We felt that his communications to us, were, "bar raising" compared to anything else we have experienced during 29 years of home ownership and associated home improvements. I recommend you go elsewhere. I have had the worst experience ever with Empire. They installed flooring but damaged my wall and also replaced my baseboard in the room with shorter strips than the original. Once they installed the baseboard they are filthy ( didn't even bother to clean them up or attempt to make them better). When I asked them to return my originals baseboard ( next morning) I was told they'd call me back. That was Wednesday last week. They called me back today (Wednesday) a week later to let me know that the original baseboards were damaged and couldn't be returned but if I wanted to purchase new ones they'd install them but I'd need to pay for labor. Are you kidding me??? Even the contractor they sent to do the installation said it looked better before and he'd come back on Thursday to fix and clean it up. I still haven't heard from the guy. Liars! They did the damage and now want to act like they're doing me a favor. I advice to anyone is to find any other business but Empire for flooring. Empire's quality of work is not up to par and their customer service stinks as well. They showed no empathy for the situation. I've been getting a run around for over a week. My floors were done a few years ago. The installers were friendly and completed 2 areas of my house , the family and living room. Barely a year after, an area in the middle of the living room 2 panels where they meet were coming up. After weeks of trying to contact customer service I was told to repair it was not covered even though there was a warranty. They said it was due to water damage. However, this room was on the first floor with no plumbing nearby. Only thing that was used on these floors was swifter wet mop, which I was told by the installers that it would be ok to use. This was not water damage. I sent these pictures and they never responded. I tried emailing a few times. No one ever returned my calls. I saw a recent advertisement lately which reminded me of their terrible service. Other areas are also coming up. And no, there was no water damage. read more

ADVICE: Know your product, pricing and square feet BEFORE you contact Empire. They are NOT the company to start your comparison/research because they WILL hard sell you on the higher-price product and pressure to close out a contract the day of the appointment, REQUIRING 10% deposit. Reason for cancellation of 10k+ order : product, pricing and quality of service concerns. The Bad: 1. No showroom so the sales rep comes to you. VERY hard sell on getting you to sign a deal - stating you can cancel within 3 days but..read #4 & #6 below. 2. When purchasing flooring that you have to live with daily, you should be able to wisely make a decision by seeing your flooring choice at different times of the day or in more than one room (if ordering for multiple rooms). Then you know you're making the right choice! Why? You will not get a sample since the sales reps only have their sample books to show you. Other flooring companies provide samples as a service to help you make the best decision. 3. The contract is not itemized by square footage or price - only total price. RED FLAG! If they stand by their best price, why not provide itemized pricing? Other major flooring companies do. 4. They make it HARD to cancel and get your deposit back since you have to send notice of cancellation by mail or deliver a signed/dated copy OR by telegram to their ILLINOIS Legal Department address WITHIN 3 days. *** Make sure you have proof of delivery. The first thing they will say is that you're past the date and that they don't take cancellations via phone call. *** The call center manager was speechless when I said we have proof of delivery and was within the 3 day requirement - and I was just calling to confirm getting my deposit back. He had to go search for the tracking number when the mail was delivered a few days ago. I just wanted to confirm cancellation and NOT have yet another long conversation about WHY I was canceling. 5. PLUS there is NO confirmation that they received your cancellation notice. The call center manager just says he'll process it. So what happens if you don't get your deposit back? Go through the whole process of calling again? 6. They charge the deposit immediately via credit card but tell you it will take 10 BUSINESS DAYS for them to RETURN YOUR DEPOSIT money (via credit card). During these days of electronic delivery, it should not take that long to return my $1,000+ deposit. 7. They will try to change your mind (another hard sell) and make you feel bad when canceling. *** I made it clear that I was still trying to compare and decide. *** Samples are "I spent all that time for your appointment...." "I've never had this reason to cancel from anyone..." "Well, if you won't let me help you..." "Since you didn't give me a chance to make this better...." 