This morning was their recital. The older kids did a ballet using the music and telling the story of the Wizard of Oz. The choreography was sensitive and obviously put together with a great deal of professionalism. Some of the older girls, in my humble opinion, seemed to have attained to a level of professionalism as well. I think that the recital, itself, provided a vision to the younger kids and their parents just to what level, they could attain, if they so chose. Of course, the choreography was appropriately suited for each age group. But I must admitted that my granddaughter stole the show.

Last week, I dropped in to check out the Bead Couture, mainly to see if they could fix a broken…read morepart on a bracelet. I called ahead and asked and was told that they do repair jewelry. The week prior I saw someone working with beads at The Art Center and asked about her project. She was making a dress for a wedding. I asked if she made repairs and did not, but referred me to the Bead Couture. I offered my bracelet to see if she could fix it. I tried many times, with no sustainable success. It was time for a professional or at least someone who has the tools, which she did. I waited while she worked on the bracelet. And in a few short minutes, it was like a got a new piece of jewelry. While It is of no great monetary value, I like it. Take your broken pieces of jewelry and let them fix it or redesign it. There are lovely contemporary pieces that are designed by the owner and there is a large catalog of vintage buttons and other gems that you must check out. I love the instructors here. It's a no frills pool school. It's really just a giant pool under a…read moretype of tent. I had my daughter here for a 2 week 4day program and I could definitely see her confidence and abilities improve! She loves coming here. Also, you need to have goggles for them here. I mention that because in TX, where we're from, they didn't necessarily need them until they were in competitive swimming. Oh and another tip, it's inside that big Green dome type tent enter on the right. Restrooms are in the adjacent building in the locker rooms. I didn't know all that.

Update: We had to take almost a year off of swim lessons as my youngest child hadn't yet turned 3…read more(age minimum for group classes) and I couldn't keep him out of the pool! At the time of this update, we have been back at swim lessons with all three kids for two months now and I'm just as happy if not more so than my first review. This is QUALITY swim education for kids. Long enough to help them make serious progress but short enough not to tax the attention span of a child. The new instructors are amazingly patient and kind. Ms Bethany is a fantastic coach, Martha is amazing as always and every week I watch avidly as my kids light bulbs go on and they master new skills. Best ever! My twins (3.5 years old) have been instructed at level 1/2 (toddlers) here for a month now. It's twice a week for 30 min each lesson. Mr. Skyler is their coach and we will be requesting him or Ms. Martha for every month long session that I have them signed up for until he has zero reservations. This program far surpasses any other instruction we've had them in since they were six months old. It beats the YMCS hands down. My son in particular was really afraid of the water to the point where he hated baths or showers and it became a stress beyond imagining. The first two sessions he was coaxed into the water with tand no allowance at all was made for his fear. It was just...ignored. And it was the BEST thing ever. He lived up to their expectations of performance and now he looks forward to swim class and doesn't hesitate to get in and while he might still have some fears, it doesn't show that much. This last class, he jumped from the side of the pool into the instructors' arms with glee, and he even goes underwater at their say so. I cannot rate them highly enough. While not every instructor we've had is experienced enough to get through my sons' barriers, they are ALL extremely nice and in a little while, those barriers will disappear and we will take any instructor that's available. We plan to continue at this school for as long as the children are still learning and loving it!

I have gotten many tattoos done but this was my first one in Memphis and Shine was able to complete the tattoo while we had an engaging conversation with tons of jokes. I felt safe and comfortable and I look forward to telling my friends about his location downtown and returning when I get my next inspiration.
