I have gone back and forth with deciding on whether I wanted to write this review, but here it goes: First, I want to say Ms. Brianna, Ms. Rhegan and Ms. Melanie are great amazing teachers. You can tell they love what they do and are good at doing it. With that being said, it is sad that there is -NO consistency- when it comes to the teacher's scheduling. I had my daughter enrolled and she loved it so much and had so fun, but her teacher was supposed to be Ms. Brianna and literally it was sub after sub after sub every week! I swear my daughter only had Ms. Brianna present 3 classes out of the 2.5 months my daughter was enrolled. I was super sad as Ms. Brianna really knows how to control a class give our kiddos the structure and focus they need. One time even the business owner's minor daughter had to teach the class due to scheduling issues with the teacher. Really? I just don't understand how this place is ran. The business owner just hopes and prays the teacher shows up? The business owner is never here. It's only ever a teacher and unknowing, yet trusting parents and their kiddos, which in hindsight now makes me uneasy. Another sub that showed up to teach my daughter's class seemed new and didn't know what the heck she was doing. She had no routine ready to go or nothing. I didn't even care to catch her name because I knew it was going to be the last class my daughter was at. I even emailed weeks ago to see if there could be an alternative class my daughter could be placed in with a consistent teacher, and I got NO RESPONSE to this day. Following that, I withdrew my daughter. Broke my heart, but I had to. Enrollment is $90 a month for inconsistent teachers and inconsistent routines. So all this to say, if you're looking for structure for your kiddo, this is NOT the place, I am sorry to say. Do better, or sell your business. I hope Ms. Brianna, Rhegan and Melanie all take their talents elsewhere. read more

The idea of ballet classes sounds great, but with little structure, consistency, or professionalism (in some classes) it was very disappointing . Some teachers are out frequently that they visibly struggle to get the classes a substitute. More than once, there have been teenagers/children substitute teaching with absolutely no qualifications. We have even come to a scheduled class where a substitute never showed. I know life happens, but we were also never contacted. That should not be acceptable in any business. In addition, there should be set norms for parents who are there to watch their kids. Some parents are talking on their phones, shouting their kid's names out repeatedly during class, or having loud full on conversations with others. It is so distracting! The studio is small and expectations should be set. If your only expectation is having your child dress up and look cute...then this might be for you. If you want your child to consistently learn something with each class, look elsewhere. read more

I give them a try for a while,once there was a teacher who also a babysitter and she took her two babysits there teaching the kids.even I love kids,but they distracted the teacher's attention.Second time,the teacher called out,and I believe it's the back office stuff teached the kids instead,and her feet hurt,so she had the class with two crutches, Excuse me,that is a dance class ,and the class was late 15 minutes,but end at the regular time.And,sometimes,there are 10 students together at that small classroom.there is no discipline,and I never see someone clean the classroom,my daughter's white leggings alway dirty,and in winter,It's freezing in the classroom... DIRTY, DINGY, needs a complete REMODEL. I expected more from this place, the walls are dirty, floors looked like they haven't been cleaned in months, the borders are all scuffed and scratched. Dirt and dust piles that I'm sure have been there for a while now, the walls are banged up. I've been bringing my daughter on and off for a year now. We recently did a trial and we loved it! We want to book the class with ms. Brianna but when we call the phone doesn't ring help please!

I went there for a second time to give it a try as the first session was instructed by a young lady who seemed inexperienced in both dance and skills to teach young children. The second time around, the instructor who seemed like she was in her late teens, did instruction for 30 minutes with half hearted attitude and then the last 10 minutes, she sat on her computer and had my 2.5 year old and other kiddos drawing. When they'd come up to her for help, she'd just sit there and smile. I called the owner during session showing a picture of the instructor just sitting there, she called the instructor to which she walked up to me and said that she did the 10 minute rest because a previous student from another class wanted a 10 minute break... interesting reason. That's another student in another class, please dont waste my money and our time. The dad that was present there told me that it's usually like this, but he just comes because there isn't another class in san dimas. Extremely pricey for such low quality sessions. read more