8. Another red flag: "Let me know if you get quoted a lower price and I'll meet it." WHY NOT just offer the best price and make your customer feel even more confident about the company when it IS the better deal against other quotes/companies??? The Good: 1. My parents had scheduled them to install tile in two bathrooms and carpet in two rooms and the hallway. The tile installer showed up with two box's of tile. Not even enough to do one bathroom. When he checked with the shop they didn't have any more. The said they would let us know what they were going to do. 8-9 calls later with no answers and only promises of of call backs. We never got a callback from anyone only a vague text message that they had to get more tile shipped up from LA. Needless to say we canceled the job. Still never a call back. My first experience in Phoenix (few months ago) involved the installers showing up two days late and then running out of carpet mid-job. This delayed my home closing by several days. ​Against my better judgment, I tried them again after my consultant, Tracy, assured me that those issues wouldn't repeat and "guaranteed" a December 24th install date so my new home home would be ready for a family Christmas party. On the morning of the install, they called to say they once again ran out of carpet. My install is now pushed to January. Hired empire to add laminate flooring to my property. The sales rep was super nice, easy to work with and made that process enjoyable. The only problems were with the installers. They removed my hallway vent and failed to notch the based boards they installed, thus making us unable to put the vent grate back on. So they just left it on the floor. I just had a shoulder replacement reversal and only have one hand to type with and I'm pissed. YOU GOT ME ONCE BUT NEVER AGAIN! I thought this was a good idea. well, on 03/24/25 my mother fell while transitioning from her bedroom into the bathing area. the fire department was called and mother put upright. we couldn't figure out the reason for the fall. we figured it out 03/26/25....stripping from the flooring installation had started to separate. this not only in that area but in the living room area too. I called empire and shared my dissatisfaction, the need for the problem to be resolved immediately due to my mother age and mobility, the only usable restroom for my mother, my upcoming surgery on 3/27/25. I was told that the earliest would be on Friday 3/28/25 8am-12pm. I requested them to call my mother if there were any questions, due to my surgery on 3/27/25, the rep. repeated the information back to me, taped down the strip (videotaped) due to this bathroom being the only one my mother can use and that was that.! oh! no! on 3/27/25 stan text me, i'm getting ready for surgery at 10am and speaking with my surgical team before getting wheeled in. he needs to know what kind of stripping was used on the flooring. wouldn't that be in the invoice? why wasn't my mother called as requested and notated by the rep? I had taken pictures; i sent those and told him the problem also persist in the living room. blood pressure is so high now because of this non-needed call, I had to wait another 45 minutes until surgery. wait for it........ I find out they didn't even arrive within the time window. they arrived at 2:30pm. they put down the stripping, moved two of my totes which were up against the wall for a reason without asking. my mother was told that metal stripping would be the solution, but empire doesn't provide this to them. so now i have two totes that are in the walkway from front hallway to living room. i guess, I'm supposed to find some to lift those and put them back where they belong. one tote is right in front of my puppies' cage and bowls, so until I get someone to move the totes, I have to move my dog's items. I explained this all to the rep. who called, she said she would escalate the issue. 4/1/25 I received a called from Empire in connection with my Yelp review. We spoke; I told him that the totes had already been removed. I told him that my landscaper had moved them for me. I gave him $40. I've never been a cheap person, just a person who needs to keep things moving. He asked for a receipt for the transaction before reimbursement. Hey! Who gets a receipt for a quick fix? I know the guys who put in the flooring didn't give me a receipt for the extra money I gave them. Were they supposed to for my records? The end result is that Empire is petty, and I allowed them to not even worry about the $40 reimbursement due to their moving items without consent. This would have been not worth my time. DO NOT BUY FROM EMPIRE TODAY! Empire Today does NOT stand behind their products! They DO NOT care about their customers! We had engineered hard wood flooring installed in April in our bedroom and office. The floors make a squeaking and creaking sound. It's horrible and not what floors should do. We gave the floors time to see if they would acclimate, but it did not get any better. I called and the customer service lady was nice and said floors expand and contract give it until October and call back if you still have the same issue. I called back in October ( still had the same noisy issue) and they sent out the man that installed them to inspect the flooring. He was here for over an hour and wrote a detailed report but he could not find anything wrong. I did not hear anything from Empire so I called and the customer service man said he was reading the report but did not understand what he was trying to say and that he would need to call me back... no call back so I called a few days later and I'm informed that the installation manager will need to now come and inspect. I set an appointment and he shows up with another guy. The other guy