Five HUGE stars for Enterprise in Lexington! I may preface this by saying that I was definitely born in the wrong century in that I despise using computers/apps for every transaction nowadays. It is a true godsend to do anything these days without it turning into a major stress event involving ill-programmed websites/computers/passwords, absence of human communication/interaction, customer set-ups designed solely for the business-owner advantage, automated telephonic nonsense, computer-cryptic hidden fees, etc. Here's the story: My car croaked and I needed to rent a car. In fear of what I have described above, I boldly decided to risk it and simply just walk down to Enterprise at opening time to see about renting a car. I was stressed already and anticipating "the usual" like being told "you have to book this on-line" and/or "you need a user ID to access a new account" and similar such nonsense. Instead, I was welcomed by a very pleasant lady (Abigail) who was well spoken. She clearly stated the rental information and answered any questions I had. She booked a car to fit my needs and the price was clear and all info was up front. Before I knew it, I was led over to my car, and I was driving off on my merry way all within 10 minutes or less of my arrival. I literally left with a smile and low-than-ever cortisol levels. At the end of the week, I called Enterprise and spoke to Richard on the phone, and I informed him that I needed a week-long rental extension and he set it up via phone in seconds. He was very helpful and pleasant and a good communicator. It later turned out that my own car was now repaired, and I didn't need the rental extension after all. I called Enterprise and Richard answered. I informed him of my situation and said to "just return the car when you like and everything will be all set." The return process was a snap. Everything was lickety-split and totally "user friendly" and all info was clearly and concisely presented. Best of all, everything was accomplished without my ever having to touch a computer -not even once. No run-around, no confusion, no hidden fees, real people, etc. Old school and I'm lovin' it! This place scams people. When I returned the car in exactly the same condition as before, the mechanic found an unnoticeable dent, one that was not caught on the first examination on the day I had rented it. They estimated the cost at a ridiculous $668! I told them that I would get a second opinion. Ten minutes later, when I returned, the enterprise staff said that the car was already "gone" to the next customer. They had clearly rented the car out to the next unwitting customer who did not see the "dent" and are planning on charging them another $600. Or they were hiding the car from a second opinion - either way, the company was lying to me or to another customer. This place has no moral standing and is running a blatant scam. read more

I set up a reservation for a standard size car (Chevy Malibu, Ford Fusion, or similar) over a month before. On the day of the reservation I walked into the Enterprise location with only a Ford Focus parked in the lot. I went inside and the guy behind the counter acted surprised when I said I did not want the smaller Focus. He went into the back to talk to the manager who was changing the oil in a Grand Prix and he came back and said that there was a Toyota Prius on its way back to the office and I could have that if I want. I said yes and sat down in the lobby waiting for it to arrive. About 5 minutes or so later the manager drove the Grand Prix out to the front lot and came inside and then sat down behind his desk. The other employee was on the phone with a customer when he hung up the phone the manager said the Grand Prix was ready to go. The employee then turned to me and said that my car was ready. I told him that I would wait for the Prius and the manager spoke up and said he just rented the Prius to someone else. The building is only two rooms, the office area and a small garage. The only phone that rang was the one the employee answered to help out a customer. I don't know how the manager could book a reservation when he didn't speak to anyone in the 5 minutes that I was told I could get the car and when he said it was rented. I was so upset by this that I cancelled the reservation and when I got home I called the corporate office. Customer service was very nice and the connected me to the actual location manager who was not either one of the guys that were there. I explained my side and he said he would call around and see if he could get me another car to rectify the situation. He never called back. I will never do business with Enterprise again. This is not the first time that they used the bait and switch with me. If I wanted the smaller Focus I would have saved the money and booked an economy car. read more

