Kimi's Carpets Plus was great! They stood by their product and their work, ultimately providing us a wonderful carpet (despite a materials-related setback that wasn't their fault). When we needed carpet in our bedroom & closets, we went to their showroom & selected carpet that seemed perfect for us, but when it was installed, it turned out that this new carpet style from Shaw hadn't been completely tested out. It didn't "seam up" properly, i.e., no matter what the installers tried, they couldn't get rid of a visible seam across the length of the room. The carpet came in a 12-foot roll and the room was wider than 12 feet, so the carpet had to have a seam, which is normally completely invisible. This new carpet style, though, had loop pile so close together and with a distinct enough diagonal pattern that matching the seam was impossible. Cutting the edge close enough to match the diagonal pattern meant not leaving enough backing to hold the loop in, so it would pull out. Apparently Shaw didn't test out installation well in the design & manufacture of that carpet style. When Kimi's operations manager was the final installation, he immediately agreed that the seam was too visible and agreed to replace the carpet. We selected another style -- one that the installers assured us would "seam up"! -- and Kimi's came and installed it with no problem. It was apparently covered by Shaw's materials warranty and also Kimi's installation warranty. The installers were friendly and professional; they did a fine job (both times, aside from the materials problem). We'd happily use Kimi's again and we recommend them. read more

TLDR; This company overpromises and underdelivers, accepting payment for work they're not able to complete. The owner is rude, unprofessional, and has a temper with both his employees and customers. The project was delayed at the last minute by two weeks. They refuse to even acknowledge their mistakes, tried to trick us into paying for the work they're unable to complete, and even hired a lawyer to send a letter threatening a lawsuit over the 1-star review. It started off poorly, as they called us the day before they were to start, and said that the materials hasn't arrived yet, and that their starting date would be delayed by two weeks. This put us in a bit of a situation and also cost us money, as we'd blocked off our Airbnb rooms already for those dates, moved furniture and things around, and had scheduled our vacation around the dates they'd originally given us. This also meant that they'd be installing it right before Christmas, when we had out of town guests staying with us causing further disruption. We let it go without saying anything, and just did what we could to work around their new schedule, nearly two weeks later. The problem isn't so much that the materials weren't delivered on time (did someone forget to order them?) but rather that they didn't bother telling us until right before they were originally to start, instead of as soon as they learned the materials wouldn't arrive in time. During the 5 days of installation, the owner was constantly berating and yelling at his employees, which made things a bit uncomfortable in the house for our family and visitors. It was only after we'd paid the deposit and they'd done most of the work that the owner said he wasn't able to do part of it. They insisted that they weren't able to do a raised platform in the theater room that both looks good and is safe. After I said that particular area was specifically discussed when they came out to measure for a quote, and was what was explicitly agreed on both verbally and in the contract, he stormed out of the house and cursed at us. My wife, our visiting houseguests, and I were left standing there in shock at his behavior. Someone from their office called right after he left and said that they weren't sure whether it could be done, and that when Mike saw it he knew it couldn't be covered with LVP so that it would be both safe and look good. None of this was mentioned to us from the beginning, or when they accepted the deposit, or when they started the work. In addition, another contractor, who also installs flooring and was there earlier during the project, made numerous remarks about workmanship quality issues in their installation. We had various other problems with aspects of the installation. Since the owner stormed out in a tantrum, I didn't even have a chance to bring them up. However, it's easier to just not deal with them, and we're hiring someone else to fix their work, and complete the part they weren't able to. What really irks me is that we bought the flooring they recommended. If that flooring wasn't a good choice for stairs or for the theater room platform, they should have recommended something that was. We accepted their recommendations without hesitation, trusting that they had our best interest in mind. The next day, Kimi tried to insist the work was completed and that we needed to pay the remaining balance right away. I can't understand how she could possibly insist that we pay for work they aren't able to complete. It blows my mind that she'd even consider such a thing. I told her that we'd be happy to pay for the work that was completed and for the materials that were used. While eventually she did have an employee send over a new invoice, to date she has neither acknowledged nor apologized for their