pulls a section of kick board in the bedroom and is inspecting the flooring under the flooring. I'm thinking go for it, there's no water damage do your thing. We have nothing to hide... this flooring is not right, Once they are done, I'm walking them to the door and the one guy starts talking to me and the inspection manager is walking around my dining room and looking around. I turn to him and say I don't know what you are looking for but this isn't the area in question and these floors (that are hardwood floors ) don't squeak or creak and they are 30 years old! What gives this guy the right to go roaming in my home? On his way out, the installation manager hands me his card and tells me to call him in 4 to 6 weeks and he will let me know what the manufacturer says. Wait, so you want me to call you??? What kind of customer service is this? Fast forward to last week and I call to check on status. I get a VM so I leave a message. I call again on Monday but this time I call his cell phone and I leave another message. I did receive a text back from him a few days later saying that he would be getting in touch with me soon. Well, I get a call today from a different man that would only give me his first name because he is the only person there with that name and I don't need a last name. He begins telling me that the floating floors will creak and crack in weather under 60 degrees or over 80 degrees and the installation manager took the temp of the floor when he was there in November and it was 60.4 degrees. Really?? For one thing, I don't keep me house under 60 degrees in the winter and I sure as hell don't keep me home at 80 degrees plus in the summer. I asked him if he would like to see me gas and electric bill? Are you telling me that you are not going to stand behind your product? We are not at fault and his follow up was, oh you can get a third party to do an inspection and send it to us but there's no guarantee. And of course it's at my expense. He went on to say, we are also willing to give you a discount on new flooring. I asked what is the discount because I'm not living with these floors and his reply was I'm not sure I don't have that in front of me. Ok, so are you picking up the labor and that was a big NO! I told him ... I guarantee, you would not accept theses floors in your own home and what you are suggesting is not an option. You need to stand behind your product.... HOWEVER, THEY ARE NOT!! The term "customer is always right" is lost with this company. I recently had my kitchen floor replaced. Not only was the installation poor, the installer damaged the ice maker waterline in the process. The leak was not immediately noticeable. When i called them to report the problem, i was told I fabricated the story to get money from them. The service manager Amy even called me but she was rude and argumentative and told me that my payment to the handyman was not true to reimburse me $160 for the repair and said $20 should be sufficient for the repair, Poor installation, bad customer service. If you want the quickest, shittiest work done to your home, empire is your go to. Flooring is lifting, quarter trims coming off. I get they use contractors to do the actual work, which seems like they hire just anyone. You would think paying thousands of dollars for new flooring that it would last more than a few years. DO NOT USE EMPIRE FLOORING SACRAMENTO!!! Wow! That is all I can say. I had my entire flooring done by the Empire in Sacramento about two years ago, so this is not my first review. The flooring in my hallway had issues from the initial install (overlapping & large noticeable gapping). Empire sent someone out to redo the hallway floor twice only for the same issues to continue. The first guy that came out to redo my floors was supposed to replace the entire hallway into the master bedroom, he chose to make himself a shortcut and only do the portion he wanted in the hallway. Of course, I still have issues running into the bedroom where the flooring flows, now Empire wants to charge me $ 250.00 for that piece to be corrected because at this point that portion (about 3 feet X 4 feet) of the floor is out of the 1-year warranty. Seriously! Since then, I've had three appointments for a redo of my hallway only for all the appointments to be cancelled. But the kicker is I DO NOT GET ANY NOTIFICATION OF IT BEING CANELLED. Nobody shows up for my appointments, I'm the one who calls to ask what's going to happen for the day! I call Eli from Sacramento customer service only to be told that they did not get my product (the flooring for my redo) and my appointment needs to be rescheduled. Eli will ask me if anybody called me to notify me of the issue. Really, nobody calls to notify me of anything. Today was the third scheduled appointment for the redo on my flooring, of course it's 8:45 and nobody has called, and nobody is at my door. I called Eli, he says I'm scheduled today at 9 am for my floors to get replaced in my hallway and he will call the installer to make sure they check-in with me. The installer Art calls me to let me know that he can come out to do an assessment of my floors, wow there really is a lack of communication here. After calling Eli back, he lets me know that there is an issue, and he needs to talk to his manager, and he will get back to me. It's almost noon here in Lodi and I have not heard back from Eli or anybody from