Worst. Experience. EVER! Received a dirty vehicle with trash in it after the office had closed. Received the WRONG vehicle (reserved economy, received luxury) and was charged for it. Charged DOUBLE the original reservation quote. Spoke with management and he had excuse after excuse and finally agreed to "take care of it" and hung up without explaining what exactly "take care of it" meant. DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION. Good news: the car was good, the people in the office were polite, final charges were exactly the same as the estimate. Bad news: They were more than 90 minutes late on their stated pickup time, and each time I called for an ETA update, they said "the driver is on the way." Finally, after an hour, they said there had been a "miscommunication" and that no driver had left, but one did arrive a half hour later. They were decent enough to let me sign for the rental without returning to their office first, which got me on the way quicker. But for the 90 minutes spent sitting on a bench in the hot sun, it would have been a 5 star review. read more

I had such great service and was completely taken care of here- for 3 weeks while my car was in the shop. There are not many options in the OBX so I was very lucky that the manager, Libby, was so outgoing and her staff were so helpful. read more

Worst customer service ever! We had an extraordinary emergency due to the gas crisis in NC and didn't have enough gas in our personal vehicle to get to the rental office and there was no gas to be had in Corolla. I was hoping they could help us out by coming to get the Jeep or at least meeting us halfway. After waiting on hold for at least 10 mins listening to the recording telling me how Enterprise "goes the extra mile for its customers" and "stuck at the repair shop? We'll pick you up!" and how it's a family business that focuses on helping its customers - the first clerk that answered just flat out said "sorry there's nothing we can do" When I asked for a manager they put another person on the line, who was clearly not the manager (a fact I confirmed when I dropped off) who said the same thing and finally I got a "manager in training" who told me I was rude despite the fact that I never even raised my voice (I was however, understandably frustrated!) and hung up on me. So that recording they force you to listen to while you're on hold? COMPLETE LIES! And that manager in training - well, she needs LOTS and LOTS of training. Very poor customer service. This situation could have been handled so much better. I won't rent from Enterprise again. read more

We rented a house for a week's vacation on Carova Beach (4 x 4 access only) and one of our family members needed to leave two days into the vacation and take her vehicle. Enterprise worked with us and we were able to get a Jeep Wrangler so we could access the beach. They also helped me reserve a car to get home (one way rental). Don't rent from this sketchy location....tried to rent a car with cash...they wouldn't take it...tried with a debit card with visa logo...they wouldn't take it...had to call a friend to reserve for me....what business doesn't take cash? I told the guy all he had to do was swipe my card and they would get paid...I was told it was" company policy".... read more

Kye and the rest of the staff made our rental of a Jeep a great one. Highly recommend a soft top Jeep from Enterprise to enjoy the Outer Banks beaches. Returned it pretty dirty from sand but they were great and very accommodating. Will use them again. Would be 5 stars but did have some confusion around our reservation. Enterprise in the Outer Banks. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Unhelpful and dishonest. Will never ever rent from Enterprise again because of this location. Whether it was the passive aggressive, embittered woman's ingratiating laughter mixed with condescending interjections (it's apparent you hate your job Libby)-- or the manager who insists on pushing superfluous insurance packages on top of your existing policy, not once but 3 times-- (if I had a small child there, as soon as my back was turned, he'd attempt to weasel in a 4th -- "here's some candy, sign this while you're father isn't looking.")-- this place is a stain. Thank god I took pictures of the car during inspection -- they tried to charge me for a broken antenna upon drop off-- until I broke out my phone and showed them the picture. I hope Hertz or someone else sets up shop next door. read more

Great customer service. Staff went out of their way to make sure I got item back that was left in rental vehicle. After I called, staff on their own time, took item to post office and mailed back to me since I am not from the area. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Was mislead about what car we were getting. They didn't go too far to correct what they got wrong. I did receive a discount of 10% for the headache but it wasn't worth it. Even if they assure you they will have a car, don't assume it will be there ready to go as advertised read more

Very helpful and understanding. I was given a brand new Ford Focus that locked itself if you left the keys in the ignition and got out to pump gas (they didn't know it did this of course). I had to call a locksmith who broke in quickly, but still a major annoyance. They listened to my story and immediately deducted the cost of the locksmith from my bill. They promised to tell future renters of this anomaly. Be warned with the new Ford Focus! read more

If you rent a car in the Outer Banks, this is basically your only choice. But when given the option, we usually choose Enterprise because we've had such great service in the past. I needed a car for a few days' trip to Virginia Beach to visit family, while leaving our car with my husband who wasn't making the trip. Check out was laborious! I can't recall a time where I've had to actually produce my insurance card, but can understand as busy as this area is, it's a necessary precaution ~ but thought calling GEICO for verification took it a little too far. Had an issue with payment, but the assistant manager came up with a workable solution for deposit/payment ~ deposit on my credit card while charging my debit card for the cost. The car (Toyota Corolla) was dirty but was filled with gas so I was finally on my way. I returned the car on Sunday (a day early but it worked best for us) and there were two young gentlemen manning the office. We know it is common practice these days, but when dealing with the older crowd (we're in our 60s), the proper response to "thank you" is "you're welcome" or "it's my pleasure". There's not much that sets my husband off quicker than hearing "no problem". Will still choose Enterprise when possible. read more

Everyone at Kill Devil Hills was polite & professional. They came & picked us up and also took us back after we dropped the car off. We were vacationing in Southern Shores and need a car for the day to go visit relatives that lived about a mile away. Definitely would use Enterprise again. read more

The only reason im giving 5 stars is that the staff is great, but way under staffed, poor girl in a dress suit is taking reservations, answering phones,dealing with 3 people at the same time , then..how to go outside and wash and vacuum my rental. Only giving it a star because I have to select something! Was in a car accident on Tues, Insurance reserved a car on Thurs morning yet when I called I was told that they should have a car in that afternoon and would call me after 4. No call. So Fri morning I called and they said they did not have any that morning but would have some after lunch and would call. Again, no call. I then called yet again only to be told they could not help me until the following Monday. Monday?!?! How is that supposed to help?!?! Then I called corporate and asked to speak to someone and was told someone would call me back.. still waiting! #1 how can you NOT have a veh that was reserved days in advance and #2 WHY can't you at least call the customer instead of making them chase you down??? NOT good business practices! Sadly they are the only show in town so I am stuck without a vehicle or any way to get around since there is no regular public transportation here.
