We are fortunate to have a place like Top Billing Entertainment (TBE), where children can learn, perform, and be part of a community centered around the arts. My child genuinely enjoys the classes, and I have seen regular improvements in her movement, confidence, and performance. I am giving TBE a 3-star rating because I believe there are two significant areas for improvement. 1. Organization and Communication TBE has an opportunity to become much more organized. On numerous occasions, classes have started late or instructors have arrived after the scheduled start time. There have also been times when instructors have needed to stop class to remember routines or choreography before continuing. While understandable from time to time, it happens often enough that it reduces the amount of instructional time the children receive. Communication is another area that could be improved. Most information is shared through the Band app, but it is cluttered and difficult to navigate. When parents ask questions, they are often directed back to the app instead of receiving a direct answer. I would much rather receive emails, similar to the clear communication TBE sends for summer camp. A portion of classes is also spent reviewing upcoming shows, participation requirements, deadlines, and other announcements. While these updates are important, much of this information is repeated week after week and could easily be communicated by email instead, allowing children to spend more time learning and practicing. The website could also be maintained better. Show tickets are sold online, but the website is not consistently updated, making it difficult to know when tickets are available. On several occasions, email links have directed parents to outdated or expired pages. Scheduling can be frustrating. Parents commit to a class schedule and plan around those times, only to have classes combined with another class, resulting in schedule changes. I understand that adjustments are sometimes necessary, but greater consistency and planning would be appreciated. Classroom capacity is another concern. Depending on what else is happening, too many children are sometimes placed into the smaller classroom, which has poor ventilation. It becomes crowded enough that children are unable to practice effectively, and even instructors have commented during class about how crowded the room is while asking students to simply do their best. 2. Pricing and Value I also believe TBE should reconsider parts of its pricing model. Parents already pay monthly tuition, purchase costumes, and buy tickets to attend performances. In addition, children are sometimes required to pay participation fees to perform in the shows themselves. As a nonprofit organization, I worry that these additional fees may unintentionally price some lower-income families out of participating. Ticket prices can also become expensive, especially after online service fees are added. Two tickets can easily cost between $50 and $90 depending on seating. Since many performances are held at the school, more family-friendly pricing would be appreciated. There are also occasions when students are required to wear a TBE shirt for an event. If a family doesn't already own one, they must purchase another item simply for their child to participate. One small thing that stood out to me is that if a child forgets to bring a water bottle, parents are required to purchase a $2 cup so their child can drink water. While the cost itself is minor, it feels like a missed opportunity to extend a simple courtesy. Considering the various fees families already pay, providing a complimentary cup would be a small gesture that demonstrates care and appreciation for the families who support the program. Despite these concerns, I remain grateful that a place like TBE exists. My child enjoys being part of the program, and I appreciate the opportunities it provides for children to grow through the performing arts. I am sharing these observations because I genuinely want to see TBE continue to grow and succeed. I hope this feedback encourages continued improvement and also helps parents who are considering the program better understand what to expect. read more

