Lori and Ginger in the office, helped me with the paperwork , made me feel comfortable and answered any questions I had. Once I got in the chair, both assistants whose names were Ashley took great care of me and reduced my stress level and prepared me for the extraction. Dr. Akin is very personable, kind, and was gentle giving me the shot to numb the area around my tooth. Once the procedure started Dr. Akin made sure I was not in any pain during the extraction. Dr. Akin is very experienced and has the "wisdom" and skill to make sure my extraction was successful. I highly recommend Dr. Akin as your oral surgeon of choice!!

To make matters more complicated for me, I am flying out on vacation as soon as I get home. Needless to say, I was concerned about my vacation plans if something major was wrong. I called the office this morning and explained the situation. Even though I am not a patient of the office, they agreed to see me this afternoon. When I showed up, the office was busy, so I really appreciated that they squeezed me in. The front office staff was friendly and helpful. They called my dental insurance company. Even though they are not participating in my plan, they researched how much my plan would pay for the check up and any x-rays. This was really going out of their way, instead of simply billing me and letting me figure out the insurance. The dental assistant was pleasant, talked with me about why I was there, and took an x-ray before getting the dentist. The dentist was pleasant, professional and helpful. She examined the tooth, and gave me the good news and bad news. I'll need a crown, but the tooth and filling are solid and should get me through my vacation with no trouble. She smoothed out the sharp edge, smoothed it some more when it was still a little sharp, and I was back to work. By the way, the office is beautiful and modern. If I didn't live six hours away, I would be back to have the crown done and would make them my regular dentist. Thank you to the dentist and the staff.

Providing a standard abdominal exam with every well child exam, he never seemed to pick up a tumor the size of an orange on his adrenal gland on top of the kidney of a very skinny boy. When his mom noted his loss of weight and pallor color and slight limp, she brought him back to the almighty Dr. Healey, pediatrician, psychiatrist, cardiologist, urologist, orthopedist-- you name it, he did it. After a months time he concluded that my grandson had juvenile arthritis because of the limp, after taking a hip x-ray showing an irregularity, no CT scan, no MRI. He then sent him to an orthopedic doctor in Syracuse who diagnosed the huge tumor on his adrenal gland as Neuroblastoma Stage IV high risk with metastasized tumors in his hip, pelvis, and lymph nodes. The metastasized tumor in his hip gsdvtitslly broken his hip! His own patient for six years and he never picked this up??? They said in Syracuse that he'd had this cancer for at least 2 1/2 years!
