We ate here on 6-6-2020. We were super disappointed. We got the pony shoes, and the burger meat had a terrible rubbery feeling and taste. It was drowned in fake cheese sauce (I don't think it was homemade).... and the "Texas" toast it claimed to come with was a thin slice of bread. I would not go back or suggest to others. I wondered if maybe their ingredients / menu was different bc of covid19? Surely their grass fed beef is better normally. A fellow hockey mom found this gem while we were in town for our sons' tournament. Apparently famous for their cheese curds, which thankfully several orders of them were placed at our table, so I can see why. They are coated in a thin beer batter, fried and served with a sriracha ranch sauce that sounds spicy but isn't. I couldn't have eaten the huge plate of them as my meal. So. Damn. Delicious. We split a Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich, which was good, but not spicy or saucy. Sadly, Nashville would be disappointed in this representation of their infamous chicken. The onion rings on the side made up for it though. Sliced thin and coated in the same batter as the cheese curds- you could bite into it without a giant piping hot slimy onion flying out and hitting you in the face. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal and the service was fantastic. If you find yourself in the unfortunate event of visiting Springfield the upside would be eating here. read more

My family and I went here the night we got in to start off our Springfield trip. The beers they offer are wonderfully priced (the flight especially), and we loved trying them. My personal favorite is the oatmeal stout. The service was excellent; we were seated quickly and the waitress was patient with us as we took our time to figure out what we wanted. We ordered a basket of cheese curds to share, and they were absolutely delicious. I ordered flatbread pizza, which was delicious and just what I wanted. The portion was a little too big for me alone, so I had to box it up and save it for a late-night snack. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well -- really great food with decent portions. We went into this thinking it was gonna be really good. I was recommended the meatloaf. It took forever and when I finally got it, it was ice cold. The waiter took it back to the kitchen and they microwaved it. We ordered dessert thinking that we wouldn't have to pay for it, we were wrong. They did not take anything off of the ticket. I have sent pics, and I will never understand why have a bun smaller than a 1/2lb burger, that is foolish! And even more concerning was the fact, that I'm staying in a brand new hotel next door, your biz isn't good, and you cut back on condiments and spend on a too Bigga bun? We sat at a high top table for 20 minutes thinking it was first come first serve, while multiple servers kept looking at us funny. After 20 minutes someone came over and told us we had to move. Had a great experience here recently. Restaurant became busy as it was a weekend evening, but the staff were still attentive & friendly. Our waitress was really sweet to our toddler, which is always a plus! My husband had a flight of beers & the staff were very informative of their brews. All of our dishes came out hot & yummy. Engrained continues to be one of our go-to places for dinner on the nearly weekly basis. The craft beer is amazing and the Faroe Islands salmon is one of our favorites. I love that they have a vegan menu for our friends, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Sometimes it can get pretty loud in the main bar area, but the patio is a nice, seasonal option if it becomes overwhelming. They have nice, private rooms for large groups to meet. We are staying at the hotel next door and decided to order online for pick up. When we arrived, they had just gotten our order through their system and said their kitchen was already closing. However, the employees were so friendly and said they would see what they could do. The kitchen staff went ahead and made our order and everything was delicious! So exciting to find a nice craft brewery in my company's home city. It's also close to my hotel - win win! It's a large location, a good sized parking lot, a decent sized bar, plenty of seating inside and out. Large menu with lots of options. The beer is tasty - great for me - i like their heff, their shandy and some of their berry ones! Yeah! Some of the staff is beyond friendly and helpful, some are wonderful eye candy and some are just not very good. So go with an open mind and plenty of time! But enjoy the beer! read more

First Yelp review. On a recent business trip, I stayed in hotel next to Engrained, and there was literally no other restaurant close by in this newly developed area. I ordered the Seasonal Harvest Salad with tofu. Superb! How can you mess up a salad? Plenty of restaurants do but this had the perfect balance of greens and toppings. Cooked parts done perfectly. Had the rib special, I'm not a fan of bbq sauce smeared all over the ribs as these were. When my dinner arrived it must have been plated earlier than the others at our table. I order the beer sampler. And they were out of two. The server gave me doubles of some to round it out. That was frustrating. Don't offer it if you are out. I ordered the smoked mozzarella stuffed meatloaf and Caesar salad. The dressing was really oily. The meatloaf was ok but not great. The cheese had pooled onto the plate by the time it was served. I am an avid beer drinker. I like it. A lot. I like all beer, except light beer. Been on the IPA bandwagon for a while and have moved away from the heavy malt stuff. I don't pretend to know the difference between different hops, nor am I able to identify 'tasting notes,' or anything like that. That said, Engrained makes the best beer I have ever had. The IPA is my favorite beer of all time. Sometimes they add stuff to it (juniper was amazing, grapefruit was pretty good), but in every form I have had it in, it is outstanding in its flavor and its freshness. Engrained also has some wonderful people working there. Chris, Gene, and Bethany: each a lot of fun, very helpful, and Chris is an expert on most things alcohol or pop culture-related (other things as well, I am sure, but he plays to his audience.) Really I have never been treated poorly nor had bad service, but I know the names of those three. It's a relaxing place if you go on an off-hour, a fun/exciting place if you go when it's busy. The food is hit and miss. Do not expect American Harvest or Augies. We think they should consider scaling down the menu a little and focus on the things they do well (appetizers are unique and delicious; I've had some good steaks there; the burger bun and fixins are good but they really need to ditch the weird hard puck thing and hand-press them), and ditch the stuff they haven't been able to get right, like pizza. I eat there, and you should, too. Just temper your expectations a little. But you should definitely go there to have a few beers. Get your growler filled up. Say 'hi' to the staff. Ok let's be honest. The food was good.... Here's the issue. Service. We waited over an hour and a half for appetizers. Now when I say service I'm talking about the cook staff being poorly managed. We arrived at 7:30 which was not very busy and the cooks were backed up. Look I understand you "just opened" but an hour and half for appetizers? Come on! I can't sit here and bash completely as the beer was tasty. With that said stop being sheep Springfield and blindly accepting poor service because its new.
