To summarize our experience into three primary problems: 1) Multiple snarky comments about how she has other appointments, 2) Poor quality work, 3) Changing the services/price quoted We arrived about 3 minutes early and were led inside to her studio which is in the Phenix building. While letting the kids decide who was going to go first, I encouraged them to decide quickly since the stylist was waiting, which prompted an unnecessary "Yeah, because I have another appointment after you all" as if I wasn't already assuming that would be the case. Whatever, comment brushed off and my daughter decided to go first. The cut itself was uneventful until we were asked how it looked. We had indicated we wanted it layered, which we were quoted $35 and included a shampoo and rinse... The tapering wasn't done, and she indicated it was my son's turn. When I asked about the shampoo and rinse, she insisted that she had to cut off an extra 2" of hair so it was no longer the "trim" but the "specialty cut" which didn't include the wash. But, since she was being so generous, she would only charge us the $35 "trim" price. Interesting way to try and justify removing services while acting like you're doing us a favor. Mind the fact that NO styling was done such as layering. Once my son started, my daughter started playing with the kiddy playset and made a comment about wanting to play together with him. I told her we had other errands to run and the stylist again felt the need to interject with a "Yeah I have other appointments after you." Like I get it, you booked yourself poorly to try and cram more appointments in that day after us, but that's neither our problem nor something that we need to keep being reminded of when I'm already handling the situation. Once she was "done" with my son's hair it was an absolute disaster. Not the cut we requested, not the length we requested, and no product to spike it back up. I had to insist on having her fix all these issues which, of course, prompted her to have to run out into the hall to tell the other customers who had arrived at that point that she was still working on us. Ultimately, I was extremely dissatisfied with the lack of customer service, poor work, and then the bait-and-switch on my daughter's haircut to remove the wash we were promised simply because the stylist felt that taking an extra 2" off with no styling whatsoever somehow justified changing the service we were quoted. We absolutely LOVE coming to Emily! We met her through Little Kuts and have stayed with her ever since! She does such a great job with my 7yr & 2yr old boys and we couldn't be happier with their haircuts! She's very patient, kind and caring towards them which we love! I am very picky about my kids haircuts but she never disappoints! I'm flabbergasted how this stylist has five stars. The quality of the work, the service and the stylist's lack of ability to manage her time properly left my kids with wonky, lop-sided and half-assed hairstyles. We will never return here. My husband made an appointment with her and let her know it was for two kids: girl and a boy. We had a vague idea of what styles we wanted for them. As soon as he got there with the kids, she was rushing them; telling him that she had another appointment in forty minutes. She scheduled two haircuts to be completed in that time, allowing about 20 minutes per haircut. I don't care how skilled you think you might be, but this is not enough time to do good work. Turns out it wasn't enough time and she half-assed their cuts and left them looking lopsided and uneven. I can't even get my daughter's hair to look right, no matter how I style it. It looks like the stylist chopped it and attempted giving her layers, but failed. It looks awful. For my son's hair, we provided a photo of exactly what we wanted. She didn't get it right. It was too long on top and even after being styled, it doesn't look right. She sassed my husband when we tried to get her to correct it. The whole time she was with the kids, she kept mentioning her next appointment and how she was on a time crunch. This stylist needs to learn to manage her time better and not pack two haircuts for KIDS in a forty minute time period. I was wholly unsatisfied and very upset how this whole experience went. Poor, crummy work and the rushed time limit shows in the haircuts. Save your money, and go elsewhere. On top of that she is grossly overpriced! read more

We love Emily! I am extremely particular about my kids hair cuts, i am very picky and lack trust in hair stylists due to my bad experiences and the high standards I hold. I know it sounds stuck up but it is just something I struggle with. When I was finally ready to allow someone to help me with my 1 year olds hair, i was very satisfied with her ability to interview me basically and make happen what I was envisioning for my son. That son is now 4 years old and we've been with her ever since. I also have a 15 year old son who would not get his hair cut for a year because of the bad experiences he kept having at the barber with his dad! They would never get the style right. Finally he gave up and would not let anyone cut his hair anymore! He looked terrible! Just for context, his hair cut is that messy bed head look that all the kids want these days. The problem with this hair cut is, it is supposed to look like "i don't care what I look like" but at the same time I do, right? If you don't do the hair cut right, it either looks like a Mop top or a bob/mullet looking thing okay? I hate this hair cut. I pleaded with him to just go with me and try out my girl because she is good about figuring out what YOU want and making it happen. He did. And she did a great job! I could finally see my son's face after a year of looking at the unintended dread lock Mop top thing going on all in his face. And to make things better he asks for regular haircuts now. I am just so pleased with Emily. She is always accommodating and pleasant to be around. She is kind and great with kids. We were worried when she unexpectedly left little cuts, i had to hunt her down and find her because I believe she was acting in integrity to not tell her customers she was leaving. But I know there are a lot of us who only went there for her anyway. So we continue to follow her where she goes! read more
