This is a small partially manned gym that is open late and opens early…read more Pros-the owner is very nice and it is very much a family business. The machines work well and everything is very clean. I don't do classes but there is very much a community vibe to the classes and silver sneaker members. The treadmills and elliptical machines are newer and in good shape. They have a good selection of weight machines. Cons- Being manned part time it can be hard to get in touch with ownership and often they aren't there during the times that they post where it is supposed to be manned. No showers, just a small changing area. The selection of equipment in the free weight area is strange- they have 2 smith machines, 2 curl wedges and 2 chest press machines that you load weights onto. No normal bench press or squat racks or row equipment. The machines are nice but free weight area is pretty sad which is strange because you'd think it would be cheaper. All in all a very nice gym that could be perfect if it had a little bit better free weight equipment.

After falling in love with aerial yoga in Toronto, I had all but lost hope of finding a place to…read morepractice close to home. Sure studios have popped up in CT here and there, but none of them were within a reasonable distance. That is, until Shine was born! I was lucky enough to secure a spot in an evening aerial class during the week (these classes are popular!), so I dragged myself off the couch and couldn't have been happier about it. There is a welcoming front desk upon entering, and moving back into the space you'll find two separate yoga studios, a bathroom (with shower) and cubbies for storing your things during class. The instructor Erica was very thorough and helpful but also really fun. She made sure that the silks were the right height before we began and then after demonstrating the poses, she walked around checking that everyone was safe in the silk and properly aligned. My muscles were incredibly happy with both the yummy stretches and the upper body and core strength needed to get into or go deeper into the postures. The stretches and savasana in the silk were the perfect ending to such a fun and challenging but incredibly grounding class. After such a great experience, I can't wait to try the other yoga classes offered!

They offer fantastic Yin Yoga and Aerial Yin (phenomenal!) which is actually hard to find. Additionally, there is regular Aerial Yoga which is great for cardio, abdominal and upper body. There's also traditional mat yoga which is great for strength training as well. Pricing is also really affordable. Unlimited classes for 35$ in the first month. The easiest thing is to sign up online and then sign up for classes through there. I would definitely recommend you reserve a spot online because some classes are super popular. I love that you don't even have to bring any of your own equipment as long as you clean it afterwards. Seriously Shine Studio, thank you so much for existing.

Back-to-School Fun at CORTIVA Institute!…read more Today I brought my kids to the CORTIVA Institute Massage Therapy School for their annual Back-to-School event, and what an amazing experience! They were offering FREE services for the kids and families, including hair styling, braiding, barber services, nails, massages, face painting, mini facials, and more! ‍‍ I absolutely love seeing organizations in our community come together to help families get ready for the new school year. And the best part is that they do this every year! My kids got their hair cuts and left feeling fresh and ready for back to school! Thank you, CORTIVA Institute, and everyone who volunteered their time and talents to make this event possible. Community support like this means so much!