Shout out to our teacher who is amazing with the toddlers. My toddler has has the attention span of a mouse and our teacher is very patient and strict at the same time which I love about her. Teaching is one of the most difficult jobs out there and chasing the little ones is like herding cats and it is not an easy job. Our teacher makes it look easy and she is elegant and professional at the same time. We love our tutu class and our kiddo enjoys going as well. Yes you color at the end of the lesson (response to previous Yelp critic) but it's IMPOSSIBlE to expect a toddler to dance the WHOLE time without losing it . I want to start off by saying only reason why we have lasted so long at this studio is because we love Ms. Bri. My daughter currently attends and truly loves Ms. Bri, she's so sweet and patient and all the kids love her. We have had a few subs along the way and none compare. Now their admin side totally unworthy, give wrong information, I have called a few times recently and asked a few questions they: 1. Never know, never call back with an answer. I have to pester, after they say they would call back. 2. Told me they were open, drove to San Dimas from Ontario for it to be closed even when I mentioned to the man on the phone "Are you sure class is still on?" Which was still during the holiday season I believe it was around Christmas break, Oh yes and calls usually go straight to voicemail. One that sticks out the most, on Tuesday March 5th, the owner walks in the studio (rudely) does not say hello to anyone until the instructor says hello to her first. Totally disregards us parents, walks back out from the bathroom just to look at her dance instructor up and down like she is doing something wrong as if no one is looking at her directly, be disrespectful. Which rubbed us parents that were there the wrong way. I couldn't bare mention that to the instructor because I felt so bad. I felt so grossed out. So unprofessional of her. The owner proceeds with interrupting the instructor, without saying excuse me in the middle of a class with our children. Then she takes a call and walks back out as if we aren't contributing to her business. Not once did she acknowledge any of us parents or the kids. A hello or a smile would have been great. Ms. Bri then continues the class like her gentle sweet self.... I'm just baffled. The only reason why I knew this was the owner was because one of the moms there that night mentioned that she was. I would have never guessed with how she presented herself. As to why I'm writing this review says enough. Only plus side of this studio is their website, easy to navigate. As much as this hurts, I know my daughter would be devastated to not see Ms. Bri anymore. We have decided to cancel our membership with Tutu school. I won't support bad business. As for the owner, you have four locations? Make some changes, no excuses, you aren't doing justice to your business with that poor attitude. read more

We tried a trial class here in the 18 month to 3 year olds class. We loved Shelly (the teacher) and the format of the class. The studio is super cute and the class we went to was a nice small class size. The class started with stretches and some basic ballet positions. They later add props and practice a piece they will be preforming in their winter recital. They end with a story and coloring. Shelly was available after class to answer my questions. If you are considering a ballet class in the area I would say this is a great choice. It can get pricey with the monthly $88 plus recital fees/costume and then tickets to see the recital but Shelly was a good teacher and the class was organized and ran well. read more

I am writing this review today to complain a bad experience from an employee. I am semi new to the tutu ballet school and enjoyed bringing my daughter here. However I was disappointed of the lack of professionalism from the instructor and patience. I was aware of the effort this sport requires, but I did not like the ways the teacher is always annoyed of the children's actions. I believe the institution is pricy for the lack of experience from the instructor and patience towards children. I had the pleasure to meet miss Shelly and enjoyed her as a teacher for my child, yet the current one does not ever seem to be in a mood to teach ballet. Her dress code should be more profesional and her way of teaching should be better. She expects so much and does not seem to put the work to teach the girls steps she want them to know. This review is specifically for my daughter's ballet teacher Holly. She is absolutely amazing! She is so positive and encouraging, and definitely knows how to work with young children. My daughter tells me all the time she wishes she could go to Tutu School every day, and I think this is mainly because Holly is so fun and a wonderful teacher. She does age appropriate activities while still giving them a challenge to help them learn and grow. She never makes a child feel bad for not doing something right and really puts effort into guiding and helping them. I hope she will always be our teacher. 10 stars for Holly! read more

