I was brought in by ambulance, they had them put me in a wheel chair and leave , I sat for hours in pain, I had broken foot and very bad hematoma on top my hand and wrist all cut up bruised chest , I trip in hole in a parking lot, after few hours waiting in pain , they took me for X-rays then back to wait for treatment , they never looked at my cuts or clean them they wrapped me up and said go home , then I get home was told see my primary well I had to see her helper with not much help from her either , no boot nothing let's just say was a big disappointment and a $hitshow it's week 2 and still not boot, lucky my husband found my old one and we changed from a wrap to a boot , some doctors today don't give a crap anymore as long they get big bucks who cares read more

The 5 stars are for the entire staff on all shifts on the 3rd floor. The Rn's were all super fine and fantastic in all they did. My 1 problem is with a conversation I had with one of the surgeon's I was at the hospital for the 3rd time in a 6 week peroid all for small intestine blockage. He basically told me if it happen again go to a bigger hospital because cph would never operate I needed to go somewhere that had hotshot surgeons not any where near being professional in my book so this guy gets a big far zero read more

Everyone smiles here but no one works. The nurse and staff were on a permanent break. Seriously no kidding --place is great if your not sick. After three days what I observed was the staff huddles together all day and just chat it up. and lThe bathroom next to the bed was shared by all and it wreaked of urine. Which is where they emptied out the bags and cups. The room had no door and it was so loud that the give all their patients sleeping pills to knock them out. No security at the door anyone can walk in go to any floor find a room and just hang out. The most bizarre hospital I've ever seen. read more

The Potsdam-Canton Hospital is incredibly irresponsible and unprofessional. Unfortunately, it is the only hospital within the area for college students. If there were other hospitals around I would 100% go to them rather than Potsdam-Canton. I waited 3 hours for a blood test, which made me miss class. I checked in at the front desk for a blood test. Then patients who had checked in and arrived after me got their tests done before I did. After everybody else had taken their tests, they told me they didn't have my paperwork. They violated HIPPA regulations and "accidentally" billed me for an already paid blood test. Then they constantly harassed me via phone and mail, telling me they conducted an "internal investigation" and that it was my fault for not bringing in my paperwork, which I clearly had. Do not go here! They are not helpful over the phone, and will constantly transfer you. If I could I give 0 stars, I absolutely would. read more

This hospital is a joke all they do is waist your life waiting for nothing 95% of the time they just send you home with some random issues they don't actually find and treat the problem they just put a bandaid on it and send you home but only after they waist 12+ of your life while the doctors and nurses sit around talking and laughing. This hospital is bad. They take very long to admit a patient. Then on top of that they have the garbage cans full. They also were trying to get rid of us from the hospital as quick as possible even though my friend was still sick and throwing up and they gave her medication and she threw it up as well and somehow they told us she can leave even though she was still the same as when we first walked into the hospital. When we were trying to find a ride back to campus everyone kept dubbing us and we decided to go to the waiting room to try and find a ride back to campus we had left our friend in the room to rest while we get a ride because she was sedated and she was knocked out. The nurses decided to wake her up and walk her out of the room while they had like 3 other rooms that were empty and made her walk out when she was sedated and we were still trying to find a ride. I Highly recommend to NOTTTT go to CANTON-POTSDAM Hospital. read more

I went to the ER with severe abdominal pain. The wait time was 15 minutes, they updated my medical file, started an IV, approximately 35 minutes. I was scheduled for a CAT scan, which had taken 20 minutes. The MD was professional, kind and gave me a sample to last me until the next day to go to the pharmacist. The nurses were professional, well groomed and so kind, gave me discharge instructions that I understood. I would highly recommend this hospital, we have so many wonderful doctors. Got decent treatment here several times. At least two of those times they billed my insurance incorrectly and it eventually hit my credit. Thats why they get 3 stars and they really deserve only one star for their billing department. But the ER is always quite nice. read more

What kind of a hospital is this??? My niece has COVID! They tested her while she was in the ER at Potsdam Hospital.....THEY NEVER TESTED THE FAMILY OR HEALTH CARE AIDES THAT WERE PRESENT WITH HER AT THE TIME! In addition, she was checked in the ER about 5 am on Tuesday am (11/10)...they made her healthcare aids and her mother quarantine in her ER room until an ambulance arrived--which was about 12 Noon!!!! YET, THEY NEVER TESTED THE HEALTHCARE AIDS OR THE MOTHER!!! Why? St. Lawrence County is in a state of emergency with COVID...yet, this hospital failed again....Please if you have any serious issues, I beg you to by-pass this hospital...go directly to a Trauma One Center....What is wrong with Canton-Potsdam Hospital??? It has NEVER GOTTEN BETTER!!! It appears no one cares....I feel sorry for the community because this is all some of them have and they don't know HOW BAD THIS PLACE CAN BE! read more

Ever since Saint Lawrence Healthcare systems took over this place the quality of care, what little decent care they used to have went straight down the toilet, just as bad as MMH now, and if you have Cancer Definitely go elsewhere(Syracuse or Burlington), because you will be made to feel like your only there for them to just collect insurance money and denied help when you really need it. This hospital is one of the really, really bad ones. They tried to give me fentanyl immediately for a relatively minor injury (shoulder dislocation). I said no twice - they re-offered - and then they switched to trying to give me morphine. They are concerned with driving your bill up with expensive medications, not with helping you out. I refused all medication, stayed less than two hours, underwent only one physical procedure (they moved a dislocated arm back into place, which took ten minutes and no equipment) - then a year later, they sent me a bill for more than $2,000. They had retroactively upcoded my visit from a level 3 (moderate) to a level 4 (severe), and sent me a disorganized mess of different invoices. I spent ages on the phone with their billing department, who were useless, underinformed, and unhelpful. I knew they were going to try to overcharge, and had tried to go to an urgent care center first - the urgent care center said they didn't do dislocations, and sent me to this disastrous dump. Don't trust Canton-Potsdam Hospital. They are cardinally irresponsible, deeply unprofessional, disorganized beyond belief, and astonishingly greedy. read more

I was rushed in due to some major sharp pains in my lower right abdomen. All the nurses were extremely nice. While waiting for the main doctor to come, I had at least 4 nurses check in on me. Being diagnosed with acute appendicitis, the doctor actually bumped the guy that was scheduled to have surgery before me. Coming out from surgery, the nurses were superbly nice and did all they could to assist me whenever I called. And to my surprise, the food was really good. read more

If you are a student at either Clarkson University or SUNY Potsdam this is not one of the places you want to end your night. When I was a student at Clarkson University I had the misfortune to visit the Emergency Room on 3 occasions. With two colleges in a small the town the staff is used to stupid students and provide great care. I dislocated my shoulder twice and tore a muscle. All three times they took me in quickly, fixed me up and sent me on my way. read more

We had our baby here, and it was a wonderful experience. The nurses were attentive, the room was very private, and the service (food, cleaning, etc) was very convenient. I would give it 5 stars, but the "fold-out bed" they had for partners was broken, so I had to drive home to sleep (which was only a few blocks away, so it wasn't a big deal). read more
