Had hardwood flooring installed and was the worst mistake ever. Salesman stated we had a five year warranty on scratches being fixed and we would have no issues. Made it two day's and called about the quality of the product because it is already scratches. This is supposed to be the best true hardwood flooring and the customer service is horrible. The only positive one was the installer. Call center is an absolute run around and poor help. We have two boards left and that's it. Installer said he will tell them we need another box, still haven't heard anything about that. My suggestion would be say away and do not buy the warranty because even that's worthless. The next morning I received a phone call and received an apology. First company I know of that took the time to talk to me, apologize (sincerely). That speaks volumes to me! The work was finished, area cleaned, and it looks great. Can't rate the entire experience as positive, however after speaking to them I was very happy with the results. Will I use them again? I would leave a 0 star if I could. They did not let the wood acclimate to the environment. They took it straight out of the box and installed it. It has warped on the floor and the company has not done anything to help us. The floor vents were cut to large, leaving gaps. The floor is rising in front of both bedroom doors making it hard for the doors to open. There are also small nail holes in many of the wood slats. Their contractors refused to wear masks in the height of COVID. The only solution they offers was for the SAME contractors to come fix their shoddy work. I refuse to have the same contractors come back, it feels unsafe. read more

The experience with Empire Today in Raleigh was terrible. They showed up to replace my bathroom / closet floor without the subflooring that needed to be replaced. They made me pay the remainder of the cost before they went to Lowes to get the needed materials. Three hours later they did not have enough LVP or the thresholds for the job. They said they would finish it 2 days later but never showed up. After multiple unreturned phone calls they finally showed up on the third day. Still they didn't have the thresholds for the two doors and installed ones that the installer thought were "pretty close." read more

I left a company I was contracted with to let Empire handle the job and it was a bad decision. 1st day of installation one of my rooms couldn't be done because the order was incorrect and the material was not there. Also I wish it was explained better the 8 item max of furniture that they move in which you have to put your own bed back once it's moved. I was told by my sales representative that they are a flooring company not a moving company which he stated to me not once but twice and they don't have time to spend 2 hours moving peoples furniture. This same sales man stated I contact him if I need anything but everytime I reached out he was unavailable and not good a responding to my text messages which left me with no other option then to call the office and speak with a manager. Once I did that a manager told me she would have another manager contact me shortly well that was 3 days ago and I still have not heard from anyone at all. The molding I ordered was overlooked and the 3rd party installers which knew nothing of what I had ordered with empire put down the wrong molding I am now still waiting for correct ones to arrive and was told it could be 2 weeks before I receive them. For the amount of money that was paid for this project I expected much better service and as the sales rep felt need to tell me empire is the largest flooring company in the country so I even more expected nothing but the best in service. I'm very disappointed that my concerns seem to have fallen on deaf ears. read more

We had our flooring installed back in 2021 and it was a parent that they hired local installers as the laborers. Fast forward to 2023, and we have to have our patio door replaced. The installer from Lowe's found a bunch of water damage behind the door frame where I have been installed improperly. The big problem was the flooring next to the patio door. It had rotted and was molding and we didn't know it. The installer said it takes years for that to get to this level of disrepair. And in his opinion, the flooring installers had seen this problem, and had chose to ignore it, and finished installing over this mess. According to the door installer, there is no way that level of degradation had occurred in just two years. So, if you're going to hire, Empire insist that they don't hire local labor or make sure you were there every step of the way standing over them or you would not be faced with the same problems we are. And when I called Empire about this I was told oh that is so sad but it's out of warranty so we're not gonna be able to help you out. read more