mistakes, stating that the work was done during the agreed timeframe (it wasn't), that it was complete (it wasn't), and that her husband cursed at me in my home in front of my wife and our houseguests. When you can't rely on a company that has done work for you to come for a small repair, that's a company and contractor you need to stay away from. Been trying for two months to get a repair technician to repair a hole in the carpet that they installed. No one gets back to you and even when you get a live person on the phone, no one follows up. We finally had a tech call to schedule the work, but since there was some snow coming he said he would call if he were to cancel and then reschedule.. No one called. I called the office again and no one was there to speak to. Left a message and no one followed up... They answered another review of mine saying this that and the other, but all excuses... They just aren't the type of company I would ever deal with again... They are rude when you call them telling you they have no control over their technicians and if they decide to call.. WHAT WHAT... that is such nonsense....anyway... that's all I got to say... I called four other carpet places and they all got back to me immediately or actually picked up their phone.... read more

The owner's husband is rude and unprofessional, dropped a F bomb before storming out of our house while we were trying to ask him questions. Overall poor customer service and workmanship aside, we did not even have a chance to ask them about how to care for the floors. All of our house guests over the Christmas holidays have complained about the workmanship quality of the stairs. Every. Single. Person. They complain that they look bad, are poorly constructed, and are unsafe to walk on. One guest even refused to go up them as he considered them to be so unsafe. I'm embarrassed for people to see our stairs, and Kimi's Carpets Plus should be embarrassed to produce stairs of such a poor quality. They've shown no interest in correcting their mistakes, or even owning up to them. We're having to pay to replace the stairs entirely, as well as to finish the incomplete flooring in the theater room they were unable to do. read more

Buying new flooring was stressful for me - Until Kimi and Mike came to my home. I had gotten some outrageous quote and was about to say FORGET ABOUT IT! I called Kimi on a Saturday and she called me back that afternoon, and came to my house the following Monday. When she and Mike walked into my home, it was like family walking in. They were honest, non judgmental (my carpet was a hot mess) and gave me an estimate and samples to look at. After the previous estimate experiences, I knew I had found my safe place. When I first saw my flooring, I bawled like a baby. It is hard to believe that horrible carpet is now a beautiful laminate floor and I could not be more pleased. It sounds so cliché, but truly - I felt like a trusted family member placed my floors. I know there is a bad recommendation here - Trust me - give them a call and see for yourself. We moved from our house in Cary to Fuquay-Varina in order to sell the house in Cary. The house in Cary needed new carpet and LVP floors in the kitchen and bathrooms. Got quotes from several vendors to include Kimi's. JJ was the salesperson. Had 1 or 2 less expensive quotes, but those vendors seemed to want to push low quality. JJ gave me a very fair quote. I wanted to remove the old flooring before painting and install new after painting, which they did. For both removal and installation, they seemed to have plenty of help, and both jobs were done quickly. I was very happy with the work and I believe the new flooring helped the house sell well. Since I lived in F-V at the time, I would stop in occasionally to their shop to ask questions. Everyone I spoke with seemed very customer focused and knowledgable. So I had my kitchen and dining room floors done by Kimi's Carpets & they were amazing! In fact, they were so good we just had them extend the floors into our living room. And when our house flooded, we contracted them to put tile in the bathroom. It's gorgeous! They were wonderful, communicated well and went out of their way to help us when the insurance company didn't want to cover something. Kimi even wrote a letter to the insurance company for us. Mike did the installation of our floor with his father and oversaw the tile installation. They worked on our schedule, finished promptly when they said they would and left the house clean and put back together. I would & HAVE recommended them to friends. This has been the worst experience we've ever had with contractors. First, they advertise that their family does the work. The morning the project began, a couple of men who didn't speak English showed up at our door who were clearly not related to the owners. About an hour later, Kim showed up and said that these guys were going to take care of the flooring project and that they were "the best flooring guys in North Carolina" and were from another company because their own workers weren't available. That was okay until I found the guys laying down the flooring directly onto the cement foundation without a plastic moisture barrier. Thankfully I caught them when they had only made it through half of one room, but that delayed things and made us worry about their capabilities. The next morning I called Kim to ask