An impressive stock of bargain boxes, I was thrilled to spend a couple hours there last night rooting through the boxes.

They have the nearly the best selection of board games (second to Hobbytown) in the valley with MUCH better customer service and competitive pricing.

Decent stock of new comics, but doesn't seem to carry any CCG/TCG cards aside from Magic The Gathering. An entire wall of the store is taken by the extensive selection of Graphic Novels. Sells comics in bunches/sets if you are looking to start a collection. Store also stocks a half wall of toys towards the back and collectable figurines around the register area in the front. Clean, well lit, and organized. Literally, the store is stocked from bottom to top. Whitehall Mall is more of a shopping center then a mall, with most of the stores having external entrances, Comicmasters is located in the small indoor "mall" portion. The indoor portion of the mall was rather dimly lit during our evening visit.

New releases, with variant covers ( at no extra cost ) retro and vintage comics that were in decent shape. I was extremely impressed with the customer service skills. There was a gentleman in there when I was there, that had an intellectual disability and the employee was very good with him and patient. It was refreshing to have someone that knew what they were talking about. can't wait to return.

The shop expanded in early 2021 into previously vacant space and now has a new external entrance. Essentially, they moved all the comics and toys into the new space, and converted the old space into a gaming area. This expansion led to the closing of JAF's second location at the Palmer Park Mall, which had quietly become a standout shop for its new pull selection and $1 book bins. The shop has a good selection of new comic books and graphic novels. They have a fair selection of wall books and collectables. Longbox selection wildly varies. While they do have many, the cheaper boxes are located on the floor, making them hard to comfortably access. I wasn't here for the selection of gaming items, so I can't comment on that part of JAF. Staff have been a strong part of JAF, generally being friendly and helpful. JAF for me is challenging to rate, as the "main" store has always been a little average compared to other local shops. It's worth a stop to browse if in the area but going out of the way to come here would be a question. Overall, JAF is a 3.5, but rounding it up to a 4.

During one of the rounds, I witnessed…read morethe following incident between two players, I will refer to here as Player 1 and Player 2. Player 1, who was new to completive play, shuffled his deck after a deck search, but did not offer it to Player to for a cut before drawing from a card effect. Player 2 called a judge after this happened. After reviewing the situation, the judge issued Player 1 a warning for failing to present the deck for a cut. Following this ruling, Player 2 became visibly upset and began using profanity and getting very angry, where I was feeling unsafe. Player 1 attempting to deescalate the situation responded, "you don't have to rule shark me over it." Player 2 then escalated the situation by saying, " meet me outside and see what F***ing happens" along with other curses and violent threats. The head judge, Alan, attempted to disqualify both players, despite Player 1 being the target of the threats. Player 2 left the venue. Player 1 stated he would contact the police regarding the threats if he was disqualified, the judges allowed Player 1 to stay and finish the tournament, where he placed second. During the tournament, Judge Alan proceeded to act unprofessionally towards Player 1, and threw prize packs aggressively at him at the end of the rounds. After the event concluded, the judges informed Player 1 that he was banned from future tournaments at that store. Based on what I witnessed, and as an active member in the community and pokemon professor, I believe this decision was unfair, as Player 1 did not instigate the confrontation and was subjected to direct threats from Player 2. This store and the judges have a very bad reputation in the area, being unfair to new players and unsafe for women to play. The judges have also made fun of the community calling them "autistics". I strongly believe that they should not be in good standings with the Pokemon Play Community and should not be a sanctioned store.

Inside the store, the first area to greet you is board games, with options for different game styles and interests available. Pretty ok selection for reasonable prices. Towards the middle of the store is the cash register area on the right with collectors' "weapons" displays overhead for safe keeping and display. To the left is a section with American DC/Marvel comics and a small shelf of manga. Further back is a smaller, more specific modeling and other comic related section, followed by open tables in the back for Magic and other card games. Terrific idea to incorporate tables for player interaction and provide a space for gamers to enjoy games in person. In the very back is an e-sports area with consoles and computers set up. When I visited, these weren't in use, but good idea for non-covid times. I also noticed signs posted up for special game nights on certain days a week, for example one sign listed a Pokémon weekly game night. Covid-related: staff wore masks as did most of the patrons. There is a sign on the door requesting customers to wear face coverings. There did not seem to be a limit on # of people in the store, and when I was there on a Saturday early afternoon there was probably around 10 people in the front section of the store and about a dozen seated in the game-play area in the back.

It shares the building with other business including a CVS, and parking is shared with their lots or on the street. This is a light comic book shop with limited selection, to the point if they dropped comics from there name, I don't think anyone would notice. Handful of wall books and mostly modern books in their short boxes. Graphic novel selection was better than average with several shelves. Portal primarily focuses on gaming, with them having a large board gaming selection. Other gaming items are located around the shop, including various Warhammer items and paint for gaming items. Gaming space is located in the back of the shop, in a separate room from the merchandise. Overall, if you are looking for gaming items, The Portal should meet your needs. They have been around for 20 years now, but they have really fallen since their prime years. What used to be a fun place with stocked shelves has turned into a skeleton of its former self. May empty shelves with little to no restock other than board games. Their D&D is almost nonexistent, their Warhammer barely there, and comics are laughable. They are always out of stock of MTG boxes so don't try unless you pre order. Seems like they only focus on selling on TCG. Even their webstore is empty, almost every item on their is listed as out of stock. Its actually depressing walking in there now. The employees are awkard and stare at you like you have three heads. I remember years ago there were 4 co-owners and there was always 1 or 2 of them there, I believe their names were Brian and Andy. They were always friendly and would often Join in for a game of MTG or Heroclix if no one else was around. There are now multiple shops around with better service and stock. I recommend skipping this store and trying one of the other Lehigh Valley Stores

Has some toys and collectables spread throughout the shop. They have a good selection of board gaming and other gaming items. I'm interested to see how this move works out for Cloud City. Lehigh Valley Mall is a good mall with lots of foot traffic. Biggest issue Cloud City has is they are also now in direct competition with the areas highest end comic shop, ComicMasters, which is located in the Whitehall Mall across the street. I'm not sure Cloud City has the product selection to compete.