The installation team was also very informative as the installation was being done and they had me check their progress, etc. a couple of times. It was all done in one day. My husband and I got our floors done about three years ago when we bought our house. At first we were very happy with the floors and how they looked. Unfortunately, after a year, we started to notice residue coming up from the floors in the basement. We scraped it off because we thought it might have been from our dogs feeding toy getting crud all over the floor. It was better for a while after that, and then we started to notice it coming back. I eventually googled what it could be and found that it was likely due to not having a moisture barrier under the floor. That was something that was never suggested to my husband or I when we had the salesman out initially. We have also been having problems with the floor boards coming apart in our upstairs flooring. Scratches have also been a problem on supposed scratch resistant floors, even with furniture that has the felt pads on it. Overall, I am severely disappointed in the quality of the products and the installation. I did try to call them and see what could be done, but they wanted to charge me to have someone come out. On top of that, they wouldn't fix it. They planned to give me a quote to fix. Why on earth would I buy more floors from you if I am unhappy with your product! This company did not do what they promised. Before the consultant even arrived, I asked if our stairwell floor could be done along with several rooms upstairs and downstairs. When the consultant came, she took a photo of the current stairwell, and confirmed with her boss they could replace the carpet with laminate flooring to match the other rooms. I didn't get the consultant's name because instead of a business card she gave me a flyer for another business, "Sharese Studio." We signed a contract for over $30K that included several rooms and the stairwell. We asked our consultant who to call if there were install issues, and she said she would be available. When the subcontractor arrived, he immediately stated the stairwell could not be done and that this type of work would never be done by Empire. We called our consultant and she said she would call her boss. She never answered us. We received a discount of less than $2K for the labor and materials not provided in the stairwell. However, I still have a stairwell with nasty old carpet ripping away from the sides (see photo), and they did not do what they promised. We made the decision to hire them after being promised the whole job could be done, and we wanted our floors and stairs to match. Now the job is piecemeal and we will never be able to get the stairs and floors to match. That said, the subcontractors did nice looking work on the part they were able to do, were polite, and worked very quickly. read more

We have been in our 14 year old house for 10 years. That said, with dogs and 4 kids the carpet and hardwoods took a beating. We initially went to Lowe's for a quote which we thought was high. I contacted Empire Today for a quote. They sent an independent contractor/salesman named Josh Chambers from Avenue Home (336) 380-6298) to look at our house and provide an estimate. Josh is a patient person and answered every question we had and provided every sample we asked for over a 3 hour period. We could not have asked for a better person to deal with. He also contacted us periodically prior to the install, which was within a week! Two teams of installers arrived as scheduled and began the arduous task of removing and then installing carpet and premium vinyl plank. They completed our 2800 square foot home in 1.5 days! Not 1 apology, nothing. 10 minutes later I found out THE REP RAN OUT OF GAS. Are you kidding me, how old are you? I was a bit skeptical after reading some reviews before settling on Empire to do the flooring for the majority of my new townhome. The salesman that came to my home was so great. He explained everything about every aspect of the process from materials, to installation, to care instructions. He was so patient as I labored over color decisions for entirely too long. Once I finally made my choices, installation dates were set up, and we were ready to go. I chose a vinyl plank flooring for hallways and my master, and carpet for the stairs and guest bedrooms. He anticipated that the job would take two days. Installation began at 8am on Monday and two crews came to install the carpet and vinyl flooring separately. They were done with everything by 3pm that day! I was thoroughly impressed with the vinyl crew in particular. They took so much time to make sure that everything was up to my specifications, and even had an extra box of vinyl and offered to do my utility closet at no extra charge! The carpet crew was not nearly as friendly, but they did a good job, so I don't have anything else to say about that. Empire has proven to be a colossally inept middle-man for flooring installation. They send out subcontractors who you have to explain the job to because you've never met them prior to work being done, they sell cheap flooring that does not live up to expectations (they billed this vinyl plank flooring as "scratch proof," but if anything of any weight slides on it, it leaves horrible and irreparable white scratches because the wood finish is only paper thin), and now that I'm having to use their warranty to repair a faulty installation, I can't even get them to send a crew with the right materials to do the work, meanwhile I have to keep moving furniture and rearranging rooms of my home. They have given me the runaround for over a month, making claims about why they can't repair the problem with the installation despite getting the third party analysis they requested I get which said there was no reason to delay the install. I have never gotten a call returned that was placed to the local office or to the managers I have spoken to, every time I have to call their main corporate line, talk to customer service, and get them to send a message to the local office requesting they call me back, and even then I have experienced days of waiting for a call back. Do not buy from this company! I have been having an issue with my carpet I had installed in October 2020 and started seeing a noticeable seam in the middle of my living room. After four attempts to fix it I was told they couldn't fix the issues and they would have to replace the carpet. Now I can't get anyone to call me back and was stood up twice waiting on a salesman to show up and show me new flooring. I can't get anyone from customer service to call me back. Bad business practices. The consult was great and the ONE installer who showed up was great but we had to move our own furniture and my husband has a heart condition. We were told at consult that we did not have to move big items. We requested our house be done in two visits and were told balance would be due at completion. We that is not true. Per the Supervisor at Empire, it is due COD even though we were financed for more than the first visit cost. He also stated it was my fault I did not tell the one person to move our furniture. If you go with them for your flooring - know it is their practice to only allow 1-2 people to work in your home at a time due to C-19. So big projects will take days. The moved my 50+ pound dog in his crate then when my dog was scared and acting scared they all laughed about it! He is traumatized. They also swore the entire time they were here knowing I had a house full of children. The carpet needs some fixes and I specifically requested a different crew to fix it! They sent the same crew!!! And they were an hour late! Now I have to reschedule again ‍‍ Oh and they broke our $150 nanny cam by dropping it!! and while hammering the carpet in two clocks fell and shattered!! Carpet ripped 16 months after installation. Upon initiating a request for repair I was told this was not covered. Both the local supervisor(Liam D) and the national office did not seem to care and obviously were of no help. The worst part is the lack of compassion and caring about the customer. I set up an appointment with Empire Today. The sales associate came and spent a lot of time with my husband and I. Nate explained everything thoroughly, and answered every question. We placed our order, paid, and all was well. Yesterday the installation came and this where it changed to a horrible experience. First Carlos told me they didn't have enough carpet for the job. He made a phone call and so did I .Then the excuse changed.I was told the carpet was too stained and dirty for the crew to remove the carpet. I am aware how stained the carpet is, that is why they were being replaced ! When I questioned him about them refusing, he laughed and told me his men already went back to their van. I was very upset by this. My options were either I hire someone else to remove and dispose of the carpets & then they will return to install the new ones OR I cancel the order. Scheduled an appointment for Monday between 3-5. No one showed up and no communication from the company. I contacted the company and they told me that apparently it had been rescheduled but no notes were put in and then the rep said that it appears that no one was available in the first place for the appointment. The guys installing my carpeting from Empire Today were trying to make a bit of money on the side and I wouldn't have minded but the carpet they were offering was some sort of an odd looking mottled pink/blue mix. I had gone to Empire Today because I needed some carpet installed quickly for my bedroom and didn't want to deal with a fly-by-night installer. Knock on wood, as you'll see. Empire Today is one of the biggest carpeting/flooring companies in the country. Set up of an in-home sales appointment was easy and the guy they sent was a good dude. Carpet installation went pretty cleanly but they did not re-install my closet doors giving me some sort of excuse in a non-english language. Months later, I also found unfinished trim work and the carpet/linoleum transition came loose. Lazy workmanship here! So what's my final take? Empire Today was fast but certainly not cheap and the installation was shoddy. And the sub-contractors they used weren't of great quality, I might have just as well picked a number out of the yellow pages. I'm pretty certain you can do better than Empire Today if you don't mind taking some time to look around. Stick with a reputable local business if you have a choice because Empire Today is just slightly better than carpetbaggers in the olden days. read more

