When I found out there is a yelp listing for the empanada lady I was thrilled!!! Because let me tell you, this lady makes some amazing empanadas! And I'm all about supporting LOCAL women owned businesses! These locals work so hard to make ends meet. We need to ALL support these local vendors when we travel. This sweet lady walks on the beach and sells her delicious goods in her cute baskets. I didn't know who she was, just hungry on the beach lol. I AM SO GLAD I CAUGHT HER! They are only $4 each. I wish I ordered more than just one. Don't make my mistake lol - ORDER ATLEAST 2-3!!!! read more

Beach sellers can be annoying, but this was a GREAT find. Just as my husband I were going to throw in the towel and buy overpriced, gross hotel food, along came the Empanada Lady, offering fresh, hot, homemade empanadas! These were fantastic! We got 2 beef with a side of HOT sauce. They were flavorful and large enough to satisfy our hunger. If she comes by your beach chair, do yourself a favor and get a couple! read more

12/8/19 at 11:50AM: I found the infamous Empanada Lady!!!! We're on the beach right by the Marriott and had been looking for her for the past two days. She was well worth the wait! The empanadas are delicious and a great deal at 2 for $5 (chicken or beef). They are very flavorful and crispy! She's also so so sweet! We decided to go to the beach in Condado in hopes of finding the famous empanada lady. My children were SO excited when they spotted her within 30 minutes of us arriving. This sweet woman carries around insulated bags full of her delicious homemade chicken and beef empanadas. You get two for $5 and they're huge! I've heard that most people see her around the Marriott hotel but we saw her near the Earl St beach access. read more

Picture this.... The sun is shining, the waves are crashing and you have a pina colada in hand. You just spent 20 minutes greasing yourself up and now smell like a tropical oasis! You are good to go, right? Well the answer would be yes, thinking that there is absolutely nothing that could make this moment better... WRONG! Then you look over and see out of the corner of your eye, a lady walking around carrying two Las Vegas Marshall's bags... I know what you are thinking, probably the same thing I was when I saw it...Is the Marshall's within walking distance and how did I miss it? When you see this woman, RUN! Directly towards her, do not lose sight of her, do not even think twice about it, just grab some cash and RUN! In those bags, one over each of her shoulders, are the most delicious homemade empanadas, one shoulder is carrying beef while the other has chicken. They are made fresh, still warm (kept in insulated coolers hidden inside the Marshall's bags) and are by far one of my favorite things thus far on this trip. They are 2 for $5 and well worth experiencing! The crust is flaky and the fillings are full of flavor. It is hard to pick a favorite so I highly recommend one of each, and trust me... You are not going to want to share them. She was on the beach around 12/12:30, you can't miss her when she is there, but you certainly need to keep your eye out for her! I was blessed with the Empanada Lady's presence today. Best homemade empanadas I've ever had, hands down hardest working 85 year old I've ever met. Everyone on the beach got empanadas from her. I've been living on Condado Beach for 4 months and finally got to try her fabled Empanadas. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Empanadas lady on the beach! At first it seems very sketchy, selling empanadas out of marshals bags. But I gave it a shot, they were 2 for $5, not bad but I know you could probably get them cheaper elsewhere, paying for convenience! Two choices, chicken and beef. We'd of both! I liked the chicken, and my friend likes the beef, so definitely personal preference. Even the beach guys said this is pretty legit local food, they eat it. So if you want something other than hotel food, would definitely get the empanadas from this lady when she walks by! Also how can you say no to such a cute face! read more

Back in May 2016 my husband and I came to condado beach and saw the empanada lady. Much to my husbands dismay, I bought two empanadas. A few minutes later I allowed him to taste the deliciously flaky crust with the tasty meat and he began begging for my empanandas. She's like a rare unicorn and you must try to find her. So I was yelping restaurants in San Juan and noticed the empanada lady. I read all the great reviews and wanted to try some. If it weren't for the pictures I would never have found her! We were walking on the beach and as we turned around, there she was with her two bags selling empanadas to a couple! We bought one chicken and one beef and they were fantastic! Good old authentic home cooking! We walked along the beach while eating them and then decided we wanted more so we back tracked and found her again at a different hotel selling to another group. I cannot believe the strength this woman has at her age carrying around two heavy bags full with empanadas! God bless this woman! If you see her please try them, they're delicious! read more

My fiancee and I found her! On our first trip to Condado Beach, which happened to be on our 10th anniversary, we were able to find her within 5 minutes! We set our stuff down, and were able to get two chicken empanadas, and I am so happy we did! She is so friendly, and her empanadas are to die for! Don't let this nectar of the gods, empanada hustling abuela fool you into thinking that she's poverty stricken with a product as delicious as hers! She sold out of 2 Marshalls filled bags within an hour and most likely hoped into her Bentley and drove home. You have your choice of chicken or beef, with the better of the two options being chicken. They are homemade, fresh, juicy and great after a long day at the beach - don't miss out! read more

The pork loin was delicious as well, especially with the mushroom cream. Plantains are one of my favorite foods, and these tostones did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is beautiful.
