Upon arrival I was helped by a woman called "Lisa" she must have been the friendliest and most helpfull desk agent I ever met. Thank you !! Advice to Avis; keep her, she should be employee of the month 8-)) On top she was very effiecient and I was out of the airport in no time. Also bringing the car back was no hassle at all. The guy inspecting the car, again, was very nice and very effecient, 5 min tops and I was on my way with all the information I needed. Thank you Avis Birmingham for your brilliant customer service, if only we would ahve the same kind of customer service here in Belgium.

I had a little Corsa which drove perfectly and was great on the fuel fuel. The hire was £50 for the day and that included the extra insurance to bring the excess down to £100. When returning the car I forgot to put in the petrol before taking it back. The lady behind the counter only charged me £1 a litre to fill it back up for me meaning my trip to Manchester and back only cost me £23! Bargain. Don't be put off by the grubby exterior/dingy office look of this pace the staff are great and the cars are pretty much perfect for short or long hires.

On arrival, my car was ready to drive off, and after a quick inspection I was on my way. Great concept but fundamentally flawed…read more The customer service is great... after everything has gone wrong and when they don't want to reply to an email or pick up the helpline, they won't. They're system should be automated but 80% of the hires I've had, I've had to call them after (on their premium rate number) and get them to end the rental because of issues. Once they didn't even pick up in the middle of the day, causing a £30 charge on my account. - I hired a car that was "Dead" on arrival - the reader was turned off. - A car that was reported to be in bad condition inside because someone had thown up in it, was still the same a week later (coincidence I hired the same one again!) When I do speak to someone on the phone they are apologetic and nice and sort it all out. On email they are pathetic, not even reading what has been said. They are very convenient. Though they are not cheap. A 7 minute costs £2.50 and they charge from the second you swipe the card, not when you turn it on. so it's about 75p just to get in and out. Then another couple of £'s calling to sort out the problems. Considering the hassle, I'm not intending to use them much anymore. Unfortunate but it's not worth the stress. Hope others have a better time with them as I stand by the concept and part of the customer service.

Far to often the rentals do not complete and the car cannot make a connection, this normally involves a lengthy call to the Netherlands to force the rental to end. Overall there is significant room for improvement.