We came here for a trial lesson for my daughter (4.5). The teacher was extremely welcoming and very sweet. The studio itself was small and had little seating or anything for younger siblings to do. The lack of division between parents and dancers caused the kids to be distracted and the parents having to continuously tell their kids to focus or correct their behavior. One teacher can only do so much if she has to contend with a constantly distracted kids, an open room, and parents interjecting. I also thought it was odd that a dance studio didn't have a full length dance mirror, but whatever. I thought the curriculum was lacking in both skills and fun. The last ten minutes the class colored...I didn't see the point of having my daughter come to dance class to sit on the floor and color. When I asked my daughter if she has fun, she said it was ok and she's pretty easy to please. So it wasn't worth the cost of signing up for us. My oldest daughter is 4 and she is about to turn 5 in a couple of weeks. We put her in this class almost 4 months ago because she expressed interest in being a ballerina. Every week she looks forward to going. We've never once gotten a "I don't want to go today" or " I don't like going" from her. The reason we put her in Tutu school at the start of April is because she's starting kindergarten in a few weeks and we wanted something where she could get an idea of what it means to be apart of a group. We wanted her to get the idea of how to wait your turn,not talk when the instructor is talking, and overall interacting with other children. We've had 2 different instructors while being at the school. Both instructors teaching techniques were different,but not in a bad way! Different dancers need different teaching styles. If one instructor's teaching style isn't working for you that's OK just try a different one,they make it so simple to try a different class. I see some people complain about the questions at the start of class and the coloring at the end,but I love it.The instructor is doing the questions while they're all stretching and warming up for class. The questions are so important it makes your child feel like they know their instructor and stretching is neccesary when it comes to any form of exercising, why not make it fun? The coloring has its pros too the kids get to talk and interact with one another. "Oh you don't have a purple crayon?you can use mine." "What are you drawing" "I like your coloring"My daughter looks forward to seeing all the kids creations every week. Remember the owner has a masters degree in education. That means she's taken several courses on children's needs and wants. I think this class is well thought out and put together. Addressing the comments on seating honestly the seating isn't bad if you dont show up after class starts you will more than likely be able to find a seat. In the 4 months that we've been there I've only had to wait once outside due to seating and that was my own fault as I showed up after class had started, but they have a giant window and I was able to just stand outside and watch my daughter the whole time. I did not find that to be a problem because as I said it was my own fault for not getting there on time. There have been different occasions where I see a kid taking a trial class and at the beginning of the trial class they wouldn't leave their parents side, but by the end of class they were right there learning with everyone else. If your kid doesn't leave your side the first few weeks of classes try not to be discouraged this is something new to them.After a couple of classes and seeing what goes on in class they might break out of their shell and start participating,but it just takes time and patience on the parents part. Right now my daughter has Holly and she seriously loves going to class and looks forward to it every week. There are times where my daughter asks if she can go again in a couple of days. You can tell when someone is geniune with children and when they're meant to be around them and I definitly get that feeling from Holly. Nothing Holly does with the children seems forced. I've never seen her have a bad day and if she has she hasn't made it obvious for the students or parents.My daughter has made it clear to me that she still wants to go to ballerina classes even though she is starting kindergarten soon. She even asked me if Holly was going to be her kindergarten teacher hahaha. I seriously can not give Holly enough credit this class has brought my daughter out of her shell. When you get older you have that teacher that you remember and how they helped you grow as a person, and I definitely feel that Tutu School and Holly will forever hold a special place in my daughters heart. read more

The place is very open for parents to watch their children. A small place for dancing class though. But good enough to accommodate students at least 10. The teacher handles 12-14 students / dancers, if they can but not being able to attend to each one of them. If you attend an earlier sessions/classes, it is very hot inside. Their AC does not work as much unless they just don't turn it up to keep the students cool. Even the parents have to bring their own fan to have an air inside. It's claustrophobic. The dance is very routinary. They hardly have other things to do. The toddlers seems to just play and never get their attention to listen for learning or adapting. The teacher just keeps on doing what she is supposed to without getting the students learn the basics and not worth paying so much for a 45minute run. The place looks neat but not cleaned. Most of the surroundings there are dusty. The bathroom though is better, they put plastics where you can put the used diapers to throw away outside. They have uncleaned changing diaper station (very dusty) but good enough if you put your own cloth to keep your children dry and clean. read more

