I got her as a…read more9 month old puppy, and she immediately made short shrift of my entire, 25-year-old (pretty rotted) perimeter fence. Not a small job, and an emergency one, because she LOVED running around the neighbors' yards. Lucian and his Dad braved the elements on extremely short notice, and built an entire new fence (mostly in the rain) for a great price. They gave me lots of upgrades, like unknotted wood, and thicker footers, and were incredibly fast and efficient. Its beautiful. That should have been enough, but - no - then my about six months later my back neighbors got their own Bernadoodle puppy, and the two dogs decided they didn't want a fence, so my pitty figured out how to pound her head against the boards until they bowed, then get her jaws on the wood, and tear through it. Lucian agreed that metal roof panels attached to the back fence would probably work (either that or an electric cattle fence), so he and his son came back out with the panels, cut them to fit, and spent a day attaching them, which - it turns out - is not as easy as it sounds. Again, quick service and excellent value. This family business, NW Modern, is fantastic, and I highly recommend them. And yes - it appears the metal roof panels are working!

They are one of very few companies that do BOTH wood and metal fencing. MOST IMPORTANT: They were great communicators, very professional, easy to work with and overdelivered in terms of quality and attention to detail. We got three bid and their price was the best and the work was outstanding. I would go right to this company and don't even consider anyone else. Great experience all around! Lucien is a stud!

Bruce was very responsive when we reached out in June for estimates on our deck replacements. His…read moreestimate was affordable and we felt assured when he came out to see the project as he commented on what was required according to code (apparently our dilapidated decks were not compliant and none of the other contractors we consulted with made mention of this). Bruce confirmed his availability for install beginning in late October at that time and we coordinated via email as that time approached. Bruce and his team do very great, thorough work. They were all very friendly and trustworthy. We are very pleased with our deck replacements and the dry rot pieces they both identified and replaced on our front support columns. Bruce also hung up our new address numbers for us at the conclusion of the project, which was a big help for us! We did not receive an invoice until the very end of the project (after 3 of 4 payments were made), but did receive one nonetheless. Despite this, we don't have any concern about Bruce and his team coming out to repair anything that should arise. Though, we don't expect that to happen based on the quality work they provided. Their focus is on their craft, not the administrative pieces of the business. I highly recommend Shaffer & Sons and will keep Bruce's contact information should we, our friends, or family members require any work completed in the future.

Updated Review: While my initial experience with this…read morecompany was frustrating and left me questioning their reputation, I have to commend the way they ultimately handled the situation. The owner personally reached out to me--even while overseas--to listen to my concerns and make things right. Both he and the project manager communicated clearly and professionally the second time around, and they addressed all of the issues I raised within a week. The craftsmanship was corrected, the cleanup concerns were taken seriously, and I appreciated their willingness to own the missteps and follow through quickly. Not every project goes perfectly, but how a company responds makes all the difference--and in this case, they really stepped up. I'm happy to give them a full five stars for the way they resolved everything.

He was quick to set up a time to come out, review the site, and provide a detailed and descriptive estimate for the project. He even walked through and pointed out different items that I hadn't thought about in options for my fencing needs. He was great at communicating whether it was on phone, text, or email. I appreciated the great communication during the project as well. The fencing was done by a father-son team, and they were efficient, diligent, and did a high quality job. The entire job took three days which was fantastic considering it was four different households whose fences were affected. I would definitely recommend using them and would use them again in the future.

Three different locations on our property at a total of about 230 feet of fencing demoed and rebuild with gates and painted by his ace painter, Ivan. We're really happy with his professional acumen, flexibility and willingness to get our business and make sure we are happy with the results. I had reached out to several fence contractors, but Juan responded immediately and gave me the answer I was looking for, which was an honest one: he couldn't tell me how much the job would cost without seeing it in person. I respect that. Juan came out punctually the next morning to give me an estimate. He immediately pointed out a couple of reasons why our decrepit gate and fence was failing and offered two solutions that would ensure that the replacements were durable and functional. He offered fair pricing which included hauling away the old materials. Within a couple of hours he had emailed a professional and clear estimate. Two days later, Juan and his crew arrived a few minutes earlier than scheduled to get started on our project. Each team member was very professional, clean, and fast- they worked together so quietly it almost seemed as if they had an unspoken way of communicating with each other. This was really appreciated since the work was being done just outside of our home office where my husband was on several meetings that morning. When the project was done, my husband and I were very impressed with the quality of the work and materials. Juan had called me an hour after his crew left to ensure that we were satisfied with the job. I got an estimate from him for some more work we need to get done in the future, we'll definitely hire him again! If you want a reliable, experienced, and professional contractor to build, fix, or repair your fence call Juan. Each step of the way he was great at communicating with me via text, email, and phone. It's always great to have a contractor I enjoy working with to add to my contacts.

Since it is a large deck on a on a slope, we knew it was not something we could do ourselves. After listening to our hopes and ideas, they developed a couple concepts for us to consider before we settled on a plan. After we agreed on the concept Victor and John came and gave us their appraisal and bid in a very timely manner. Although they had other projects before us, they began gathering materials and doing the new foundations for the new deck in early November. Although cost does enter the picture, they were fair in their understanding of our goals and needs and stayed on our agreed upon budget. Their requests for a deposit and funds along the way were reasonable. When we needed an additional week for the funds to come into our accounts as additional materials were ordered and delivered, they understood and continued the work. It was easy to communicate with them through person to person, phone calls, e-mails and/or texts. We decided to go with the Rocky Harbor Trex design and watched each day as the project progressed until it was done. Even with the November winds and rain, they showed up and worked throughout each day. Their work ethic and skills are second to none! When it was done, the new deck exceeded our expectations not only for the design, but also the stability, their professionalism, keeping us informed throughout the process, and their understanding of the many questions we had along the way. The photos below show the end product that we are looking forward to using more in the coming days. A definite 5 Star Review and recommendation!

I have worked with Pete Popa at Legacy Decks and Fence for over 15 years and on several properties…read more Pete is dependable and honest. Most importantly, he stands behind his work. He has built three different types of decks on my current property and all of them are of top quality and built to last. The first deck Pete built for me was to replace a cedar deck attached to my home. He used Brazilian Hardwood, or IPE, because of its durability and low maintenance qualities. The picture is current of a deck that was built 14 years ago. The second deck he built was around my Koi pond and we chose Trex decking to go over existing structure. This deck is 13 years old and as attractive as the day it was built. The third deck he built was a few months ago. The deck it replaced was cedar and I wanted to replicate what was there because it lasted so well. Pete used pressure treated beams stringers. Any cuts in the wood was painted with a protective treatment that is necessary when such wood is cut and the raw wood is exposed. The cedar boards were stained on all sides prior to being laid into place. I expect this deck to last for thirty years. Pete is also excellent with fence replacement. My pressure treated wood deck was replaced with a metal fence over 14 years ago and still looks new. No problems with posts or material to date. Lastly, Pete built a retaining wall at the edge of my property. It was built to be maintained and corrected, should the ground shift and require adjustments. The crew at Legacy Decks and fence are very easy to deal with and Pete ensures that all work is up to his standards. I can't speak highly enough about the quality of the work. And the test of time has proven the durability to me.