Empire installed the laminate floors in my house. I enjoyed the quick, easy service...within 48 hours of deciding to get the floors, they were installed. It was a little pricey, however, but it was worth it for the quick, beautiful job. I'd give them a higher rating, but when I called them back this year to come install the same floor in another room, they no longer carried the same flooring. They had also been advertising a great sale, but the prices were no cheaper than they were last year, and the salesman tried to give me this big pitch about how prices of laminate had gone up since last year. I find the hard sale tactics to be a little icky, and I'm planning to take my business elsewhere for my next flooring experience. read more

I was then contacted by the same rep stating he forgot to add a bathroom and the difference would be $3200!!!! The whole job was $11,200. I told him to cancel the order. Even after I cancelled, Empier REPEATEDLY attempted to cash my deposit check! Costing me $44 in overdraft fees. I called 3 times and this kept happening. Installers arrived and told us we needed plywood and padding and we were told the floor would most likely unglue after a year or so!Kudos to the installers for letting us know this. We had hardwood floors installed in our living room next to existing hardwood floor in our kitchen and entryway. During the consultation, we made it abundantly clear that we wanted a seamless look between the two rooms, as there is no wall separating them. They assured us that they could make that happen. Upon arrival for the installation, we were told that they could not remove the threshold between the two rooms, but they could still give it a seamless look. I'm still not sure why the threshold had to stay, but at any rate, we decided that would be okay as long as they matched up the boards. See photo for what it looks like. They did not even try to to line up the boards! It would have been so easy, but they started on the opposite side of the room from where the existing floor was started, so the boards don't line up at all. We are left with a very defined split between our very open kitchen/living room. This is completely unacceptable, and way below industry standards. Everyone I have asked has been appalled and said that even a non-professional would know to match up the boards. We are very disappointed and now stuck with an issue that will effect the resale of our home. We were trying to add value and we got an eyesore instead. read more

