I've rented several times from this location. The customer service is good when at the location, but trying to call the location is a long and frustrating experience. I called three times this morning, was on hold for 20+ minutes and then the call dropped. If you are a manager or with corporate, please reach out to me. Had made a reservation through the general 1-800 number for a one day rental with a scheduled pickup at the Vista location, found out on the day of the rental that the Enterprise agent on the 1-800 number was not aware of pickup times/availabilities and that I would not be able to be picked up, but was saved last minute by the team of the Encinitas location. I have a booked reservation, I show up early to my scheduled time and I am told that there are no vehicles available and that I will be placed on a waiting list. I was never contacted about any issue with my reservation, the employee lied to my face and then proceeded to help other customers instead. I will never use Enterprise again. read more

I have used Enterprise for long and short term rentals and by far this was the worst location I've ever encountered. I had made a reservation long ago and was ready to drive quite a distance to see a friend (as well as planned on having a car for a few days, as I was from out of town) but was not able to rent as they told me I could not use a debit card. They were extremely rude about this--particularly one employee who upon sight decided to ignore me and was very disrespectful when I tried to ask him a few questions later. The associates here did not care in the least about me, and did not offer any help or real suggestions. So I was stranded there for awhile and ignored (and feeling embarrassed) while I tried to figure out what to do. I called an Uber and changed my plans for the day and was unable to see my friend on that particular trip. Highly not recommended. read more

If you actually want to have a car on the date/time you reserved, do not come to this location. I reserved a vehicle for an important meeting--then called to re-confirm 3 days prior, 2 days prior, then the day before. Each time I called, I was assured the vehicle would be here for me. When I arrived, the vehicle was not here, there was no alternative, so I waited 90 minutes for them to get one from another location. This delay caused 6 people to arrive late for the meeting with an important client. Horrible. As I've been sitting here waiting, they have had to turn away 3 people for the same thing. If you have an important/tight schedule or need for a car rental, you can't rely on this place. Our latest incident (there have been several), they didn't have the vehicle (or anything similar) we reserved for and confirmed. Even if they tell you hours before pickup that - yes, your call will be ready - don't believe them. Twice they told us the windshield was cracked (they need to come up with a new excuse). Other times they were late or substituted the vehicle type. And if you try to reach someone at the location, they rarely answer the phone. My assessment of their operation is that they just wing it - take any reservation for any time, and hope they have the car on premises. I have rent a car here about once a month fora year now. I've got a good idea how they operate. First, you'll probably not get the exact car you think you rented. I think that's the downside of renting at one of the satellite locations - I think it's a small price to to have the satellite location in my neighborhood. The staff here have consistently taken excellent care of me. Jesse has gone out of his way to help when I got my schedule wrong and showed up outside of regular hours. He's also reached out to make sure my car is scheduled, and offered to help with changes when I needed them. Jesse and the whole staff at Encinitas Enterprise are amazing. A gentleman picked me up from enterprise at place where my car was being repaired. I was dealing with insurance companies and staff was very helpful. The cars at this location are super nice! They had everything including a new Audi, charger several SUVs and mid size and small cars. They allowed me the time to pick a car that I would be happy in! Communication. I booked a same day rental and when I showed up they said I needed two forms of ID. A prompt in the online booking platform would be helpful to know to bring and the woman at the desk said someone should have called to let me know as well. I couldn't get my rental and wasted my time because of the lack of communication. Second Update: Enterprise asked me to email them, as seen below, to which I responded immediately. However, it took them a week to reply. When they did, they promised to have a representative from their location call me - that was last week. I'm still driving around in a vehicle with deteriorating windshield wipers and a trunk that can't accommodate my grocery shopping. This situation is far from satisfactory. Update to my review: While Brittany provided exceptional assistance throughout the process, her commitment to follow up within a specific timeframe was not upheld. She reassured me that she would check in with the Carlsbad location and call me back within 10 minutes to update on the situation. However, as I write this, it's already 8 PM, and I've yet to hear from her, leaving me somewhat disappointed. Despite the earlier great service, this lack of follow-through leaves room for improvement. My experience with Enterprise Car Rental in Carlsbad was unfortunately less than satisfactory. Due to an insurance request, I was to pick up my rental from this location after an initial reservation had been set at their Encinitas branch. Upon my arrival at the Carlsbad location, the process quickly became chaotic. Jesse seemed to be the only one in control, trying to manage everything as the rest of the staff appeared confused and uncoordinated. The workflow was also unusual compared to my past experiences. After being 'checked in' by an employee summoned by Jesse, I was informed that someone else would walk me out to the car - a disjointed process I've never encountered in my many past rentals. Confused and frustrated, I stepped outside to contact Brittany at the Encinitas branch. As I was on the call, I noticed the Carlsbad staff through the window, seemingly idle, making no effort to expedite my rental process or check on me despite knowing I was waiting. Even after my call with Brittany, the car wasn't ready for a significant amount of time, contrary to what I had been told earlier. The lack of efficient customer service and the lengthy wait time left me with a negative impression of the Carlsbad branch. In summary, my experience at Enterprise Car Rental in Carlsbad was marred by poor communication, lack of staff coordination, and prolonged waiting times. This contrasts sharply with the proactive and helpful service I received from Brittany at the Encinitas branch. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've rented here. I have to get my car serviced at BMW and they rarely have loaner cars so I have them drop me off here. The last couple of times I've had Colin help me. He is SO nice and kind and always willing to go above and beyond. I had reserved a smaller car but asked if I could get a bigger one and --trust me on this--any other place would have sighed and rolled their eyes (YES it has happened at other places) and then keep me there for another 20 mins. NOT HERE!!! Colin immediately gave me the choice and I was in and out of there in less than 15 min. Maybe even 10 minutes!! I use to hate going to car rental places but this is and will be my go to. I rented a car at Enterprise last Monday and it was a very easy and pleasurable experience. Part of the reason was the management trainee, Lauren who made me feel at home and important. The Friday before the rental I got a rental quote for $83 which was way too high. I then went online and spoke to an agent that got me a car for $49. Lauren initially quoted the higher number too until I showed her my reservation. I think that's how they 'get you' but she corrected the rental number. I strongly suggest going online to reserve a car rather than just dropping into a rental office. I believe it will save you a good deal of money. read more

