The coach offered my daughter to try a class whithout telling us that we will be charged. The owners blam us for not reading the rules posted on no place on the wall nor the front desk. Getting money for them is more preferable than loosing a customer. Very unprofessional customer service. We end up paying for that class and dropping my kid from all their system. Especially if the student is interested in developing as an artist of dance versus training as a competition dance/dance team style dancer. This is a great studio for kids who want to be dedicated to dance. It is not the lovey-dovey type of studio that you find at other places but exists to make better dancers of kids and put on an awesome recital. Having had my daughters at two different studios prior, I was originally a little put off at the price of the recital and costumes but once seeing the production, you realize it's a show and not just a recital. My daughter is 12, and just performed in her first recital with Encore. Now that we have gone through a full cycle of classes, rehearsal, and final performance, I can honestly say this studio is one of the best. My daughter tried 5 dance studios over the past 7 years before finding Encore. Ultimately, we were looking for top notch, experienced staff, with students who are very dedicated and have little time for drama and cattiness. My wife was concerned at first bringing her to Encore, because most of the kids her age had been dancing there for 5 years or more. But the girls were warm and welcoming to "the new girl," and within a couple weeks, my daughter got in the groove and flourished. The teachers are all professional dancers, and this leads to their absences from time to time when they are performing. This is a very easy price to pay in order to have my child learn from people who actually make a living from dance. The substitute teachers are very used to moving in and out of classrooms, and make an effort to know the kids, even if they don't know if they will be teaching them again any time soon. Again, highly professional. I don't always take the time to write reviews. After the recital last night, I wanted to write this one. I was expecting a dance recital. What I got out of it was so much more. I realized for the first time that Encore is not about teaching dance. It is about creating performers who dance beautifully. The recital was a full-blown production. The costumes were fantastic, the choreography was beautiful, and the children performed in character. I am a former actor, and this caught me completely by surprise. Until last night, I had never seen a dance recital where the dancers assumed the roles of the characters they were portraying. A 3-hour story was told, it flowed, and over 90% of the performers remained in character, even down to the littlest dancers. I have to admit, I had walked in somewhat cringing at the thought of sitting through a 3-hour dance recital. My wife and I left blown away by what we had just seen. It was the first dance performance that we could invite people to, and they would enjoy it for the amazing production that it was. If you are serious about dance, performance, stage presence, and teachers who want to bring out the best in your child, this is the studio to try. read more

i know for sure that there was another review about encore dance centre posted here that painted a less-than-stellar picture of what their experience was like. i'm not sure why it was deleted, as it was truthful without being slanderous. come on, yelp. isn't that what the point of these reviews is - to share all experiences with a company or service, good AND bad? my daughter was a student at encore for almost two years. we were faithful attendees, referred friends there, participated in the recital, added a second class to our weekly schedule. the teachers and kelly at the front desk were all wonderful, friendly, helpful. the owner was brusque and barely polite, but not enough for me not to enroll my daughter into her first dance class. unfortunately, what soured our experience and eventually led to our departure was an extremely unpleasant encounter with her (bonnie, the owner). while my daughter was not directly involved, i watched this woman single out two students who were all of five years old, apparently for not being up to her standards. in front of other students, parents, and whoever else happened to be around, she pointed at them and loudly berated them and their parents. this is unacceptable to me. i am extremely opposed to supporting a business run by someone who should be supportive of her students, yet is the polar opposite. i realize that she claims to have been in the dance industry for 30 years - perhaps that is the issue. it seems that teaching younger children is not necessarily her strength, and she should leave those classes in the capable hands of her instructors. since we left, i've heard tales of many, many parents pulling their kids out of this school due to similar circumstances. i guess this should serve as fair warning to anyone looking to enroll here, and hey - if you want more details, message me. i'm happy to help. read more