Empire. This is just an ongoing issue without any resolution. Calling the Empire in Sacramento is such a chore, having to push numbers to get a person live is ridiculous. I do not recommend Empire Flooring Sacramento, there is a lack of communication, and they obviously just don't care about the customers or the customers' home. Each time there was a mix up on coordination of the job and the install delay. The rep Daisy Wells miscalculated the footage do the installers didn't have enough so the project took longer. I told her I needed waterproof flooring. It wasn't and started buckling within a month. The installers told me she didn't know what she was doing but stupidly I trusted her. Her husband is a realtor and he keeps calling me to sell. I'm so frustrated! I was stupid to call Empire. I saw the adds and assumed they were above-board since they've been around for a long time... on top of everything, I'm still paying for this crappy looking floor. Salesperson came to my home, I showed him the type of carpet that was throughout my home and asked for as close to a match as possible. I only need one section of my home done where the carpet was worn. He showed me 3 samples and we picked the color that came closest. Remember the salesman is the expert for Empire. Once it was installed we noticed it did not match to nap of our house carpet. It changed color when we vacumed or walked on it. We tried to work with Empire but they would not work with us, they were rude on the phone and told us that is the way the carpet was made. They said the salesperson didn't make a mistake. We had 2 rooms that needed a new floor in our house. We chose Empire because being a contractor myself, I know you can't be in business as long as they have been without knowing what you're doing. I was somewhat concerned when I saw the 2 star review on Yelp, but understood that people typically are quick to leave bad reviews, and few leave outstanding ones when pleased...unfortunately. I also noticed that many of the poor reviews were in a different location than the company I hired. The entire experience was stellar from the in-home shopping experience to the actual installation. I told him that I was getting a home equity loan to do many projects in the house. I told him that I just wanted a quote and that I would have to discuss it with family. He called his boss to ask about a discount on telling my neighbors about them. He said his boss wanted to know when I was going was I going to talk to my family. I told him that we were done. Not only did the sales team get the order incorrect four or five times, but an installer showed up twice on two different days with the wrong color both times. I've wasted a month of my life on this. Management seemed indifferent to everything and didn't try for an effective resolution. Some of the WORST customer service I have ever dealt with!! I would never use this company again or recommend to anyone. I'm going back to write this review as haven't forgotten what a horrible experience I had with them. I had them come out in Dec to give me a quote for carpet in the master bedroom in December. The sales employee, Lilith, was very professional and informative, wasn't pushy. I wasn't happy about them not having any of the carpet choices I wanted, but decided to settle on one that would still work as I needed to get the carpet asap due to my bed being delivered shortly after. She was able to get me a "discounted price" for $900. After the sales appt it was all downhill from there.. The previous owner had a dog that urinated on the carpet, which was why I needed to replace it. I'm totally new to carpet anything so a friend explained I need to take the carpet up as the floor may need to be treated before laying new. I messaged Lilith who advised I need to call customer service to see if I could have them take up the carpet, so I could treat the floor, and install at a later date. The young man in customer service was very rude and clearly had no interest in helping me or answering questions. He kept walking on me where I had to ask him to stop talking over me and litsten to what I was asking for. He ended up placing a "ticket" or request for the installers to call me back to discuss options. I waited the 24 to 48 hrs and since no one called called them back. I was again told to give them more time to call me. At this point was about a week out from the carpet laying appt so I decided to take all the carpet up myself so I could treat the floor. Again, I called customer service back and the rep was NOT helpful, and clearly could of cared less. I asked for a supervisor and got a man who got an earfull as I was so upset I would of cancelled had I not needed this carpet asap. Come to find out the customer service is in another state as a call center, and have to send tickets to the office in the area you're in. A ticket had been sent originally, where it was Liliths responsibility to call me back and follow up and had been closed by her supervisor as "resolved". Clearly the ball was dropped, and no one ever followed up with me after calling several times and being told to "just wait for a return call". I asked for a reduction in my cost as I did part of the carpet layers job by taking up my own carpet. Lilith reached out, after all of the back n forth and advised I was getting a $40 credit. Yeah thanks :/ So the carpet layers came out, were