We purchased Empire Today's most expensive carpeting and most expensive padding. Within a year, the carpet started to buckle. Empire offered to trim and re-stretch the carpet for a fee. We felt we had no choice so we paid for the work. Within another two years, the buckling came back even worse than the first time. Again, we paid for them to trim and re-stretch the carpet. It has now happened for a third time (see photos). This time, Empire said "it was out of warranty" and they wouldn't provide the re-stretching service even if we paid for it again! We couldn't be more disappointed in this company for both their shoddy quality product and dismissive customer service.

Terrible quality!!! Empire sold junk carpet that the installer couldn't even install. Their attempt to make it right was a 10% discount and an apology. Do better Empire. This is a terrible company with massive quality control issues. There are plenty of carpet places....I implore you to go somewhere else!

The wood that is showing, the installer felt was appropriate to leave. This is what Empire considers acceptable workmanship.

Do not use Empire. They are the worst. I was excited to remodel a room. I called Empire and they sent an associate to assess the room. It's a sunken living room. I wanted the entire room, including the step, to have the carpet removed and flooring installed. The associate measured the room, the step, took pictures and gave me a quote on the spot. I gladly accepted and gave them a down payment. I asked if I could use a bank check for the install date. I was told yes. We scheduled for my install. The day of, the crew which was a flooring specialist with his wife and kid showed up late. They wouldn't start the work as they had never seen a bank check before and couldn't accept it. I called the associate who conveniently didn't pick up or ever call back. The couple also didn't speak good English which isn't an issue until you have to be able to effectively communicate what the issue is with the money, what I need or what you need. They finally spoke to someone and started 1.5 hours later after being 1 hour late. They went to work and were blasting their radio. I asked if they could turn it down as it was loud and my dog was getting anxious. They gave me an attitude over it. They finished and the flooring specialist left the step down stair unfinished and without molding. I told him it looked like absolute shit. He said he didn't have any more product and if we wanted we could wait two weeks for him to come back as he is busy until then. We did this via a phone translator which made the dialogue even more frustrating. He also said sales associates don't know his job and he actually cannot install flooring on a step. He suggested I just paint the step myself as he doesn't even think he can fix it. I told him i specifically met with an associate who measured it out and made sure to send the specs to the install team. That associate is the one conveniently ghosting me. It's a very bad after first date conversation between us. Mister I know Floors raised his voice at my wife when she asked who cleans up all the debris and dust they left. At that point I asked him to leave. He actually refused and began to take pictures of his work. I told the crew or family to leave my home. They did. I called Empire and they said they couldn't do anything about it as the flooring dude left. If I would have called when he was there, they would have spoke to him and made him fix the work. They also advised me that they always have more product than necessary so that they don't have these mistakes. They were very confused and seemed to be questioning the legitimacy of my issue. I wound up fixing the floors molding myself. When I called for reimbursement for the work I did, they told me that since I altered the work that they aren't responsible. I sent them the contract that shows the price I paid for labor, product and the promise of what they were going to do - which they didn't fulfill. They denied the legitimacy of their own contract. After fighting with corporate for two months, they decided to compensate me. Are you ready? Keep in mind, I had to fix the step myself. They would not offer any compensation for the work I did or product I bought. Nashota Rainey-Webb, Customer Service Associate, states that there was nothing wrong with the install after seeing the finished product I fixed. In fact, I sent them before and after pictures and they claimed my work was done by the installer and refused to acknowledge that he left the wood showing the way he did. However, they graciously offered me $100 because we had a contract that requested the flooring be installed diagonally but the installer didn't have enough product so it has to be done vertically. The next week, Empire then followed up offering me a discount off the next flooring install I choose for my home. Screw this noise. Go fix yourself, Empire. You are bad business.

I learned later, with other craftsmen, that with correct tools and consideration of my desired outcome, it was not necessary to butcher my floors on their edges. This flooring company tore my floor up. I did try to go cheap so I went with them. I did not know that when we negotiated price, I negotiated away the sealant ti protect floors and allowance to butcher my floors. I was told back/forth 2/3 coats on floor. With/without sealant? Angel said 2 coats sealant. Soon dirt is well in the grains of wood. I know because I can see where a rectifying area was made with the sealant compared to everything that sticks with floor. I have question is it the @Bona #Bona product. My first rodeo. Fixing will cost me an entire 675 sq new floor. It aches my heart. I don't have that kind of money and I wanted a nice outcome. If I had been informed more, I would have work harder to have paid more instead to spend so much more now fix in a few years after I save to do it. Why are workers not honest?!!!! Please inform the consumer the cost of cutting price. I have regrets that will cost me now to redo and seal my floors, and more, if I want to resume my useable sq ftg because you ate it away to close the gaps you butchered. Please do not do this to another customer again. Just be honest even if you don't get the job. I am so hurt.

I'm a very detail oriented and particular person, especially with renovation work, and I couldn't be happier with Danny's work product. Danny is one of the rare service providers who returns calls promptly, answers texts almost immediately, and complies with agreed upon timelines, at a fair price to boot. He also gave us competent advice about our renovation process (e.g., sequencing of floor installation as compared to other tasks). He is now in the process of refinishing and staining the floors in our new historic home. I'm very pleased with how the project is progressing. Danny has again been communicative, reliable and professional. His job lead Willie has also been fantastic and done an incredible job of reviving the home's original 120 year old floors. I'm not sure where the negative reviews are coming from. I've had nothing but positive experiences with Danny. For the record, this is not a fake review. They prepared a CAD for the kitchen cabinetry and an attractive center island that opened the kitchen into the dining room and sitting area. Nearly a year later, my wife and I marvel at the beauty of the redesign and quality of construction. The demolition and installations went smoothly and timely. A special shout-out to Faseeha Ahmad, the interior designer, who repeatedly exhibited her talent at matching color, style, and placement--even joining us to select a couch, area rug, and other complementary touches that brought adjoining rooms into harmony with the remodeled kitchen. Faseeha was professional, friendly, and mindful to work within our budget, often suggesting ways to achieve the same results at a lower cost. We heartily recommend the entire team at Best Carpets. I called many months ago and spoke with the owner (Mike) to replace damaged laminate flooring in a business in my commercial building. The owner, Mike, had came and measured and said it would be done soon. Several weeks had went by with no calls or updates. I was wondering why no one reached out to give me a status update, so I called the owner. When I called him, he said he would call me back in a few minutes but never did. I was starting to get "fed up" and reached out again, and he started ignoring my calls. When I became totally fed up and left a voicemail of my displeasure, he then put me on automatic - voicemail. I was a loyal and dependable customer to them for years without any issues. I talked to my friend who referred me to Best Carpets and Interiors and I found out that the company's business practices are not what they used to be. Basically, if you are not a "big job" like a large scale renovation, you are but on the "back burner". I was really "stunned" because the job I needed done was an easy one or two day job. If you've worked with a lot of folks in the trades, this is very much the exception to the rule, and as such I was pleasantly surprised. Lou quickly got back to me with a very reasonable quote, and once we agreed on the details and a date, we were off and running. We had some damage and discoloration on our white oak floors, and we wanted to sand and refinish them. Lou was helpful as we got together the paperwork my building required to get it done. On the agreed upon day, his guys showed up on time, and while they weren't the excellent communicators that he is (their English wasn't great), they were conscientious and obviously knew what they were doing. Lou said the work would take 1-2 days, and they were done in just a day. We had a minor hiccup after the fact, but Lou immediately investigated the issue, and handled it well. I'll definitely be going straight to Buono's next time I need any flooring work done.