My son just finished his first role at Top Billing performing 4 shows in 3 days! The experience was phenomenal! Each aspect of this Academy is flawless from the loving, warm, motherly owner, to the inspiring, encouraging and motivating director, to all the support staff whom have a wonderful way with people. You will never feel out of place and this Academy has a way of showcasing your talents and furthermore enhancing them! The Academy puts on Broadway level performances and treats each performer as a member of a team who belongs in this place! Although the rehearsals are demanding, performers and their family members are made to feel like a part of a community, a part of a whole, and each tribe members protects their own! During tech week/ rehearsals, and performance weekend ; my performer told me that he finally felt like he belonged and he found his place and passion! We discovered Top Billing when my daughter participated in the Lion King Jr. summer camp and she completely fell in love with it. She couldn't stop raving about the teachers, the counselors, and the other students who were all very kind to her and made her feel welcome. She wanted to take more classes at TBE and now, she is enrolled in the Musical Theater Performance class with Ms. Eileen, the Matilda Jr. production with Ms. K, Ms. Hannah and Ms. Sofie, and she is also taking private voice lessons with Ms. K. It is quite impressive to see that these classes are run by highly knowledgeable teachers who are experts in their field. My daughter is learning so much from these talented teachers and also from the other students who have been at TBE for years. The students know that there are high expectations and their teachers are available to help guide them to reach their full potential. My 3-year-old and 5-year-old girls are also taking a ballet class with Ms. Hannah and they love it! Ms. K is truly an amazing person! You will find her working incessantly to serve our kids and the community. She cultivates a professional, respectful, encouraging, welcoming, and supportive environment at TBE. I saw the class titled "Hip Hop Hybrid" in the Glendora Activity Book and was so excited to bring a group of 6 year-olds to the class to learn the basic of hip hip dance. This review is based on what I learned, observed and discovered. Things to consider: 1) The class consists of students from 6-11 years old which is a huge age, maturity and learning gap. Basically its a class with Kindergartens through 6th grade. 2) I recommend a creating an introductory course, a dance class that is easier, for students who want to know the basic moves especially for the younger age groups. Experiences: 1) Last week, a random guest came to the class which we found out later was the Director. The tone and the environment was completely different. She sounded very stern, mean and unwelcoming. It wasn't fun, engaging and entertaining for the students. 2) The classroom management was excellent with Hannah and the kids loved her prior to last weeks class. When the Director/owner came to the class, the parents and students didn't know who she was because she didn't bother to create rapport with us. 3) The Director didn't know who who my son was and made a quick judgement based on his abilities who has ADHD and age. My son's name kept being brought up when she was doing her speech with the students/parents which we thought was unnecessary. It felt a little belittling and upsetting to me and my son. He is trying his best and calling him out like will is not good for his social-emotional development. 4) We went ahead and returned our costume for the event and both my sons are no longer attending. The Director failed to respond to my email and did not provide me with the promised refund. Overall: I brought 6 of my sons classmates, all who were at the same age level who were so excited to learn dance moves similar to BTS. Its sad to hear that they are no longer interested. Hope we can try again at a different dance class. read more

Top Billing Entertainment is hands down the premiere performance academy in the San Gabriel Valley! They offer private voice/piano/violin/cello at all levels and are developing some astoundingly talented performers in all areas. We started coming to Top Billing just for private voice lessons, and within less than a year we couldn't help ourselves to become completely involved in just about everything academy has to offer. 1. My daughter has taken private voice for just over a year and her growth and developement under Ms. Mandee has been exponential. She went from a novice to getting acceptd into a vocal arts conservatory for High School in basically 1 years time. The quality of her singing is just unbelievable thanks to Ms. Mandee. 2. The Shows! - if youre child wants to be involved in Theatre, the shows that Top Billing puts on are unbelievable "Broadway Jr." level shows. You will be astounded and your child will be in for an amazing experience. 3. Tons of dance class options for all levels including competitive dance team. This is our first year joinging competitive dance and the cost is extremely reasonable for the level of product, training and competitions. 4. The community - The incredibly involved Director Ms. K and the staff are wonderful and the children learn in a safe space with tons of encouragement to express and be themselves without judgement. There is also a great deal of work ethic and grittiness that the staff instills in the children - particularly at the competitiion dance level. Top Billing is not just training dancers , they are training exceptional human beings! The Parent Squad - The Hidden Gem of this academy are the amazing families involved. We actually make time to socialize outside of the academy because I have honestly developed several new, close friends in the short time I have been involved here. I went to a class with my child, looking for a fun activity. We were so excited. Class started and we were having such a good time until the owner joined in. All of a sudden she started screaming at one of the children, who she felt wasn't acting the way she wanted him to in class. At first I thought it was part of an act, until she yelled even louder and started making fun of the child in front of everyone. I was completely in shock and upset. How DARE you treat a young child that way? These are young and impressionable children, why on earth would you speak to one that way? These classes are for kids, if you can't handle how they act at times DON'T DO this for a living. I do NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

