Our experience there was so positive and the attention that we received was so good that we decided to have our 2nd baby there as well. We live in Ottawa but were happy to make the drive out there in order to receive the good service that your hospital provided for us. We really wanted to have the same doctors and nurses attend us for the 2nd.

Dr Smith was super patient with me as I was reluctant at first to relax my muscles enough to let him reposition my arm. On the third try- pop! Nurse Elise was also super kind and professional. The X Ray technician was great too (didn't catch her name!). And last but definitely not least, Susan at reception was so kind and helpful with the information she provided. If you ever dislocate your shoulder... this is the spot to go to! haha :) Thanks guys!

My foot was in dire pain and I didn't have complete trust in the quebec healthcare/hospital system…read moreso My husband drove us to Ontario to this Hospital in Hawkesbury. This hospital is Amazingly organized and well maintained. They actually care about each and every patient they see. Shoutout to Dr Laviolette he really knew what he was doing and prescribed me the best antidote for my sprained foot. The service is quite fast and wonderful and totally happy with The Ontario healthcare system. I was worried they would refuse me as I am a quebec resident but to my surprise they greeted me with happiness and kindness Due to covid, they didn't allow me to be with any company so it was lonely in there.. but it was super well managed and they clear you in categories.. I was in the green zone so I was pretty much separated from the really sick patients and that made me super at ease. Definitely recommend this hospital. Thank you for being there for me when I needed care I am super grateful and happy :)

BUT for a non-specific visit to the ER, I would head for Kemptville. It's an excellent little community hospital, easy to get to, from the southern reaches of Ottawa, and they have competent and efficient staff, day and night. I've been there on my own behalf, and we took my mother-in-law there twice while she was living with us. On all three occasions, there was almost no waiting, and the triage and examination were professional and courteous. There's a reason that a LOT of people in the southwestern end of Ottawa choose Kemptville hospital when they can get there on their own. Only part of that reason is the normal lack of crowding and fast service. When it's an emergency, though, you let the ambulance dispatch and crew decide where to go. That's what professionals are for. If I was 'in extremis' and they said they wanted to take me to Kemptville hospital, I wouldn't object. I think the person who gave Kemptvill District Hospital a one-star review must have been having a bad-hair day.

I do have a basis of comparison at other hospitals and this was definitely the best. In addition, no one there was anywhere close to friendly. It was one of those instances where it appeared. Everybody hated their jobs. I had to use the bathroom to provide a urine specimen. I used the last few squares of toilet paper, and there was no new roles to be found. The toilet would not flush. After I soaked up my hands, I turned the water on to find it came out less than a trickle, basically running down the porcelain of the sink. I was so disgusted. The visit itself was $150, the specimen was $25. I most definitely do not recommend this facility.