Absolutely terrible on every level. Our original install date was 7/12 and they had to come back 6 times to fix the issues that were not done right the first time. We even had one of the installers argue with us for 30 minutes defending his terrible work. Since they use subcontractors, no one knows what is going on so we had to reexplain the issue each of the 6 times they came out. The installers also broke our daughter's armoire while moving it and Empire refused to give us enough to replace it. We spent $12k on new floors and we would NEVER go through Empire again. Horrible in every way. Salesman came out, measured -- walked through every room with me. When install team came out, magically measurements were too low and two rooms were 'missed'. Today the installers arrived with the wrong product. When they started to install I asked them if that's what they sent. They said yes, I told them it's wrong. They called their manager. I explained to him it was wrong. He told me that it was what I ordered and that I signed the contract. So I said fine take it all back and I'm canceling my order. He told me well I shouldn't be mad because it was what I signed and ordered. How about that for customer service. Stay far far away from this company. They are pure trash. I signed up for their free estimate. They came out and gave me a verbal $17,000 quote and never gave me the tangible copy. I wrote to them and called them requesting it. I needed the tangible copy for my records to fulfill my home insurance claim. Finally got someone on their facebook of all places and they had someone contact me via email. It is impossible to get the email for someone there otherwise. When I responded with my request again, that same day, I got an automatic I am on vacation response back. Normally, I don't answer surveys or post reviews, but my experience with Empire was so bad that I had to do something about it. Problem 1: There was a serious disconnect between what I was told by the sales team and the installer. I was looking to purchase hardwood flooring. I told the sales team this and they agreed that this was what I wanted, but the man who came to measure didn't bring any hardwood samples and said Empire didn't install it. Instead he tried to sell me LVP... I have LVP, I don't want LVP. If I did I would have asked for it. If the sales team would have told me that they didn't have hardwood then I would have told them not to come out and waste both of our time. Instead they were either dishonest with me or the sales team doesn't even know their own product... both seem like indicators of a company I would never do business with. Problem 2: The pricing scheme is not transparent and appears to be dishonest. Since the installer had already come out and wasted both our time, I decided to let him do his thing and give me a quote for LVP because why not. I asked him for the square footage. He refused to give it and said it didn't matter because "that's not how we price things." So how do you price things? He quoted me at $11,000. When I politely declined ($11,000 for 1,100 square feet of LVP or $10/ft is ridiculous) he immediately adjusted the price to $9,000 (still really high) Why? Obviously Empire was just trying to rip me off for as much as you could if your first quote was almost 20% higher than your second. By the way, I still don't know how you price it it's not by square foot. Based off my experience, it's likely arbitrary and inflated... again dishonest and representative of a company I wouldn't do business with. Problem 3: The price, as above mentioned, was ridiculous. Lowe's did the job I actually wanted (hardwood) for a full $3000 ($6000 at Lowe's for a BETTER PRODUCT vs $9000 at Empire) than Empire's "adjusted" price on lower quality LVP... oh, and they were honest, explained how they reached that price in a manner that made sense (square footage), didn't pressure me, and were several weeks quicker all around. In summary, I have no idea how Empire is still in business... the only explanation that makes sense to me is that you rip off people too naive to check your work and call you on your BS. I will be telling everyone I know to stay away from Empire at all costs! read more

Might be a blessing in disguise that they have incompetent schedulers. I called to see if it's possible to reschedule my appt and asked if they have following weekend avail. She mentioned no then I asked if the following after that is avail. And was told no again. I said ok I'll just keep my appt. then was told she canceled my appt and can't get it back. then I asked her why she canceled it before we can find an availability she then hanged up. So I called back again and this other customer service tells me that I was scheduled to some date which I didn't approve because the other cust service hanged upon me. Really?! I wasn't even yelling are even disrespectful. Not a good way to get new cust. I didn't read their reviews before but after reading these reviews I guess her incompetence saved me from making the same mistakes others had. read more