My daughter was taking a ballet class here through the city. I wish the city would have kept classes outside of this facility. I had to give 2 stars because she did enjoy herself. The class was slow moving, even for Littles. The instructors never referred to the kids by their name, only "friend". They struggled to manage children that were not fully compliant (but very typical for their age). The whole class would stop while we waited for the teachers to manage an eloper. The other teacher constantly rolled her eyes and had no idea how to interact with the children. The place was dirty, tables with stuff piled high, disorder all over the walls, and the ceiling in the entrance about to cave in. The kids were distracted by these tables of crap and it was gross when I had to have my child change her shoes on the dirty floor with dust piles everywhere. It's too bad they didn't take care of their beautiful location. The final straw was finding out the multiple they/them staff interacting with kids. Weird and confusing for children to call someone "Mx." instead of Ms./Mrs./Mr. My family does not tolerate this outspoken and loony behavior. read more

A few of us moms have joined a wide variety of activities ranging from arts , cooking, music (piano) and even Karate. So we decided to see if our boys would enjoy the hip hop class. Initially the class was great with the teacher showing strong classroom management , especially with a plethora of boys who are all in the 6-7 year old age group. She was able to keep them on track by providing extrinsic motivation with candy after class and playing games such as dead fish and pirate. When the Director came to visit 2 weeks ago , us moms didn't know who she was and her demenor was really harsh with the kids. Reading some of the comments below from the Director I can attest that none of the parents spoke to her afterwards thanking her for removing a student. That student has been fine in all of the glendora classes and was shown patience along with learning accommodations. Many of us are in the field of education so we know what we are talking about as well. The teacher knows her students best and having an admin/leader/guest take over the class is unnecessary. It changes the learning environment as well the behavior of students. I want the dance school to take my feedback instead of being on a defensive and trying to make an excuse for everything. I am pretty much disappointed in the dance class and hope that leadership changes. Hope things get better and maybe we can try again. read more

Most of your response is inaccurate to my son's truth, my truth, and our experience. I do want to share my truth so other parents can take it into consideration that their child may encounter the boss lady speaking to their child in a certain way when this is a non competitive dance class. I also want to share that if there is an issue with your kid it may be brought up in front of the entire class instead of taking the child aside and speaking to them individually so it protects the child's feelings in being humiliated in front of the class. I am taking time to write this review because the residual feeling from your presence that day impacted ME, an adult, that much. A parent friend I had met with just two weeks prior had to explain to her second grader why the lady was speaking so mean because her son stepped out during break with negative feelings. I just met her and I am just sharing what I witnessed with her and her son and our conversation that the approach was inappropriate. Not loud. I am unbiased to any business decisions you make. I am only speaking to the fact of your tone of voice which wasn't just loud, but demeaning and demoralizing to KIDS. Lastly, as much as I can understand being female and loud and could come off speaking assertively (I am the same way) gender certainly has nothing to do with the tone of speaking to someone. I would not welcome this tone of voice from anybody, male or female. There is no need to make this a gender issue. Nor an issue about how you just have a loud voice. I have a loud voice too. I am assertive in my speaking too. However, in life, we have to learn that what we say and how we say things are unwelcomed and thus we need to pivot with our environment and audience. I do not care your reasons for why you did what you did or what was happening in class. It's just not right to speak to children in the tone you did and lecture them in the way you did. Her 1st recital was during COVID, so they created a dance video in studio. At the end, Ms. K had the kids perform in small groups or solos. My daughter was the last one left to perform, and I could tell she wanted to, but was scared. Ms. K and Ms. Hannah were so encouraging and supportive. They gave her the motivation she needed and performed by herself for the first time. This, for me, was the moment I knew TBE was a place for my daughter. And now, 2 years later, she's part of the Showstoppers competition dance team. I've been a part of Top Billing Entertainment since 2014, and it's truly been a super great and fulfilling part of my childhood. Growing up at Top Billing and performing in musicals, Christmas shows, recitals, and most recently, dance competitions, has given me amazing opportunities to grow, and the most amazing culture to grow in. With the focus being on becoming a "tetra-threat" performer (singing, acting, dancing, and playing an instrument), I don't think there's actually a specific label that can be put on TBE, and I don't think it could be compared to other dance studios or musical theater companies. Although the dance classes are taught by true experts in the field and are definitely worth it, if you're looking for a super traditional competition dance studio, this might not be the place for you. The focus is more on becoming a performer in general, and being able to do whatever you might need to in the future. The staff is also amazing. The dance teachers, directors, and everyone else involved are always there for guidance and support, and Ms. K is fundamentally one of the kindest people I've ever had the pleasure to learn from and work with. I love TBE and I have no idea where I would be without it, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a safe, fun environment for their kids to develop their skills. :)) read more

