One star is too much. They refused to match price. Larry my salesman wasted days. Then would not reply to my request to match price. After this I started reading reviews and saw many customers that had problems from pricing, quality and honoring warranty. . Do your honework and uoull find a better choice.

On the day of the carpet installation, the installer came in and moved all the furniture all over the place barricaded all my rooms even my bathrooms. He then rolled the carpet out in the parking lot and saw that he didn't have enough carpet, it was damaged and he couldn't start the job. So he told me he'd be back the next day but in the meantime I had no access to my bedrooms or bathrooms. He didn't care and neither did they! Finally the day comes he's going to install the carpet. He did not use the padding that I ordered --I needed water resistant padding and he put in something else- the cheap padding. Then he actually laid the carpet in place and never kicked it so it was tight. There was no kicking at all. He couldn't finish off the edge by my tile and left it lower than my tile. I called Empire and they had to send somebody else out to finish the edge of the carpet by the tile. I've had the carpet two years now. It is already showing wear and there's only one person living here. The seam looks defective and I called them and got numerous ticket numbers and nobody ever called me back. Finally someone called me back just recently and told me it's a little late for them to do anything. If I wanted someone to come and look at the carpet I have to pay them $75 to walk in the door. So much for carpeting that had a warranty for 15 years. That means nothing. They also put down laminate flooring in the guestroom and luxury vinyl tile planking in the bathrooms. I noticed one of the planks in the bathroom was moving. I called them about that and they said they don't guarantee the installation. They could come for $75 and replace the plank that's loose but I would have to pay for the installation. So their warranties mean nothing. Their service sucks. They keep forgetting to call you after they give you ticket numbers and it goes on and on and nothing gets done. There is one other thing they did. I paid for 5 inch wood moldings in the bathrooms and the guestroom that they did with the laminate. I was on vacation and had not used the bathroom for three weeks because I was away. I noticed a stain on the wood molding, like a water stain. That's not possible if it's wood unless the room was submerged in water and it was not. My handyman removed the piece of molding that was supposed to be 5 inch wood base molding and saw that it was corkboard backing. Who installs that crap in a bathroom? That's not what I paid for or what I ordered. That means they installed this fiberboard fake molding and that's why it had a stain. I called them and they said that's what they installed --they never install real wood base molding. I said no one told me that --I ordered wood base molding. They told me that they would replace it But I would have to buy the wood molding myself. I actually did that because I didn't want that crap in my rooms that they put there. So they sent an installer and he installed the real wood molding and removed the pressboard crap that they put in. So I would not recommend this company to anyone. I spent over $8000 and had problems with everything they installed. Who installs the carpet without kicking it to make sure it's tight? My brother-in-law had a carpeting business so I'm very familiar with how things are installed. If he was still alive he would've done the carpet for me. They think because you're a woman living alone that they can take advantage. And one of their salesman was very creepy. I didn't want him back in my house again. The other one was a gentleman. Do not use Empire carpet-- they're a rip off and they have shoddy installation and fake base molding. It's funny when I go into a doctors office and I see that molding --it has a particular look, I can tell that it's the shoddy fiberboard molding. I wonder if those people know what was installed. It was definitely not wood. Empire is a company of scammers. They also never give you a price per square yard or square foot. They just do something in their head and give you a price on a piece of paper write it out. I understand they have countless samples to show you but the representatives only bring in like four or five things to look at. I had no idea that they would be able to match my hallway porcelain planking. Unprofessional company! If I could give them 1/2 star, I would!! Horrible company!

This is an example of what their work looks like

Do not hire them unless you want the edges of your floor to look like this and don't finance because the bank will take your money, not help you and sine Empire has been paid they have no incentive to help. Shame on Empire and shame on Wells Fargo

Many things come to mind when you think of beautiful hardwood floors: the form, the sheen, the…read moreluster, and even a bit of history. But what does not come to mind in the daunting task and small miracle that it takes to keep them so beautiful. Having recently moved into a 1925 Old Spanish, my wife and I felt it was time to strip that old and poorly applied shiny lacquer and bring new life to those floors. Here is where we had no idea what we were getting into. I had done many online searches and read about all floor refinishing, it seemed very straight forward. This was obviously not something I was going to attempt but I just wanted to be informed, I was off to get a quote! When Ramon and I met up, he was prompt, professional, and knew exactly what he was talking about. I asked many questions and found out that he, and his company, uses an extensive multi-step sanding process that really makes the difference, other than the products used of course. He came, he saw, he measured, he explained, he answered, and then he left. Armando sent me the quote the next day and even called me to follow up and if I had any questions, which I did, obviously. At the price point, I was taken aback but I already knew it was going to be expensive. In the end, it is a VERY specialized process. My wife and I continued working on more pressing renovations and decided we would give it some more time. We waited and waited. Ramon called me to let me know they were getting booked up very quickly, but I told him we were still on the fence. One day, I see a request for wood floor refinishing on NextDoor and two people quickly recommend RED. I got nervous. When we finally had a concrete move-in date, I spoke to Ramon and he penciled us in. I told him that we will be going with the satin oil-based poly instead of the water-based simply because of the price. He said, "no problem, I totally understand". Before they started, Armando and Ramon came by to drop off some replacement boards they needed to acclimate to our home's environment, yes, they even think of that as the pros that they are. Obviously, my wife and I asked even more questions. We made it very clear that we were against the yellow undertone from the previously applied lacquer. They quickly recommended the water-based polyurethane to get the wood color and matte look we were looking for. We said we would think about it. The day came and the crew quickly got to work. Ramon kept me in the loop for everything. He asked me to come by so I could see the progress myself. After a single day, the floors looked completely different, so smooth, so rich in natural wood color, that was not even half of the process. Ramon explained that the wood had been resurfaced many times before and had very little life left. He showed me many examples and explained why we could see the nails in some area, he even explained what that does with the finish, very glad he mentioned it. He assured me that we will get a lot of use out of them but next time, it will have to be a very light sand and recoat. They sanded, ripped out bad boards, laid new ones, sanded some more, and then, you guessed it, sanded even more. The process was extensive. The dust. The dust was everywhere. But not like you would expect. Ramon and the crew worked with the upmost thoughtfulness and picked up a ton. He did warn me there would be dust, but their machines picked up most of it. This is an inevitable consequence of the process, but it really is not that bad, it was easy to clean up. NOTHING like tile and drywall work. I called Ramon and said we wanted the water-based coat and he told me we would not regret it. He was right. During the coating process, Ramon and the team are VERY strict with people being in the house, the A/C off, and only necessary movement to prevent anything from sticking to the coating. When it was all done, the floor looked completely transformed. My wife and I could not believe it, it was beautiful and natural looking. What wood floors are supposed to look like. The photos do NOT do it justice. Ramon also supplied us with Bona commercial cleaner, applicator, and felt furniture pads, yes, that is a very fine touch. We followed all the recommendations: kept shoes off the floor for about 2 weeks, only dry cleaning with the applicator, no rugs for 30 days, and felt pads on EVERYTHING. Ramon seriously warns that the first 30 days are crucial in keeping the finish undisturbed as much as possible. In the end, it is probably the best dollar spent because it is something you see and use every single day. Not to mention that everyone loves the floors. We even had them take the Florida Pine handrail and refinish it so it could all be harmonious. IN SUMMARY: RED is phenomenal, they are professionals, take their work very seriously, know what they are talking about, guide you in what is best for you and your budget, and are worth every penny. They definitely under promise and over-deliver.
