Everything was fine when I picked the car up. The car itself worked fine for my 7 days. The disaster began when I brought it back. I brought the car back on the morning before my flight back to the US. The Avis employee looked at it, it had a full tank, and he said that everything was ok, so I went my way. During my layover in Paris, I got a call from Avis saying there is a small scratch on the windscreen and they asked me to come back. I told them that's ridiculous, I was out of the country and the car was already inspected when I brought it back. Guy hung up on me. Back in the US, Avis did not refund me the 200€ safety deposit. In addition, my credit card was charged an additional 700€ for no reason. The main Avis customer service was no help: THIS AVIS LOCATION IN UNTERSCHLEISSHEIM IS NOT AN OFFICIAL AVIS LOCATION. I had to call the small office myself but the guys there weren't helpful because they don't do the billing. At the end, I had to activate the American Express fraud department to get my money back. Thankfully, I also had American Express rental car insurance. Do not rent here!

They will try to find small scratches that were likely already there, or even worse something "wrong" on the bottom of the car, and then charge you $900+. AVOID. Two months after we rented a car with Hertz in Germany, we were surprised to receive an…read moreunauthorised charge and damage charges amounting to 374 euros for a scratch to the wheel alloy that we did not do. Hertz took out 29.75 euros from our credit card without any explanation or receipt. When we posted a comment on Facebook, they deleted it. When we messaged them on Facebook, they did not reply. Hertz Munich is now extorting us with claims that we had damaged the car and insist that we have to pay for something that we did not do! This is not the first time we have hired a car from Hertz. We have also hired Hertz cars in various countries numerous times. The car was picked up at night without any personnel accompanying us and we signed the forms at the counter before we collected the car at a multi-story carpark. Our car was also black and it was 8pm at night in a dimly lit parking lot, we had a good look at the car and did not see any visible damages. Upon returning the car, the Hertz personnel was overly aggressive and acted like a dash hound, asking my husband to move away from the vehicle as though it was a police inspection. When I came over to join my husband, he became very confrontational and barked at me asking her what I was doing over here when it was a multi-storey parking lot where multiple cars drove in every minute to return cars. He was unfriendly, sexist and discriminating of my race. He acted as if I was some some illegal immigrant. I was shocked and felt that I was treated like some prostitute just because I was of Chinese ethnicity, dresses well and wears make-up. I am still very upset about how I was being treated at that time. Suddenly, he pointed out that the alloy on the wheel had been damaged. My husband and I had to bend over and even with the flash torchlight on the wheel, we could not see what looked like a scratch until he placed his finger at the exact spot. At that point of time it didn't occur to me like it did now that he could have already known about this pre-existing issue as he had spotted the "damage" almost immediately. We had taken our own pictures at the Hertz rental return site which were in stark contrast to those that Hertz GE Damage had sent us. In the images that GE damage had sent us, there were not one but two damages and the tiny scratch to the wheel alloy looked a lot worse. They had also taken off the tire wheel to emphasise the damage. I would like to point out that the car had travelled 23,000 kilometres before us and is certainly a few years old. A car that has seen so much mileage cannot have zero pre-existing damages, especially ones that are minuscule and cannot even be seen with the naked eye (view attached pictures we took). We took some pictures during the Hertz car return inspection. If you take a closer look at the photos, you will see that the the wheel alloy damage would not be possible without the tire wheel being unaffected. We can send you the attachments if you would like. Hertz has informed us that the collection agency would be in touch with us if they do not receive the alleged charges by 19 May. This is looking very much like an alleged and fake damage case. If you were to rent a car in Munich, please take extra precautions and learn from our mistake - avoid renting with a Hertz franchise.

My experience at this branch was terrible. Then I received an "upgrade" because the car I originally booked, was not available (if you consider a minivan to drive around the city an upgrade). I received the car that I drove for a few days, and did not have any problems. When I returned the car, the Sixt employee checked the car for almost 10 minutes until she found a tiny scratch, that I could not have possibly detected during my own inspection of the car during pick-up (she actually had to wipe off dust in several places to find something). I was then threatened that the employee would send me the bill to cover the cost for the bumper. It was obvious that the employee did not care at all about the customer at all, ruined my evening, and now I have to deal with the legalities to correct this issue. Would not recommend to book here!
