This company is a joke from how the salesman conducted himself (which I won't get into) to the totally incapable man that showed for the install. Empire Today claims next day service; however, they couldn't give me an install date for 6 days, then the day before the install they give you a time frame of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, they can't even narrow it down to half a day; therefore you have to take an entire day off work. I was scheduled for a Wednesday install, I called several times during the day to get an approximate time they would be there, finally around 1:00 pm they said someone would be there between 3:00-4:00, at 4:00 the installer called to say he would be there in 15 minutes, he didn't show till 5:00 pm, keep in mind, I negotiated a price in which the installer would remove the furniture, around 3:00 I realized he would not have time (it's a very large room), so I hired my 2 neighbors to help me move all the furniture out (some of which had to be put on my back patio), when the installer arrived at 5:00 (I was shocked only one man showed, this is definitely a 2 person job), he said he had the wrong size carpet in his van, also realized he did not have the "special glue" required for this type of installation, therefore I had to reschedule (after taking an entire day off work, and my bedroom furniture is outside), at 5:01 you can't reach anyone to reschedule, so I called first thing Thursday morning and the best they could do was reschedule for Friday, installer calls Friday at 11:00 to say he'll be there in 15 minutes, he showed at 12:15, part of the install was that the floor be cleaned prior to install, the installer did not have any equipment to do such, so I did it. As the installer preceded to put down the tack stripping with the "special glue", which is supposed to take 30 minutes to set-up (harden), he proceeds to measure and cut the 3 thresholds to be put down when he realized he did not have the tool to do so, so I gave him the saw to do so, momentarily I heard this extremely loud banging, I ran outside and he was sawing the threshold on a piece of my furniture of which he took a chunk out of it, I said to please stop, he apologized and said he would fix it (at this point I can't trust that he can fix anything), we went back inside to check to see if the glue has dried, it is still as wet as when it was put down, I called the manufacturer CME Concrete Materials & Equipment to explain what was happening with the TackMaster Adhesive Fast ("special glue"), they proceeded to tell me it had been applied incorrectly, they explained to myself and the installer to take up the tack strips, clean up the glue and reapply with the green dispenser tip that was provided with the glue that my installer choose to throw away instead of using (that's what mixes the epoxy so that it actually works). Then torrential rain begins and I looked outside to see his van back doors were open and he had two windows with no glass, I let him know it was raining, he said that's ok, I reminded him my carpet was in the van and getting wet, then he decided to run out and close the van doors. All the while, from beginning to end as he comes and goes through my front door and sliders, he never once closed it behind him, I finally let him know he was working in my house and not a barn, to please close doors behind him (89 degrees outside). Now that WE have taken up all the tack stripping, he realizes he doesn't have any more glue, so he promises to be here the next morning (Saturday) by 9:00 am, he finally shows at 10:30, which gave me a few hours to clean up all the residual glue around the entire room. I'm now watching every move, because of all the mistakes including him touching my walls, doors, baseboards with glue on his hands (which was almost impossible for me to clean off) and getting glue on the bottom of his shoes and walking through the rest of my house which has Maple hardwood floors (I'm still trying to get that up), Now he's finally putting the carpet down and as he's measuring and cutting, he rolls the carpet over to cut and cuts through to the carpet that is to remain, I had to point this out to him countless times. Also leaving tiny nails all over the floor which I kept picking up and asking him to be careful with the tack strip nails, but it didn't help, he finally finished with the carpet, somewhat cleaned up his mess, never helped move the furniture back in (which was included in the price) and left without fixing the furniture he almost ruined. What should have been a 4 hour job, took 3 full days of my time, aggravation and each day I tried speaking with a supervisor about what was going on, each time you have to explain why you need to speak with a supervisor, then you're on hold at least 22 minutes before a supposed supervisor gets on the phone, they are going to look into it and get back to you, Adam, Carlos and I can't remember the other supervisors names never called back, have yet to hear back. read more