Happiness is... (Top Billing Entertainment)! Seeing my children happy is one of the best feelings in the world. This summer my children had the delight to play a part in Willy Wonka Jr. After, covid my kids spirit seemed dimmed, their inner light was rekindled being part of the cast. I am impressed with Ms. K, Ms Em, and the rest of their team! They manage young kids from the ages from 4 years old to 17 years of age. They embody the splendid skills of training is beyond words. They provided the kids with heads full of knowledge, showed them how to lend a helping hand, opened their ears to listen, bloomed eyes to crinkled in mirth, and gave them the emotional support to dare follow their dreams. This wasn't a one time experience. For my children joined the cast of Susical Jr., Fall 2022, and had another joyful experience. I give them praise for what they give, and that gift is childhood bliss. So if you are looking a sense community for children this is a great place to start. Top Billing is worth the money and time, and if you have a different experience, I must say you have not dedicated enough time. My daughter has been going here since she was 4. She's now 11. She's taken almost every class and would be happy if we could just live at TBE!! The other parents and staff are so nice. I am so glad we found TBE. You can do as little or as much as you and your kids would like. Some people take one or two classes or only do the plays (which are so much fun). Others like my daughter do dance team, plays, summer camps, and musical theater. We just love our TBE family!!! read more

I already loved the classes here but now that we have started experiencing being part of one of their shows- I seriously can't believe how lucky we are to have TBE in our community. They really put 120% effort into everything they do. My daughter doesn't understand the 1 and half hour practices and asks for more. She loves dancing and singing here. We have done both zoom and in person classes and literally you can't go wrong with any of the teachers or any of the classes. We are so grateful to have found and joined the classes here and I can't praise them enough! read more

My son was in Top Billing Entertainment's Wizard of Oz. It was his first show. Miss k and the rest of her staff make the kids feel like a million dollars. She also trains them, since we were invited to do the opening number for the National Youth Association of the Performing Arts awards ceremony, to be kind and to not talk about anybody or their performance because that is not what she represents. She wants everyone to leave feeling good about themselves and know they are doing the best to their ability! She and her group do not put anyone down and to me were just wonderful, all of them, performing Wizard of Oz. You Clarissa b have a right to your opinion but maybe you should come take a look at how hard these kids work and how well they are respected and how you might be hurting someone...a kids feelings before you say anything publicly!!! I have never in all my years of using yelp left a one star review. I am writing in hopes that no other parent has my same experience. I reached out to Top Billing on June 9th to see if someone would be available for a character rental for my son's pirate party. On Thursday, June 9th I spoke to Miss K, she told me it would be no problem and to fill out an inquiry online and that she'd send it out to the performers to see who was available. I didn't hear back so I called again on Monday, the 13th. She told me she was sorry she hadn't called but would send over an email with headshots of the performers available and would I like a boy pirate or girl pirate. I told her we'd prefer a boy since it's a party for my son. I never received that email. I called again the next day, she told me had asked around and was still waiting to hear back from a few of her boys but she would email me that night. STILL no email. I called AGAIN on Wednesday (I probably should have known at this point there was too much disorganization at Top Billing to be reliable) where she (with me on the phone) asked a few boys if they were available. She then told me that unfortunately no boys were available but if I'd be willing to book a girl, "We have so many girls available if you can do that!" So I went home and asked my son who said he'd love to have any pirate! I called her back Wednesday afternoon and let her know my son was fine with a girl pirate. She said she "had two of my college girls in mind for this that are available. I'll send you an email and you can pick which one you'd like." No surprise, I didn't ever get an email. I wasn't worried though, because she had SO MANY girls available. Fast Forward to tonight (Saturday the 18th) I get an email saying no one is available but "Please keep us in mind for the future". So less than a week before my son's birthday and literally the ONLY entertainment we had planned, turned out to be the most flaky and unreliable business I've ever dealt with. I would never recommend this company for an event. read more

