Emm is a truly passionate, dedicated person and cares about each and every person that walks into her studio. I can say this from personal experience as I have watched her over the past 3 years guide so many people to a healthier, happier life. Not only that, she constantly hosts charity events, special runs, and works with the Norwalk Hospital Foundation and Cancer Society, etc. to help raise money and awareness. I highly disagree with her moves being hard to follow, and in any case, she ALWAYS offers for people to stay after class to be helped as well as slowing down DURING class and counting out steps and INSTRUCTING the new choreography before even starting the new songs. That being said, everyone has their own style, you may not fit well with a certain person's zumba style, and may totally groove with another person. Everyone has a right to their opinions, BUT remember, your workout is what YOU make of it. Even in some fitness classes that I personally did not love myself, you can always get a good sweat in if you push yourself. You don't have to love every class you take, and thats ok! I'm just happy to be part of such a caring and genuine community of people at Studio M, at the end of the day that's what matters most. Thank you Emm for showing us that! Zumba has become such a phenomenon and has shown us all how a little bit of dancing can help the world become a happier place. She is NOT encouraging, but instead makes you feel like you're an idiot if you can't follow her crazy moves. She's not flexible nor does she offer deals to the most loyal of customers. Now, there are other instructors there who are absolutely wonderful...Naomi, Jimmy, Stephanie to name a few. They rock. Totally rock. But stay away from Emm's classes if you go. There are other Zumba fitness studios in town, and well worth visiting before heading to Studio M.

I've taken both their Bands and their Dance classes and they are legitimately hard. Their instructors are upbeat, the music is great and the choreography is on point, which is what keeps me coming back! But if you are a beginner and/or are working on getting in shape, you likely will be very discouraged by these classes. I'm giving 4 stars because of the following: -I'm used to fitness classes where the instructors will offer modifications for certain exercises, but haven't found that to be the case at AKT. -No designated changing area (I have to awkwardly change clothes in the bathroom stall) -The lockers are really tiny and don't fit much of your stuff. We had such an incredible first experience that we have been coming back every week for more lessons. Our instructor Dusan is very talented, patient, and enthusiastic. That was a year and a half ago, and now I can't stop. Sanja transformed me from someone who could barely step onto the dance floor into a confident dancer who has now participated in three dance competitions and a showcase, with more planned. The real challenge comes during the practice parties where you dance with your fellow students. But the studio has fostered a wonderful community of students who encourage and support each other even when you are stepping all over their feet. I was just told that she is not welcome to join in the dance recital after investing in the class for 8 months, paying for the recital costume/recital photos and her time! Flashpointe dance fed into every reason why my family encouraged me not to put my daughter in ballet. They expect perfect 3 year olds. My 3 year old ran in class and was recently kicked out of class twice. Then i received an email that she was a danger to other kids and to herself for running so she was asked not to participate in the final recital. No offers to give private lessons, no flexibility and no compassion. My 3 year old is really upset and they have crushed her spirit and mine. To make things worse, grandparents bought plane tickets to come and see this recital. She could not make the rehearsal due to a vacation we planned 6 months ago. They just told us about the rehearsal just a few weeks ago!!! This place is incredibly disorganized, unprofessional and their expectations for 3 year olds is frankly ridiculous. Flashpointe dance- you may brag to everyone that you have a dancer on a major television show but you could care less about my 3 year old or any other imperfect 3 year old who loves to dance. Despite the way you treated my daughter, she still loves to dance and we will find a friendlier, less intense environment.
