Took a crazy long bike ride from Van Cortland Park and ended up catching lunch here. The ambiance…read moreis cozy chill vibes with a lazy Sunday feel with hints of great sandwich culture. Their sandwiches are toasted on this great panini like bread and you definitely leave feeling full. The staff are friendly and was patient while I looked over the menu. I ended up getting the brisket sandwich which came with a bag of chips (around $16). I love how this area is located in this quaint village of hastings on Hudson. The food was very tasty. The brisket sandwich had succulent meat that fell apart amid a bed of cheddar and a honey barbecue sauce. The portions to me are kinda big so I ate half for lunch and the other for dinner.

After being greeted with a smile by Antonio one of the twin brothers who own the shop I ordered. The owners can't be nicer and show a real love of food. My wife got an eggplant wrap with roasted red peppers and I got the Roast Beast a roastbeef on garlic chiabatta, both were delicious. The eggplant paper thin and the housemade roastbeef rare and super tender. The sandwiches were very large, but after eating half we both continued to eat the whole sandwich. I also had their potato salad and this had the right consistency and seasoning. They also have some nice desserts, some homemade some from good sources. I asked about their breakfast being good, "i am making homemade English muffins for the morning" The tiny space with a few tables has Italian products that are well chosen breadsticks, pasta, etc. Oh the sandwiches come with your choice of flavors. We are no longer skeptical and will be back soon.

This one is not a fun one to write. So my father was having lunch at Liebman's Yonkers on February…read more11th, after my recommendation to go there based on my great experiences with the original location in the Bronx. He and his friend both enjoyed the food (although he made sure to mention that it wasn't nearly as good as Katz's, which I completely agree with). He thought that the restaurant itself was clean and nice enough. But then the fun part happened. He tried to tip 20% on his lunch bill, asking the waiter to round to the total from the $50 check to $60 total The waiter decided that meant adding a $60 TIP to the order and running the credit card at $110 for their lunch. Simple mistake, maybe. We apparently will never know, because Liebman's has never called back after two different attempts to speak with management to rectify the situation. We were told that there was no manager there twice, but assured that we would receive a call back shortly. Nothing, apparently. Is Liebman's an establishment that targets the elderly and figures that they can get away with it because sometimes people don't look at what they're signing. Who knows? Not me, because no-one from Liebman's decided that it was important to return multiple calls to figure that out. So, IF you go to this place, please check your bill and then check it again, because once you leave the restaurant, they seem to have no desire to explain why they charged you a 120% tip (or even attempt to keep you as a customer) Bonus fact: I waited three weeks to post this to give them every chance to do the right thing and have a manager reply.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't drive 45 minutes to Nyack specifically to visit this cheese shop…read morebecause of a video I saw on social media, but I absolutely did & it was a great decision. Scott & Joe is coined "the gayest cheese shop in America" & while I haven't surveyed all of the other cheese shops in America, I agree. It's a quaint little shop tucked amongst other small shops on Broadway. Scott is behind the fully stocked cheese case serving & SERVING with a smile. He was patient while we perused the case & asked questions. We sampled some cheeses to figure out what we like & what we didn't & ended up leaving with some yummy treats. Scott & Joe also have a little bit of a marketplace with delicious options of cured meats, crackers, jams, jellies, mustards & the like: perfect for any dinner party or snack plate. In my opinion, the best part is a not so secret little bistro section in the back where you can have a seat & be served some of the most delicious sandwiches, salads, & cheeseboards in the Hudson Valley. I got the Ciao Bella this time around, but it was hard to choose because I wanted them all! Everything was so fresh & delicious - I can't wait to return! Scott & Joe also hold various events regularly, so I recommend following them on Instagram to stay in the loop.
