The positive aspect about this location is that the customer service here is friendly. The staff is very accommodating when it comes to returning your rental car. The negative aspect about this location is that the car rental selection is very poor. In other words, a standard size car and below = a compact or economy car. This has been the case each time I have been to this location. There is usually no more than 5 cars to choose from in total. You cannot reserve a specific brand of car before you pick it up. What you see is what you get. Unless you want to gamble into getting a economy car for the price of an intermediate or standard vehicle, I would pass this place up.

I had flown into Jackson for an unexpected funeral and HAD to be in attendance just 12 hours after landing. I still had an hour's worth of driving ahead of me, as well. Needless to say, I was LIVID that Dollar had not kept their commitment to hold my car for 8 hours following the delay caused by the airlines. Hell, they didn't even remain in the building nor pass off the reservation to any other companies that participate in the rental business alongside them at JAN airport. Once I calmed down enough and regained my composure, I approached the Avis desk. I had no other option. Haji, the associate at the desk, was a miracle worker! He kept complete composure, remained calm, explained everything I needed to know about their contracts and saved the evening! He quickly assigned me an SUV and had me on my way in less than 15 minutes. Once I got to the car & opened the door to place my suitcase inside, I was met with the most pungent smell of marijuana that I think I've EVER smelled. It literally smacked me in the face when I opened the trunk lid and both front doors, despite the $450 warning sticker on the windows. Clearly, whomever checks the cars back in doesn't meticulously look over/through the cars when receiving them back. (I personally verified this myself when returning to the airport on my way home. The attendant scanned a barcode on the window and told me to place the keys on the dashboard. He never got inside the car nor walked around the outside of it, either. ) Despite the over-whelming smell, I was able to attend the funeral, and safely get to and from the airport. Essentially, that IS all I NEEDED! So, once again, a HUGE shoutout to Haji at the Jackson-Evers airport in MS! Thank you for your efforts and concern! You deserve a raise after THAT fiasco!

To start my Avis journey, I get there and they don't have a car for me. Mind you I booked 2 months ago and no one called to tell me before I drove over a hour to pick up this rental. I was told they wouldn't have anything for my 2pm pickup until "maybe" 10. So I asked would I be partially refunded for my inconvenience and she just looked at me and said I can change your time that's it. I just tried renting a car here again yesterday and walked to the national lot and things for the most part have changed for the good. -The only thing that seems to have not been much different is the car selection in Executive. I came out and found 3 cars and several vans etc to choose from. This isn't really a complaint as I did get a nice Charger for a car and it was very nice. I did notice at 11am when I returned the car they had plenty at that time, so maybe they just don't have their timing right on the inventory vs. flights coming in. I don't know, but I was happy with what I found. + the staff was present and very helpful and they definitely have stepped up their game in this regard. + When I returned my car there was someone there to check it in promptly and like normal National fashion. Everything went smoothly there. All in all I see they have turned it around from my visit this trip and a lot has changed. In 6 more months when I come back I'll check again and I hope everything will still be good here. I don't know how they did it but it's like a regular National car location with everything that I would expect. Nice job guys, and keep it up!

I proceeded with the Class Vehicle - Large Sedan. When checking in at the rental car counter, I was informed the car fleet inventory was limited. Because of this, I received a free upgrade to a mini SUV. I ended up getting the Volkswagen Tiguan FWD. This vehicle was beyond incredible on a full tank of gas. It was able to hold nearly 500 miles at once. This experience was quite impressive. As a Hertz Gold+ member, I had three complimentary days added to my account. The original total of the booking was nearly $300. After the discount was applied, the invoice ended up being $95.61. I also earned 63 points. I was so elated and grateful because the price point was so valuable. I returned the vehicle while this business was not open. Since I had a 7am flight with United Airlines, I did the drop-off at 5am. It was convenient and easy because all I had to do was park the vehicle in the return line and then drop off the key inside of the airport. There was a designated drop box for keys at the rental counter that a person couldn't miss. This particular Hertz Rent-A-Car location exceeded expectations and provided a wonderfully positive experience. I recommend renting a vehicle from here.