her about whether she really believed these guys knew what they were doing because I had also discovered that they were installing the flooring such that there were significant gaps, causing the flooring to have a sort of bounce. I had been very clear that however it needed to happen, we wanted to be absolutely sure that the entire job was done well and there would not be any areas with "give" so we would walk on the floor and it would feel solid and sturdy, not bouncing because of a variance in the foundation. I was assured repeatedly that all would be to our liking and that it would definitely not be a problem to have the flooring totally solid. When I called her that day, she rushed me off the phone, saying she was going to call their manager to make sure that they were doing things with quality in mind and that she would call me right back. She never did call me. We were told the job would take two days, but for sure would be finished on the third day by noon. They didn't "finish" until the third day at almost 7pm and they were rushing and noticeably upset at how long the job was taking. They left a mess behind them, making it clear that they were under pressure, not to do a great job, but to just hurry up and get out. There are so many problems with our flooring that now we have to call in another company to come fix everything. Throughout the project, the guys would ask us to tell them what to do. They cut baseboards at strange angles, scratched up newly painted walls, scratched up the brand new flooring as they fumbled to get standard closet doors on tracks, damaged two closet doors, left many areas with a bounce in the flooring, left a couple of areas where the wood is in too tight so it's bowing upward, left gaps between wood pieces so many areas ended up with wood filler in them unnecessarily, and many areas have clearly been just rushed through to get out of here but left a low quality signature on it. After many phone calls and emails to Kim to try to get them to come fix all of the issues, I finally got one email back, assuring me that it was at the top of her priority list and that everything would be fixed immediately. A guy was sent over one day to fix things and he was doing a good job except he left before he finished and broke a sliding mirrored closet door as he tried to put it back correctly. I later had a handyman come help remove the broken door (the guy just left the shattered glass everywhere in the bedroom and said nothing) and as he did, noticed that they had tried to squeeze the door into a space that was too tight and it has a very obvious adjustment piece that could have easily prevented the door from breaking. This was the second door that was damaged and we had to spend $450 ordering replacement doors. The manager for this sub-contracted company just said to me, "I don't know what to say. We don't like to take doors in and out. We are done with your house. I'll call Kim and have her get in touch with you to arrange for someone else to finish. My guys are all booked up." Needless to say, no one has called me and that was more than a week ago. It's been an unending nightmare and I wish I'd told them to leave with the first big mistake of trying to lay flooring down without a moisture barrier. Customer service and quality were both excellent, and Kim was very communicative throughout the entire process. Cost was very competitive and installation was completed ahead of schedule. On New Year's Eve rolling into 2015 I had a major plumbing back up that damaged my my downstairs bathroom, hallway, living room and foyer. The whole floor had to ripped up and concrete exposed. I was devastated not only about the damage but the cost of the repair out of pocket. I came across after numerous searches for financing and just like that after because turned down or given low credit limits that would not cover the repair THEY HELP ME! I got financed over 2K! I have to say once it was time to pick out my new flooring (hardwood), the service here was excellent. I received follow up calls giving me constant updates prior to the install on the status of my floor order. The best part is that my appointment was at 9am and they showed up on time and never stopped working until the job was done. After my installation was complete Kim (the owner), showed up the next day just to confirm the install was to my satisfaction. She made me feel like a valued customer and that's the kind of service I wish I received from all businees. They turned a New Year's Eve disaster into a New Year's delight! Zero stars if yelp would allow it. Where is my repair carpets plus???? It was promised over a week ago. BEWARE!!! Do not do business with these people. Lady that works store front swears at you when you confront them about not answering your calls and giving you the run around. She makes excuses for her poor customer service, the owners customer service and their inability to do the job they promised. Have filed complaints with BBB. They also will tell you they're going to fix your carpet (with no mention of possible fees) then come to your house, pull up your carpet then tell you they aren't putting it back in until your pay them. Shady shady shady. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. Horrible customer service. The people who install their carpets take smoke breaks every 20min. Dress unprofessionally and are very rude.
