Any service you get done here seems like an inconvenience to the employees. I'm sorry for making you do your job. Regardless of the nature of your own interaction they are rude from the get go. I've worked with many different employees so it's not a one person issue but an establishment issue that should be serious addressed. considering it's one of the only places for glasses in this area it sucks to pay so much for such shitty attitudes. The worst part is the remote Doctors and technicians are better at providing service and customer service than those available on site. Not impressed, do better. read more

This visionworks is fantastic my glasses were perfect as were my sunglasses. I had to chuckle when I heard some people grumbling about others going ahead of them but I (having gone here before) let them know that the people going ahead were probably for the online dr not the in store dr (online is a little faster nothing against the in store dr though he's super nice) the staff is fantastic and called me a week later for my glasses 100/10 would come again read more

Went for an appointment in November of 2022 to get a new pair of glasses. It's now April 2023 and I still did not receive them. I've called multiple times asking about what was going on. I was told "Did someone come in and pick them up" "Did you receive it by mail." "It looks like they have been delivered " "I'll have my manager call you" (Never called) But Not once did I get a call about my glasses being in, or if they were being sent by mail. And the Sketchy part was when I went to go pick out my glasses and give my card information for them to be purchased.. their machines went down and they had to write the card information down in a piece of paper. I went here because my last appointment was at a Visionworks in another town so I figured it would be simple for them to access my records, and it was. First appointment and exam went off without a hitch, I picked out frames and they ordered me some sample contacts. They called when the samples came in and I set up an appointment to pick them up and have them checked out. Appt was for 9am, first of the day. When I arrived 15 minutes early as requested the front door was still locked, they don't open until 9. There were already 2 other people waiting outside with 9 am appointments. There were 4 of us by the time they opened the doors, even though there were 2 employees who had noticed us all standing outside for the past 15 minutes! Finally got in, got my samples checked out and was told they were a little off and so they ordered more samples. Went back a week later to pick those up and was told to call when I was ready to order my contacts/glasses. Called a week later to say go ahead and am told they have to take measurements for the glasses before they can order them. They could have taken those measurements at any of the 3 previous visits! Now I have to wait even longer and make another 45 minute (each way) drive just for this! If you have another option, take it! This location is very unorganized and completely uninterested in making the process simple for their clients. UPDATE: Manager did call me and was mostly full of "we're not supposed to, we don't usually, I'm sorry." She did offer to ship my contacts and glasses at no charge after I go back in to pay and have the measurements taken, which will save me a trip. Added a star but will definitely take care of future eye care elsewhere. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Visionworks in Potsdam for years. My last appointment there was absolutely ridiculous. Booked appointment. Showed up. Was called in right at the time of the appointment. Great! Then the staff member who was prepping me said, "You are all set for your remote appointment." So I said, "But I am here. Physically here. I didn't schedule a remote appointment." She said, "Oh we scheduled you with our remote doctor." But WHY? They overbook and then force people to go through a remote eye test? It doesn't make any sense. I politely declined the remote doc. She said, "Okay you're free to go." I will not ever be going back there. It felt a bit infuriating because I have seen the doctor there for years, and there was no notice given and they did not try to resolve the issue for me in house. The eye doctor they had was great. He's gone now. The staff seem jumpy and nervous, and they are perfectly willing to put your prescription in any frames you pick, without measuring your face to see if the frames are actually the right size. Delivery is always later than promised. They started getting my name wrong several years ago, and can't / won't correct it. I had to threaten legal action to get them to quit sending me flyers with my name wrong on them. There's a much better optometrist down the street, Dr. Sullivan. read more

The people here are friendly, but in several years (appointments for my kids and myself) I have never had less than a 90 minute wait. It's currently 6:05 and the 4:40 appointment just went in. I'm sure the excuse will be made "it's because of Covid", but it's not. It's because they overbook and take their sweet time. Did not let us know they only offered telehealth on the weekends when I made the appointment for my daughter who has never had an eye exam before. After waiting over an hour past our appointment time, was told by the telehealth doc that she had to refer us elsewhere because as a first time appointment there are certain exams that can only be done in person. It was that time of year again so I finally made it in to get my glasses. What I liked about this location: They had lots of cute glasses- it was hard to make a decision The staff is friendly- everyone said hello and no one was dry It's a big space so you feel comfortable moving about while looking for glasses The sale they had was decent- BOGO half off They also accept a good amount of insurance- if you don't have insurance catch the sale and also check out Retail Me Not for coupons What I didn't like: No one came over to offer to help when picking out the glasses. Most places I've been to, they always ask to see and help give some direction in the search No one contacted me when my glasses were ready- I had to call and follow up They seem to not know where my glasses are more than usual lol. I received a phone call to come in and make a payment and when I arrived no one could find my glasses. Resulted in me having to make an extra trip out there. Would I go back? Was there for 45 minutes without being seen. While friends and family of the staff were seen right away. No sanitization process between customs, I saw 6 people ( all of whom arrived after me but were seen first) sit in the same chair without it being sanitized. I'm very disappointed in the staff. I will be finding a new eye doctor. read more

There is a constant wait for appointments. This is the third appt. we've gone today where we waited for 45 minutes. Now, if we were at the end of the day I could understand, 2 patients here took 2 extra minutes, one here took 5 - adding up... But we were the FIRST appointment of the day and the doctor didn't even show up until after 940! I overheard the people at the desk talking and one asked "did anyone remember to tell him he has 9 am appointments?" The appointments have been booked for over a week, so it's not like it was a last minute addition. Now if you are only open 4 days a week you would think maybe you could be on time those 4 days? Patients miss work often times to come to appointments. Additionally if I showed up 45 minutes late for my appointment you would tell me too bad and I'd have to reschedule! Funny we have to respect doctors time, but doctors don't have to respect ours! The girls at the front were however helpful and pleasant. read more

I understand that we are in the midst of a major health emergency, but I can tell you that this is the worst place I've ever seen from a customer service standpoint. I have been on hold with their corporate customer service for 4 hours. This is after leaving a voice mail to return my call 2 days ago. I went back to the email that I recieved and realized the local store may actually be open. I was happy that it was in fact open to be told my glasses that I purchased 3/13 are being mailed to me with no tracking? They just happened to have been picked up for delivery today? The name changed but their customer service is as bad as when it was empire vision. Guess it's worth the hour trip from here to a business that takes my insurance. I hope that when ever my glasses find their way to me are ok, I can't imagine actually being helped with that issue to. read more

Very professional place. I've never had a problem that they couldn't solve. One of my lenses developed a crack and they took care of it right away. Waiting for my eye exam wasn't that long (same with the pre-exam). There is a lot of choice for frames and plenty of help if you need it. I even get told of things to look for and to immediately call if I have one of them worsen. Highly recommended! read more
