Formerly Sun Wing Supermarket, this store has recently reopened as Enson Market under new ownership. During my recent visit in July, it was clear they're still in the middle of renovations. The entire fresh produce section was partially blocked off with construction tarps, and the hot food counter near the entrance--which previously served roast duck, char siu, crispy pork belly, rice, and vegetables--was completely closed.
The biggest disappointment was the produce selection. Many shelves had very little stock, several sections were completely empty, and the overall selection was far more limited than other Asian supermarkets like 99 Ranch, H Mart, Jusgo, or Welcome Market. While the seafood, meat, and grocery aisles were open, it still felt like the store was in the process of getting fully established.
Near the entrance, I did notice a small section of discounted items that may be worth browsing for a bargain. The staff were also friendly during my visit.
At the moment, I'd recommend giving Enson Market another month or so to finish the renovations and fully restock its inventory before visiting. I hope they're successful, but they'll need to offer a better selection--and likely competitive pricing--to compete with the well-established Asian grocery stores in the Chinatown area. I'll be back later this summer to see how things have progressed. read more