My daughter has taken piano and voice lessons with Top Billing since 2016 with Mr. Tim, Ms. K, and Ms. Mandee. All were excellent teachers who have had an amazing impact in my daughter's life. When COVID hit, they adapted with us and we took online lessons until we were able to come back in person. in 2021, my daughter wanted to try being in a big production, so we signed her up for Elf the musical. This was life changing for her as she was not an athletic child. I came to view this as her "team sport" where she learned to work with all kinds of children of different backgrounds and ages. My daughter tells me this was the best decision we ever made for her. Now that she has been there 8 years, we have seen her talent and confidence grow exponentially which has translated to her schooling and many other aspects of her life. She has made lifelong friendships and met mentors who she can count on and who she looks up to. After 8 years at Top Billing and countless shows and productions, her little brother and cousin have now joined her. As an introvert parent with extravert kids, Top Billing is truly a magical place that gives our kids an incredible childhood. I could not be happier with my experience at Top Billing. I signed my 5 year old son up for their musical theater productions, Beauty and the Beast Jr. and Seussical Jr. Not only is he having a ton of fun, being creative, making friends, and learning about performing arts, the teachers and the owner/producer Ms. K, have a genuine and deep care for the kids and get to know them and really see them for who they are. Also, Ms. K. works very hard to keep the environment healthy and bully free for everyone involved which I really admire. They put the children's comfort and individuality first and the beautiful productions and well attended performances are a testament the magic they are able to inspire in these young performers. My son always looks forward to rehearsal and being in the shows and always asks to be in the next one! As a parent, I have volunteered many hours to help make props, costumes, and set pieces for the productions as well as helping out backstage during the shows and it has been so rewarding and a fun way to make new friends, too. It truly is an incredibly welcoming family feeling and takes so many caring hands to create these broadway level children's theater productions. my daughter did classes through the city with this company. I absolutely loved her teacher Ms. Maddie who is definitely 5 stars. I like the local classes convenient at finkbiner park for local Glendora kids. What I was not a fan of, was the crazy long hours of recital practices they expect 3,4,& 5 year olds to attend with allllll other ages. It's not appropriate for little kids. The owner and some of staff the way they yell at parents at the recital practices not so professional lol. There was a Christmas recital the girls were going on stage wayyy past bedtime and all the moms were upset backstage. I think they do a great job with the older children. The costumes are adorable and they put on cute shows. They do cute performances in the village during the holiday stroll. But going to look for something different for my 4 year old as I just don't find it suitable for her age group. read more

This review is for the Fitness classes only for me, as an adult Thirty something momma. (Even though my daughter participates in productions and musical theater here) Great dance cardio with Melanie. It's s really fun hour of different types of dance and very beginner friendly but you get the burn and heart rate up as I'm just getting back to exercise after an injury. Beautiful space , nice floors and fun music. 830 class is perfect after school drop off for us moms too! I loved the barre class here that I tried as well. Christine is a really great instructor and I hope to take more of her pilates and barre too. read more
