I am Hispanic and I can certify that these empanadas hit every mark. I am used to having the usual flavors of empanada, so I opted for something that was more of a cultural fusion local to the area, meaning of course I had to get the weirdest one. Empanola is such a cute little spot! The space is on the smaller side, but it still has plenty of room to sit down and enjoy your food comfortably. The cashier greeted me immediately and was helpful with any questions I had regarding the menu. I ordered a six-pack of empanadas for $27 (otherwise it's usually $4.95 each), and they definitely do not skimp on the ingredients. Every empanada was stuffed to the brim, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. I tried two Argentine Beef, Ham & Queso, Asian Dumpling, Gumbo, and Peruvian Chicken. And honestly every single one was delicious in its own way. The drink I got the Honey Bun Latte, they use torani syrups so I'm familiar with the flavors. It was sweet, cozy, and paired perfectly with the meal. Imo, way better than the typical honey bun lattes that I pride in the past. The Gumbo is extremely hearty; Shrimp Etoufee is thick, flavorful like a portable soup and the Shrimp and Cheese is bursting with cheese which reminds me of a white cheese pizza. Hey Yelpers! We found this great little spot while walking through the French Quarter, on St. Ann near Jackson Square. They have an amazing selection of empanadas at a really great price. We tried the chorizo, crawfish étouffée, Asian dumpling, and apple & pecan empanadas. We enjoyed them all and would order the again, except for the étouffée. I wanted to try it (never had étouffée before) and I'm sure it tasted great. Just wasn't my thing. They also have a selection of coffee drinks, sodas, water, and even protein drinks. As for the service, they are fast and friendly. At one point they had multiple people in one and got them all taken care of and on their way very quickly. Empanola is an unassuming joint that is perfect for a hearty snack or meal. It appears to be mainly designed for grab and go, however, there are a couple tables if you want to sit down. I was impressed by the array of empanadas with New Orleans and Latin inspired fillings. It was overwhelming to decide, so the front counter guy kindly walked us through the menu and his personal favorites. I tried the Chilean beef, chicken Peruvian, crawfish etouffee, caprese, and gumbo empanadas (listed in order of my favorites). I was blown away by quality/freshness of the filings and the rich flavor profiles. The exterior of the empanada was a nice thickness and kept together without being too crisp. Based on one of our tour guides recommendation we decided to try this place for a midday snack. We tried the Argentinian, shrimp and cheese, muffuletta, Chilean, guava and cheese, and apple empanadas. Hands down the savory empanadas were our favorite. Super flavorful and the chimichurri sauce just adds to the experience. I really wanted to like the guava and cheese empanada but the cheese is not cream cheese and I just couldn't get past the texture of the chunks of cheese mixed with the guava. These empanadas are made SO FRESH. The outside is amazingly crispy and inside is stuffed with hot goodness. There's so many different options available!! You HAVE to try the guava cheese. At first I wasn't sure how cheese and guava would really be together but the inside was mostly deliciously sweet guava jam. This was our favorite. This was one of the best things I ate on my recent trip to New Orleans, but do know that I am a picky eater with special dietary needs. I found this online prior to my trip and immediately added it to my list of places to eat. There are a few locations and I debated going to more than one of them. I only made it here once, but wanted to go back many more times. It looks like this might be a very small franchise, I will definitely go again if I ever run across this somewhere else. I loved it. There is not a lot of seating, a teeny bit more is available outside, it is not as fast as you would think it would be. It does seem like it can get pretty crowded fast, but this food is very portable and would be easy to take to eat on the go. I tried the 2 vegan options, the yellow curry and the impossible, I could eat the impossible version once a week for the rest of my life. My non veg partner was also very impressed, he loved that they had empanada version of New Orlean's food, he could not stop talking about the crawfish etouffee. He acknowledges that he would have eaten here many more times as there were a ton of other things he would like to try. I do wish they had some kind of vegan version of a New Orlean's food. I really appreciate that the emapandas are stamped with the name of what it is, this way you never have to worry about biting into the wrong one. I really enjoyed the chimichurri sauce as well, if I ever go again I will definitely get some extras to go and keep these as a snack for my hotel room. read more

Quick and tasty food for on the go! We weren't planning on stopping here, but I'm glad we did. This spot had a heavy flow of people ordering to go. It is fairly cramped inside, so eating in is probably not the way to go. There were at least 20 options, but I went with the yellow curry option and absolutely loved how robust the flavor profile was, and how hot and crispy my empanada was. I was able to wrap it in a napkin and eat it as I continued on in my journey. Ordering was easy and I was able to use a credit card even though I was only getting two items. Came here after seeing a couple of reviews and posts on Instagram and TikTok. They have a few locations and we opted for the one closest to us near Bourbon Street. We shared three empanadas: the muffaletta, the gumbo, and the étouffée. Hands-down, our favorite was the muffaletta! The gumbo resembled more of a stew, but the étouffée was exactly as I had imagined and really liked that one as well. I would probably skip the gumbo one in the future. It was late, and I was quite hungry, and found that this gem had two vegan empanadas options. I scurried in before they closed and got the Yellow Curry and Impossible empanadas, and they didn't disappoint. They were piping hot, seasoned very well, especially the curry, and was a cheap meal. April 8th is National Empanada Day, so it's only fitting that I honor this day with a review of Empanola. Empanadas originated in Galicia, Spain and now over 30 countries have their own version of this fried or baked pastry. While strolling through the French Quarter, I came across Empanola - a family-owned business with several locations in Louisiana. They offer a variety of empanadas with Latin-inspired, Louisiana-influenced fillings that are made fresh daily including vegan & vegetarian. The shop is small, with counter seating if you want to eat inside. There are also a few tables outside and a walk-up window as well. The lady behind the counter was friendly and chatted with all the customers. I ordered a Mushroom & Cheese ($4.75) and the Crawfish étouffée ($5.75) because I was feeling adventurous. I also requested one of each sauce: Cilantro Lime, Chimichurri, & Hot Sauce (.35 each). The empanadas are partially baked, and they finish baking them in a pizza oven so they are perfect when you bite into them. (You can also request to bake them at home.) Each one was generously stuffed, and the outer pastry had a good flavor that complimented the fillings. The Crawfish étouffée tasted authentic and actually contained crawfish. The Mushroom & Cheese was oozing with mozzarella & mushrooms. I enjoyed them both, and they were very filling. I could only eat half of each and saved the rest for the next day. They were just as good reheated. The sauces were tasty too. Empanola is a great place to stop in for an inexpensive snack or meal that you can also enjoy while on the go. The selection of empanadas has over 30 choices. We got the crawfish etauffee and the Asian dumplings. Both empanadas have very good flavor. I got the ice coffee and it is good too. It's a cute little empanada shop with a nice variety of flavors displayed right when you walk in. I tried the crawfish empanada on the spot, and it was surprisingly good! I also picked up a few frozen ones to take home -- the Beef Argentina, Asian Dumpling, and Muffuletta -- but those were a bit disappointing. While they had a generous amount of filling, the flavors just didn't stand out. The Muffuletta, in particular, had way too many olives for my taste and Asian dumpling could've used more seasoning. Before one of our excursions in town we decided to grab something quick and yummy. They offer a variety of different empanadas and they are served quickly and at the right temperature. They were nice and ready to eat! Deliciousness. We got the guava, buffalo, Argentinian, and pizza. The guava was decent nothing too crazy! Chicken buffalo was definitely flavorful and just right. Argentinian was alright it had an aftertaste to it, we wouldn't get it again. Now for the pizza it was definitely a whole lot better than any pizza pocket we have tried.