I notice there are two negative reviews and all I can think is that these guys were in the Twilight Zone. I have rented cars and vans from the Lexington Enterprise for over two years, at least once every other month and have never had any kind of problem at all. I'm a fan of their weekend special (use their cars for trips and save my classic for local stuff) and have been given everything from economy cars to luxury SUVs. They pick me up when I need it and can get a transaction done in less than five minutes. Of all the rental car companies I've used in the US and Europe, Juno, Doug and Ray are the best team I've ever worked with. I currently have a rental car through the Enterprise in Lexington, MA and have had a wonderful experience thus far. I will be keeping the car for about 6 months so this is a pretty long-term rental. When picking up the car, I worked with Courtney who was super sweet, patient and helpful. She even sat inside the rental car with me to help me set up the hands-free blue tooth and several other features of the car. She let me take a look at several different cars from both the inside and outside and let me select my preference. Since COVID-19 Enterprise has consolidated locations for stated purposes of safety. It is September and these changes have not been reflected on many internet citations. I rented a car for a week and was sent to a pick-up location that was closed. Upon discovery I immediately contacted Enterprise and requested a rental from an opened site be driven over to my home. My home was less than 5 miles from an open location. They refused. I am a 63 year old practicing nurse that highly values my vacation time down Cape Cod. Rather than seizing the opportunity to make things right, they've opted to send ad nauseam emails wanting to "discuss the issue". I am out $1500 dollars on a vacation rental and have thrown away a weeks worth of vacation time because of Enterprises negligent practices. I will make the best of the week but I have a real bitter taste in my mouth that lingers. Here's the kicker. After pointing this out to Enterprise management they have done NOTHING! They were great with a last minute cold weather rental and conviently located about a block from a Toyota service place. I was given a new, clean, upgraded vehicle in excellent condition. Enterprise, Lexington, MA, is really the best auto rental agency! A few weeks ago when my car died, and I had plans to go out of town, I called Enterprise, as I know they have a super weekend deal. I was due to be picked up late Friday afternoon. They called to say they were very busy and their driver was stuck in traffic, and would be a little late. Then Olivia (the manager!) came to pick me up at my home. When we arrived back at Enterprise, Olivia upgraded what was supposed to be an 'economy' auto to the next level at no cost to me. Awesome customer service from one of the guys. I went in to renew my car rental and knew I was cutting it close to their closing time. I called to let them know I was coming and arrived 3 minutes before close. The gentleman that greeted me didn't express any impatience or annoyance for making him stay late. He was super nice and patient explaining everything to me and made sure I got the best deal. I even changed my mind on the rental plan after he already processed something and felt too bad to change it but he reassured me that it was ok and encouraged me to change it to get a better deal. We just wanted to properly thank and acknowledge him but don't remember his name so hopefully someone sees this and relays the message to him! (He's pretty young and has curly hair.) I don't know about you, but everytime I'm at Enterprise it's because my car is not... Behaving... If you know what I mean. I think I usually expect it to bea hassle, but Enterprise has always been a good experience for me. The staff is friendly and helpful. The cars are nice, and the prices seem reasonable. This is to balance the 5-star review, which is too generous. I have rented from Enterprise many times and have encountered good service and great people. However, what I cannot stand is fleecing (by the company, not the people), which smart people are always able to avoid, but others are victimized. Bottom line, yes, rent from them, but pay attention to details. Follow these simple basic steps: 1. get the best reservation price that you can. 2. at the time of pick-up, before signing, compare the reservation price and the price on the agreement. 3. Be sure to point out and decline the additional charges that they feel free to tack on. 4. Be aware of the taxes and fees that are levied by the State or Township; these cannot be helped (for that location), so that you can separate them from the spurious charges levied by this company (if you are uninformed, they will try to gloss over it as though it is a mandatory charge by the State/Township). read more

Once they were running late picking me up -- it wasn't a big deal, but they were totally apologetic and gave me an upgrade for the "inconvenience." They're knowledgable about the cars and super friendly, even when dealing with difficult customers. read more

Lexington, Massachusetts Enterprise: PRICE GAUGERS I had a shocking loss in my family & had to fly to Boston last minute. Delta was amazon - not only found my daughter and I flights for low cost/bereavement pricing, but also upgraded us no cost to 1st Class! Then, there was Enterprise. They were sold out when I called, along with all the other carriers. They told me to call to find a cancellation when I got there. I did. I finally found one the next morning in Lexington. Unfortunately the representatative raised the rate so high, I had to pay almost 3x the normal rate to get to my aunt and uncle in Maine. When I told him why I was traveling he told me he WAS giving me a break, that he could be be charging me $200/day (for a mini SUV). They charged me over. $700 for 4 days. The normal rate is $258/ wk. I screenshot ted it from their website. They quoted my week rate at over $800. To top it off when I was standing there crying, the girl (who was actually very nice & sweet) asked me not to write a review because she would get in trouble. (The man I spoke to never showed his face) I explained to both of them, I had just gotten out of a second surgery for breast cancer and lost a cousin. I really needed them to have some empathy and humanity on the pricing. Nothing. Enterprises policies are awful!! Uncompromising customer service. My plans changed and needed to drop the car off at Logan and they wouldn't budge in a $110.00 fee. They were more than happy to extend my rental from 6 to 9 days but bringing the car to a different location 20 miles away was out of the question. read more

I rent from the Enterprise Lexington office every weekend. I don't own a vehicle and have a corporate rate that makes renting a great deal. My experience in over a year have been superb. Ben, the branch manager, is professional and always strives to satisfy his customers. His employees are excellent very friendly, kind and they keep an above average customer focus. Their fleet offers a variety of great cars at all prices and they are always clean and well maintained. I will probably buy a car this summer but for my corporate needs I won't look anywhere else. I worked with a dealership to rent a car from Enterprise in Lexington, Mass. I was told the rental would be $35.00. However, it was $60.00. I had to charge up to $300 on my debit card. I rented the car on Saturday and was told that the deposit would be returned to my account on Monday. I called the company on Tuesday to ask why the return had not been processed. They assured me that they would process the return and send an email. It is not Thursday I have not been returned the deposit and I have not had an email receipt sent to me either. This was my first attempt to rent a car, I'll stick with zip cars in the future! I hope Enterprise returns returns the $250 they owe me... read more
