms River. And since the deed was done and the car was already returned there was absolutely jack squat we could do about this! Also, he made sure to tell us that contacting corporate again wouldn't even work because they had no say over his final decision. And continued to basically tell us to go screw ourselves and HUNG UP on us. The next day, he called to tell us that he was actually just going to keep our deposit, which was $250 (gee, keeps getting higher and higher doesn't it?) I honestly don't know what the heck is going on with this company. This is absolutely shameful business practice, not to mention borderline illegal, and I'm surprised these con artists have managed to keep their jobs. I don't know what the point of having a customer service office if they can't handle any complaints, can't provide us with names of supervisors, and basically can't do anything to reconcile situations. Not to mention, these people can basically just MAKE UP random fees at will and there is absolutely no regulations or a set standard to go by, at least not one that was made apparent to us. We're taking this BOGUS $250 charge up with the bank because honestly I can't see how this is legitimate in the slightest. I have never felt so disrespected, scammed, and infuriated by a company as I have with Enterprise. It sickens me that a company that is so widely used has such poor structure, no regulation, and such incompetent and unethical employees. I'm sure we're not the first ones to be royally screwed. I urge you to not be the next person! Stick to the smaller companies like Hertz... they actually appreciate your business and are cheaper. Or, just freaking fly, because it's about half the cost of renting an Enterprise car. I think it's safe to say I'll jump off a bridge before I rent from Enterprise again. read more

I was given a rental car through Honda during a long term recall situation for airbags that lasted approx 2 months.The people working there were wonderful, but whoever is responsible for maintaining the vehicles needs to be let go. The first car I got was fine-not super clean, but okay. However, the registration/inspection was expired. It was a Kia Rio I didn't realize it until the next day when I was putting my stuff in the glove box. So I had to drive it 30 minutes back to office.The next one I got was a beautiful Chrysler, but it smelled like a casino ashtray and there were ashes all down in between the seats and smeared all over the driver's side window frame where the person was flicking out the window. I sprayed it, left windows open to no avail. The air filter was full of strong stink. The third car was a Nissan Versa-great little car. However, this one was full of dog hair everywhere and all the back windows were smeared with dried dog spit to the point it was difficult to see out, AND there was a bunch of french fries down between the cracks of the front seats. I'm really not a high maintenance person, and the office staff apologized PROFUSELY and it was obvious they were very embarrassed by this and were sympathetic. I just kept the third one because my chances of getting anything better seemed slim. Each time I made a switch it was an hour and a half of my time I wasn't getting back since they were about 30 minutes away from my residence and I had to sign papers and move belongings from one car to another. It was a real headache and I had to top off the cars each time. Again, the office staff, Jim in particular, was very professional and accommodating. I brought my concerns to them. I only hope they took it seriously or they will lose business there big time. All it takes is a couple slackers to bring a business down. read more