friendly and did their job and left. I don't have any complaints there and am happy to just have the carpet and be done. Never ever would I suggest this company! They are big so the customer service is disconnected, and all the reps I spoke with act like they could care less about any issues you have. I have hardwood laminate installed in my home in October 2024. I noticed about a week ago a section that was slightly bubbled and looked like the groove that connected to the next plank was starting to lift. The salesperson of course promised the moon, don't worry if anything happens to the floor with out 5 year warranty it is covered. So here I am almost 6 months into this flooring and have a problem. I contacted the number on the warranty. They asked a series of questions, like was I aware of an accident something spilled, pets, etc. I told them no because I was truthful and not aware, I told them I the light hit it just right and that is why I saw it. They are trying to say it was the cleaning product I used so not covered by the original warranty which is for installation, materials, etc. The product I used is well known and says right on the container, safe for wood laminate. They are also informed me that since I cannot explain and accident that the extended warranty does not cover it either. I will never do business with Empire again, and strongly recommend no one else does, at least when it comes to flooring. read more

We filed a warranty repair that after 2 months it's not done. They set up a claim, they called twice, but left no messages and then closed the complaint. Kyle Hobart was my flooring consultant and I could not be more disappointed with my experience. He said we are "empire today, that means we can install today." We were very excited about this but after we picked our flooring and Kyle left our house, we never heard from him again. Despite my 10 phone calls and multiple text messages over the next 20 DAYS, he never responded. I called Empire Today and told them and they said "Lets set an install date." We did that. The date came and passed with no-one installing anything and no one communicated with me about anything at all. I called them again and they said "let's set an install date." I said no, give me a refund. After 3+ weeks of wasting my time, having ZERO COMMUNICATION, and LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM I would advise others to not use this company. After reading more of their reviews and seeing their work, the best thing they did for me was not start installing my flooring. read more

The purpose of this review is to discuss the spam emails received daily from Empire. According to federal law, companies are required to 'unsubscribe' recipients of their emails, when that request is made. Empire, and a number of other companies, apparently have discovered a way around this law. They enlist the aid of 'ad partners'. So, when you receive an email from the company, and unsubscribe from that sender, you continue to get the same spam emails from other 'ad partners'. We literally receive, and unsubscribe from, spam emails from Empire almost daily. I am contacting the Federal Trade Commission to see what steps can be taken to prevent these disgusting spam emails. I will NEVER use this company for any flooring work I ever need done. read more

I had a estimate then when I was called about discounts I stated my husband is disabled veteran so they said they would give discount . Do the next day I applied for credit with them snd I stated that I was given a discount so my price was now $7100 the guy that came out called them snd their response was we don't give discounts but we can give you a cheaper brand I could not believe what I heard a cheaper brand we told them no deal us off . I did read the reviews but thought I would give them a chance I'm so glad I did not go thru with them , that's how you treat your military no thanks Getting my floors done by someone else for even less I would not go to them for anything.... read more

This is absolutely the WORST company I have done business with! Crappy quality, and even crappies customer service! I spent a significant amount of money on new flooring and carpet, was assured about their "lifetime" warranties and in less than 6 months when I had issues with severe scratching and bubbling of the flooring was told that the warranty was void due to misuse and neglect and an imaginary moisture problem. The customer service Rep was RUDE as Hell and basically said she is done talking with me. My Advice: pay a little more money and go with another company. EMPIRE SUCKS!!!!! read more

Scheduling issues caused a complete delay in the flooring project I had put a thousand dollar deposit on. They gave me a discount if $500 to keep the project alive. I accepted the offer. Their communication between different departments was non existent. I informed both the salesman and the point person that I was not of work until 8am they both didn't inform the installers of that and they were waiting outside my house for an hour before I could let them in. Otherwise, the install went great and my laminate flooring looks amazing. Overall I'm happy, but the combination of the scheduling issue and the miscommunication is the reason for only giving them 3 stars. The entire bottom floor of my house was completed in one day and I'm satisfied with my purchase. read more