I recently had an unfortunate incident in which my car was hit in a parking lot. Based on my insurance's recommendation, I decided to rent a car from Enterprise. The initial setup seemed smooth, with the collision center arranging a car drop-off for me. However, the service quickly went south on the morning of the drop-off. When I called to inquire if the car could be delivered to my house instead, the response from the representative--who turned out to be the same person I would speak with later--was shockingly rude. Even though I didn't push the issue after her refusal, the tone was unnecessarily harsh and left a bad taste. Still having some questions about the rental process--since this was my first time renting due to a collision--I called back hoping for a more helpful interaction. Regrettably, I was met with the same dismissive attitude. All I needed, especially after the stress of the week and receiving conflicting information from the collision center and my insurance, was a clear and polite explanation. That proved too much. Given the consistently poor service from the same representative, I reached out to my insurance provider and requested to switch my rental to Hertz. I also advised them to reconsider their recommendation/contract with Enterprise, as no customer should experience such unprofessionalism. Having worked in customer service most of my life, I'm appalled by the lack of courtesy I encountered. If you're considering using Enterprise, I'd think twice. No one deserves this level of rudeness, particularly from a service dealing with customers in stressful situations. You work in customer service, so you lose the superiority complex, or maybe that's why you have such a poor attitude at 8:00 a.m. I can't recommend Hertz enough. read more

We lost two cars and our house in a fire. Insurance booked us one car with enterprise and I went to book a second so I can look at houses while my wife goes to look at schools. I paid for my car and input all info online and paid an Uber to take me for an hour to the enterprise location. On my way to enterprise the staff at enterprise called me. They said they don't have the car that I prepaid and booked. I said no problem just give me whatever car you have. They said fine. When I arrive, they tell me that they cannot rent to me unless I switched names with my wife and she has to be present at that time. That's impossible. She needs to be looking at schools and I need to be looking at houses. I told them they just wasted a lot of precious time and money of mine. Can they help me at at least get back to my place. They said no, I asked him if I could talk to a manager they said no the manager is too busy doing Marketing. Why are you doing more marketing when you can't even take care of your existing Client. read more

Our experience was atrocious: on the second day of driving our upgraded insurance replacement vehicle, the vehicle broke down without warning on the side of the road 2.7 miles away from the branch. From my work I called the branch for help, was put on hold for 15 minutes and then they said there was nothing they could do and we had to call roadside assistance and the once the vehicle is towed my pregnant wife and two young children could leave the side of the road and Uber to the branch to go through the process of getting a replacement vehicle. After a full hour on the phone trying to get help, I finally got a tow scheduled to my wife who was dressing an eight year for a soccer game on the side of the road. Now today trying to get a replacement vehicle scheduled I've been on hold for 27 minutes and then got "your call cannot be transferred, goodbye." This is insane. read more

After confirming my reservation with them the day before for a dropoff at a repair shop, they said they lost my reservation, showed up an hour late and then said I had to go to their store to pick up my rental. When we complained about this treatment to the manager, he ignored our complaints and refused to rent to us. Seriously? Talk about poor customer service! So far I have not been impressed with my time at Entraprise in Encinitas. They are located in a highly congested parking lot. They are deeply understaffed. When I arrived for my 10 AM apt, their was one person working and a line down the hallway. The one person working at the front was clearly trying his best. The staff is friendly and truly caring. I don't know if someone didn't show up today or what, but this review is no reflection on the staff and everything to do with the management of the operation. The poor overworked employee had multiple people trying to return keys to him while also trying to set up other people with their new cars. Even though I made an appointment, my car was not ready, nor even in the lot when I arrived. They continually tried to upsell me into a big more expensive car until my car arrived. I waited 1 hour for my car even though I made a reservation and the staff continually assured me my car was "on it's way." At the 50 min mark another 3 employees showed up and the overworked employee ran to the car wash station. Unfortunately the staff does not wear name tags so I am unsure who helped me. I was given a small discount for my time and trouble, but in the end it was not working waiting outside for over an hour. If you need to rent a car from a reliable place I would suggest looking elsewhere. read more

DO NOT TRY TO RENT FROM HERE. I reserved a car 3 months ago for a family trip over Christmas, we have a large family and need a 7 seater. Enterprise reached out to confirm two days before our rental was to start. Two hours before PICK UP TIME the manager called to say there was no car for us. Apparently they have one in their fleet and the previous customer extended. WHAT? When you called to confirm two days prior, could you have let us know this was a possibility? She said she would work on finding another and call me within two hours. I never heard from her again. Unfortunately at this late date there were no large cars anywhere in San Diego since it was Christmas, the few available after Christmas were 4X the price. We had decided to rent a compact car, and were told it would be ready at 1:00 PM. We arrived at 1:15 to discover that there were four other people ahead of us. They had several employees, but one was at lunch, another was manning the desk AND handling the cars outside. When I finally got my car, it was NOT a compact but rather a huge seven-seater van! I finally hit the road at 2:20 and then got caught in four hours of traffic heading to LA. The huge van was a real gas guzzler and was given to me with less than a half-filled tank.
