OMG, the service, the ambiance, the drinks, was all great! I highly recommend this place, but you have to be patient if you coming during a rush. Our food came out quick it was hot, and ready to eat. I had the cod with mofongo, it was delicious. Also the Grouper (Mero) was off the hook. ( no pon attended.) I had a great time . I'll definitely be back,

El Camarón enjoys a great location, near Condado and Miramar. It's a short ride away from Old San Juan as well. As such it's popular with both tourists and locals. Street parking in front, large parking lot in back. They open late. No outside seating. Large dining area, perfect for groups. Full bar. Dominican owned but serves mostly Puerto Rican fare, with a few Dominican staples like mangú. The few times I've eaten here I've walked out satisfied. They make good mofongo. I recently had the mofongo de pollo al ajillo (garlic sauce). The garlic sauce was very good.

This place is popular with locals and may have even seen a politician here on our visit. Ceviche, chicken soup, fried red snapper were all hits. Went twice over 5 days, Thanks!! :)

Wanted to love this authentic looking joint. Got the shrimp dish with garlic sauce, rice and beans on the side. Thinking I couldn't go wrong with the namesake dish (afterall, the restaurant is called The Shrimp). How awfully wrong I was!! The shrimps were mushy, sauce and beans were under-seasoned. The plate with 6 shrimps costs $18, and this is not even on a touristy street. The search for cheap authentic eats continues...

All food is freshly cooked, so waiting time can feel long until you taste this typical Dominican/Puertorrican food. Portions are awesome specially for starving folks. Attention is great, so no wonder place is packed with people.

Recommended by my friend. Good piña colada. