This is one of my favorite places for take-out. Whether I order the boneless spare ribs or the coconut chicken, I am never disappointed. It's always pretty good food. The coconut flavored sauce on the chicken is almost like a glaze but still delicious. I ordered plain lo mein with the combo ($1 up charge). The noodles were great. I just wish you could add veggies to them. Their crab rangoon are top tier. They are not skimpy on the filling and the filling is sweet and savory how I like. This spot is a hole in the wall sandwiched between a strip of businesses in park slope. I was attracted by the lunch combo special which is available all day and stopped by for a quick bite after the gym. For $4 you get rice and one entree. The lady was courteous enough to top off the sesame chicken with some broccoli. Taste was pretty standard typically chinese. The rice was fresh and the food was hot so that is good. Holly best deal in all 5 boroughs bat man!!! This place is the cheap food dream. Not since the dollar menu has a food spot helped America keep moving . I always get the standard with white rice. This ensures that I can enjoy the flavor of the dish. Pro tip, fried rice makes everything taste like fried rice. If you want to gain the respect of your local Chinese spot order everything with white rice. Seriously, this place is great. The standard is a big helping of rice, fried rice, or noodles with four main dishes. It like a buffet style but you get one serving and can't take seconds. I use the one meal for two. The cleanliness of the establishment could be improved for sure, and I feel like the quality is lacking, considering they are also on the more pricey side of Chinese takeout, I wouldn't recommend going here. Have gotten take out from here a couple times - is relatively affordable - and the food is ok. The rice dishes and broccoli/meat is like standard American Chinese food - on the greasier side but still tastes decent. The fried food (whether it's fried chicken or shrimp) is way too fried. Got the hankering for Chinese food yesterday and decided to give Empire Express a shot. Beef and broccoli combo and a General Tso's Chicken fit the bill. Delivery was quick, and my food arrived still hot. Overall, the food was okay. Orange chicken was tasty, though could've been crispier. The plain lo mein was adequate, but I thought the fried rice tasted like dirty oil or petroleum products. Beef and broccoli was a highlight, would recommend for sure. The egg drop soup was not quite what I'd hoped for, and the egg roll did not taste fresh. I'm still on the hunt for the best American Chinese food in South Brooklyn, and hopefully someday I'll find the eatery of my dreams. Stuck in the area for 45 minutes waiting on a local merchant.... So lunch seemed in order. I found lots of options on Yelp and saw myself heading down a rabbit hole of what to get.... I was literally standing in front of this Chinese takeout/buffet and took a chance. So... I didn't get sick, that's a plus and what was I expecting for $8.00 including tax. Some of the items weren't bad but overall the food lacked any distinction of taste as well as being overly greasy. My sugar addiction enjoyed the boneless ribs. I questioned whether the chicken was real. The broccoli had better days. However, the woman at the counter was pleasant and efficient, I received a big portion that was very affordable and the food served its purpose well... did I mention I didn't get sick? Was next door getting a face lift (read that as eyebrows threaded) and came out really hungry. NB I went in really hungry. This shop was right next door so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the $5.75 five combo steam plate. I chose rice, sesame chicken, some type of beef, an order of dumplings (2) and bakchoy. After my first bite I thought this stuff is really great! You know how it goes when you're famished and food hits your palate? After 3 or 4 mouthfuls reality set in. "It isn't really that good is it Freeyah" my brain asked my mouth. "Not really" mouth and even tummy responded. Aestherics aside (yeah you kinda SEE what you're in for) location wise it's convenient, right there on a main street where they're all usually located. The sesame chicken and general tso sauce are rich, the chicken is flavorful, not dry, and has the perfect amount of crunch. I love the crab rangoon and egg drop soup as well. It's a measure of caloric density per dollar if you will... and let me tell you, at $6.50 for their 4 item combo + lo mien, Empire Express gives you the best price performance in the market! If you eat that combo all in one sitting, you're a pig! No! You're a pig stuffed with a fatted calf, ripe for slaughter. It's properly two meals... easily. There are world hunger problems that can be solved by that $6.50 combo. And hey... it tastes just fine. I dare you to find better price performance anywhere in this neighborhood. I really like their lo mein. It is cheap and delicious. They have sriracha sitting out for your dousing pleasure. I tried their dumplings once. They were kind of weird, especially doughy, but not unpleasant. The price is right there, and the taste is the best I have found in comparing all the similarly divey Chinese joints in the general area. I will for sure get food from them again... This is my go-to Chinese takeout spot and they always deliver. I usually stop by to get the shrimp with lobster sauce and general tso's chicken. Takes a while to get my order so it probably (I hope) means the food is freshly prepared. Their egg rolls are bomb too. All in all a great reliable joint. read more

A box full of food that can usually last me three meals. :) The selection here is pretty good and usually fresh. You have your standard dishes such as sesame chicken, beef with broccoli, etc, but they also have some more authentic vegetable dishes such as tofu with veges, peppered shrimp with veges, and sautéed bok choy. I'm wavering between a two-star or three-star review here. On the one hand: delivery arrived hot and on-time, driver was pleasant, and the food seemed freshly prepared. The problem? The items we ordered were waaay off from the menu descriptions. Sweet and sour pork is supposedly "Lightly battered with pineapple, onions, and bell peppers tossed in sweet and sour sauce." Nope - we got one container of battered pork, one container of sauce, and no pineapple or veggies to be seen. Plain fried rice is listed as "Fried white rice with soy sauce, eggs, peas, carrots and green onions." We paid $1.50 extra to upgrade from white or brown rice, and what came was a container of slightly oily yellow rice. Again, no veggies anywhere. The cashew chicken had the opposite problem: it was not, in fact, "stir-fry chicken breast in a house wine sauce, top with crunchy cashews." Well, it was maybe 40% that, 10% carrots, and the remaining 50% was celery. None of which were included in the menu description. The only thing that actually resembled the menu was the Kung-pao chicken, which was basically the exact same thing as the cashew chicken but with the nuts swapped to peanuts and a slightly spicier sauce. So none of the food was bad or cold or inedible - it just also wasn't what we ordered. Fix the menu or fix the food. read more

For an outside of Chinatown quick Chinese food fix this place is okay. I opted for the 4 choices with lomein or rice from the steam table. The boneless spareribs were the most flavorful of my 4 item choices. The lo-mein that came with the meal was bland as were most of my other dishes. What can I say about affordable quick delivery Chinese? I've been struggling to find a decent "cheap Chinese" spot for a while now that delivers to my apartment and I like to think that this place hits it for me. Affordable and a great menu selection. I love that they have combo plates because I definitely hate ordering a big order of meat and then a big order of noodles that I just want to eat in one day as opposed to 3. I like that they have a good list of appetizers which is what I always look for. I dig it. Pretty good. I went late at night so I missed the buffet, which seems to be pretty good. I ordered the sesame chicken and brown rice. The portion was a good size and the chicken was better than I expected. Usually I'm very hesitant to try Asian take-out here because I hate soggy, grisly, rubbery, or fatty chicken which I find a lot of. I ordered from that and got a soda, friend rice, and general tso's chicken for that much money. That's a pretty good deal, especially since the general tso's was good. This place is excellent. The Special/Combo might be the cheapest meal in Park Slope and it's good and you can even make it kind of healthy.

Pretty staple Chinese delivery food. Significantly cheaper than some of the surrounding Chinese places. The delivery took the exact amount of time stated on seamless (45 min), the food was hot and fresh tasting. They also really listened to my special requests (all white meat chicken in the General Tso's chicken, light on the oil in the Mei Fun). The only annoying thing was that they called me twice and said that the delivery guy was outside, but he wasn't... So they must have had the wrong number. read more