Yelp should not allow negative and HONEST reviews to be pushed aside and deleted. Those who've posted 5 star reviews are most likely the owners 'favored' families. That's what this business is built on. Money and favoritism. PROS: I danced at Encore for 12 years straight. I loved my teachers and I loved the recitals. Unfortunately, thier are many more cons than pros to dealing with the owner of this studio. CONS: The owner is ruthless. Though she runs a studio filled with talented teachers, parents and students are under her thumb all the time. If this means she offends you, then oh well! Very little support of her students. She cares about the money. Being a dedicated student was not enough for her. She belittled many of us who grew up together in the same classes through out childhood into our late teens. As many as 8/10 of us are completely horrified at how our ending came in this studio. She got what she wanted out of us: money and talent. Completely takes your time and money for granted. We have been with Encore Dance for three and a half years. We have had a very positive experience. The staff is extremely professional, nurturing, and supportive. The owner runs a tight ship which is necessary to put together the wonderful and amazing annual recitals. My daughter started at the age of 3. She cried at her first recital due to nerves. Three years later with the instruction and support of the teachers, including the owner, she has developed the confidence to enjoy performing on stage. It is Jon competitive but they have a couple annual performances, the last one being Willy Wonka and boy did they put on a show! The instructors are amazing, the owner knows this business inside & out and I love that the emphasis is on training great dancers vs winning competitions. The staff and owner could care less about family time with your kids. They have practice till 10PM on school nights, practices on holiday weekends, school breaks, and Sunday's. So if you like family vacations and spending time with your kids, then this is not the place to have your kid. read more

My daughter has danced at Encore for the past four years and we couldn't be happier with the dance studio. The owner of the studio made us feel welcomed from day one. The instructors she has are incredibly talented and are so good with the students. My three children, two daughters and one son, all take lessons at Encore. My oldest daughter just performed in her 5th June Recital and it was the 4th for my other daughter and 3rd for my son! My children have grown so much in their dance skills and really look forward to going to dance each day that they are heading to the studio. The entire staff is very well-qualified,supportive and wonderful. My children are inspired and motivated and a big part of that is due to their positive experiences at Encore. I went to this dance centre since I was 15. I am now almost 18 and have not been moved from beginning ballet. I have seen much younger girls that started out with me in beginning ballet being moved up and I am still in the place. It's frustrating. Also, the girls that go to this studio are not very friendly. I've never felt welcomed by the other girls. Although, this studio has amazing and kind instructors that will always help you become better. Kelly, the receptionist, is great. She is extremely friendly is memorizes names very quickly! read more

My oldest daughter has been with Encore 3 1/2 years now. My littlest for 2 yrs now. As said in other reviews it's like an extended family! Encore treats these kids like there own. Praise, joy, fun and overall professionalism. You are able to watch through a window or on a TV monitor your tiny dancer blossom into a true dancer. Learning the actual steps along with the names/terms to execute an amazing performance in June and December. Encore is a second home to my daughter. She has been dancing there since she was three and I danced there as a child myself. She is loved, nurtured and encouraged by all of her teachers. I have never picked her up without a smile on her face. Encore has amazing instructors with excellent credentials and backgrounds. The teachers drive in from Los Angeles so you are getting high quality instructors without making the drive into LA. The owner, Mrs. Bonnie, puts her heart and soul into her shows and they are AMAZING! All of the teachers and staff truly care about my child and I always know that she is loved and that they want the best for her. I was greatly disappointed with this studio. There seems to be a core group of insiders who happily get the best parts and have been there for years . they are supported by The owner who takes care of her cadre of dancers while using the other clients to pay the bills. There are automatic hidden fees for fund raisers that don't exsist and classes that have instructors who don't show. Encore is a wonderful dance studio. The instructors here are top-notch. Many are professional dancers and have amazing dance and/or teaching backgrounds. My daughter has danced here for five years, and she has never once had a bad teacher... even substitute teachers here are amazing. The owner of the studio puts her heart and soul into this place and into the dancers here. She is present and involved on a daily basis. You can see her walking through the studio and peeking into the classrooms, keeping tabs on what students are learning, and how they are progressing. Another great thing about this place is that it is a non-competitive studio, which allows students to focus on great technique and quality dancing, without the pressure to compete. The atmosphere among the parents and the students is friendly and positive. The recitals are beautiful and showcase every student, from the littlest ballerinas to the senior dancers.