We were able to experience a ballet class with the B-E-S-T teacher! This, after attending a month worth of classes with a different teacher. I'm so thankful we were given the opportunity to try a different teacher as it is a much better fit for my girls. Quori is our new teacher who is an LA Rams Cheerleader! She is super fun and interacts with the kids on their level! She uses all the props, the bar, ribbons, shakers, circles, etc, it's just great! I would highly recommend you try at least two different teachers, if able, when starting out as to make sure you're comfortable with your choice. My high energy daughter just loves her ballet class. She just moved from the toddlers program to the 3-4 year old class and is having the best time. She is high energy and Megan was really great to help match us with an instructor that was very patient and supporting of my daughter. Seeing my daughter just blossom and enjoy her class is the best part of our week. The studio is cute and loaded with adorable clothing. The instructors we've been paired with have been wonderful and I recommend this studio to all my friends. read more

My daughter went for 4 classes at first, and She loved the idea of dancing ballet and interacting with other children it was great. She was a fast learner and loved dancing; however, she is a 3 year old child and maybe sometime towards the end she will be distracted. As a parent I realized that the instructor would not pay attention to them as needed. She was not patient with the children and was always complaining. I believe for the amount that each class cost this shouldn't be happening. In my opinion the teacher should be nicer and more patient, also there I believe she's not the right person for this job . My 2yr old just started coming here a few months ago. They do offer a free trial class so you can bring your toddler in to see if it is something he/she wants to do. We did that first before enrolling her. My daughter loves Ms. Quori's class. She is super good with children and my daughter responds to her very well. This is a wonderful dance school for young dancers. My daughter loves her class and I can see her improvement every week. I like the set up if the studio because there is a low wall separating the dancers from the parents but we can still see each other. That seems to work nicely for everyone including those kids who are a little shy to join at first. But it also deters the dancers from getting distracted from class by running over to the parents. The teachers are lovely with the kids but also teach them serious ballet terms and positions. There is a great currículum of having a balance between routine and new material to keep them interested. read more

My daughter went there for maybe 4 classes? I chose to try the place based on yelp reviews. After 4 classes I decided to withdraw my daughter and look for another school. First of all, the instructor is always OnTime , I mean right now time, not a minute early. So the students and parents are always waiting at the door. I wonder if she had any prep work done for each class or this is just some side job she does besides her real job. Secondly, the teacher does not instruct, she would lead the kids and not giving them any guidance. I was a dancer growing up, I am not happy seeing my child don't the wrong position and the teacher does not correct her at all. What is point of sending her to dance class then? She could've just follow YouTube video at home. I may be subjective or maybe this is the America way of teacher, but I am looking for a class/ teacher that is little more strict and at least correct my child when she obviously not getting it. read more

My daughter has been going here since January and has loved every single class. She has come a long way ranging from dancing skills as well as social skills. All the teachers are great and always polite. They offer a free trial class before you decide if it's right for you child, it's $88 a month. Keep in mind it takes about a month especially for small children to see if they do like it or not. Great first experience! We took our two year old in for her first lesson and loved it! Our daughter was shy but curious and Ms. Alexandra was wonderful. The studio is a perfect setting for little ones. Very inviting. I loved how spacious and colorful it was. My daughter loved the princess dresses on the wall. The class itself was well laid out. Not too overwhelming for beginners but also good for the little ones who had experience. I especially loved the props. I especially loved that there was not a lot of pressure to sign up or become a member on the first day. They made it really easy for us to just see how our daughter would do. My daughter attends the San Dimas location and she loves it, especially Miss Auburn who is her ballet teacher. She's very patient with the kids and you can literally tell she loves her job. I recommend this company to several of my friends who already enrolled their daughters. They have 2 performances every year. One in the spring and another in the winter. It's super cute!
