I really want to support local shops instead of big box stores, but they never seem to have what I'm looking for, or the prices are outrageous for what they're offering. One of the things I've always loved about shopping local is the knowledge and help the staff can provide. Unfortunately, the last two times I asked for help, I ended up sharing more knowledge with them than they shared with me. That's honestly sad to see. I've loved going to this place over the past couple of years since moving to the area, but I think I may skip it moving forward. I understand this may make me sound like an entitled customer, but I genuinely hope the business sees feedback like this and steps up their game.

Good Earth is such a fun place!…read more I've bought plants, home decor, kids toys and even visited for a private event. While prices are not inexpensive, the product quality is high. We even stopped in to use this as our 'pumpkin patch' for multiple years. They've got a great assortment of plants and in late spring there are herbs and tomatoes and other plants. Then they pivot to summer and then fall flowers and decor and into winter. There is something for everyone! Staff is so friendly. They will stop to answer questions or guide you if you are not sure of what to buy. They may not be readily viewable when you go to check out, but I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for someone to pop up at the register. The parking lot can be busy and it isn't huge, but there is street parking around.

Richard S, Your…read moreresponse confirms the central fact of my review: I purchased $1 worth of merchandise (2 rubber washers) with a debit card, and your employee added $2 in "labor" solely to bring the transaction up to your $3 minimum, even though no additional labor or service was performed. Instead of addressing that, you are attempting to make my reaction the issue. I walked into your store to make a purchase. I did not walk in yelling at anyone. I became angry only after I questioned the charge, called the store and was hung up on, and then returned and was treated dismissively. You are focusing entirely on my eventual reaction while conveniently omitting what caused it. Saying that I "could have walked out" also misses the point. You charged my debit card $2 for "labor" that was never performed. Your own response acknowledges why the $2 was added. I am not asking you to agree with my interpretation of the applicable debit-card rules. I am perfectly willing to let the appropriate consumer-protection authorities and payment-card network determine whether this practice complies with their requirements. And taking a shot at me for misspelling the store's name rather than addressing the substance of the complaint only reinforces the attitude I described in my original review. This was never about $2. It was about how the $2 was charged and how a customer was treated after questioning it. I stand by my review.

A great mix of antiques, vintage decor, and great gift ideas! The visual displays are on point. You can tell the shop owners plan out every detail and their passion and dedication shine through! Their window displays are just a tiny snap shot of the amazing shop that Yearbook is. In addition, their design services are top notch! If you're lucky, during your visit, you may get to meet the official Yearbook mascot, shop dog Henry Clarence. Henry is currently running for president and has done an amazing job raising money for all the animals at the Oak Park animal shelter. I highly recommend Yearbook! Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

When a friend mentioned that there was a VIP shopping night at three places I had heard of and wanted to go to, I was all in. We were assigned to Yearbook first and I was so impressed by everything about the store. From the friendly owner and manager, to the quality of the products and the incredibly reasonable pricing - plus the special discount for that night! I finally got the maple syrup jug (made and bottled just for them) that the husband had wanted and picked up some of their store-exclusive candles (no typical boring scents here!) and a vintage travel case and some wood handled toothbrushes. I've got to go back soon and visit the studio to have some crew-themed pillows, etc. made to bring me back to the days when I actualy rowed. I am so glad we had this forum to shop because I would have missed that things you would just assume are decoration (because they are vintage) are actually for sale! This ACE has repeatedly saved me time and money by suggesting better solutions for home repair. The selection is surprisingly good also and usually has at least a couple of solutions to every home repair problem. Just ask and they will tell you the best solution! On one occasion I had called a professional plumber who declared my kitchen plumbing problem "too hard" with the plumber complaining about the depth of the sink and the relatively high location of the single drain pipe (for three drains). The plumber then slipped out the back, leaving me to solve my own problem. I took a trip to the ACE and the associate at this ACE spent over an hour helping me solve this plumbing problem, with the ACE associate placing more than a dozen plumbing parts on the floor in the proper order... I went home and by the end of the day it was working. On another occasion, I went to this ACE thinking I would buy some WD-40 to loosen rusted screws in order to remove a broken screen door. The ACE associate showed me the WD-40 but then suggested an alternate product "PB Blaster" which I purchased on their recommendation. I returned home and applied the PB Blaster to the rusted screws on the screen door. Several screws were rusted on tight and resisted my efforts to loosen them. The instruction for the PB Blaster advises waiting a few minutes for the Blaster to soak in, so it seemed like a good time to take a lunch break. I returned from lunch to find the rusted screws popped out, and the screen door on the ground. Wow, just wow. So, if there is such a thing as a home repair magician, these guys are it! Highly recommended.
