school sucks! gives you bare minimum. teaches you just enough to pass your test. level one is mostly book work with a few practicals here and there. level 2 is hell & you don't learn much at all. I was very disappointed. level 3 was a free for all. No one cares if you know what you are doing, you are given clients & get no notice of a booking until the morning of and most of the time get no help with their service & are left to figure it out yourself. no one checks your work when you are done.
just a few things you should know if you plan to sign up for school here.
1. they don't care about how to make anything easier or better.
2. admin are all friends of friends of friends
3. even if the teachers want to restructure things, write people up, try to actually do their jobs, they get no support from administrators
4. the school is filthy all the time. it only appears clean
5. you do assignments that you don't get grades for and you are given grades for assignments you didn't even get taught. whatever looks good for them on paper.
6. if you complain, you are a problem, if you make a suggestion to make things easier or better you are brushed off and ignored.
7. by the end your spirit is crushed & your motivation nonexistent
8. admin needs to be cleaned out and some new people & structure put into place because the current doesn't get anything done
9. the school color and lightener is subpar. very few times it even do what you need it to do. the color washes out quickly, the lightener doesn't lift.
10. there are not enough products you have to choose from to use on clients. 2 hair sprays for the whole floor.... same for other products.
11. no product knowledge is taught so you have to figure out what products work for what and it's hard to sell products without knowledge.
12. the shampoo bowls are shit!! half of them don't work, the water doesn't stay hot or cold, the chairs don't even line up with the bowls so the clients shirts are always wet & it's hard to get the neckline. also, the bowls don't drain half the time.
13. students are given chores like laundry and trash. so on top of having clients during the day, & cleaning up after yourself, you also have to remember to switch laundry if that happens to be your chore.
14. the school is always out of supplies, they run out of nail supplies, foil, processing caps, styling products, shampoo & conditioner, & even the correct developer for the lightener.
15. the cleaning crew doesn't clean. the school is always nasty. the breakrooms, microwaves, refrigerator, are never actually cleaned. bathroom, even the floors are never clean. there is dust on everything, the toilet seats are falling off, there are nasty toilet brushes in the corners of the bathroom stalls, the soap dispensers are broken, the corners are all filthy, & even the brackets that attach the bathroom stalls to the walls have an inch of dust on them.
16. the front desk doesn't schedule correctly, they are rude & on their phones all day. the product shelves are always dusty.
17. if you are in cos, they refuse to let you work on nails, or skin. even if someone requests you, so you don't get to earn your practicals for those things.
I could keep going but you get the picture. No structure, the admin doesn't do their jobs, the teachers get no support, the students beg to learn and are shot down if it requires any effort on the staffs part. The school is dirty, half ass stocked. & if I had it to do over I would have gone to Paul Mitchell!
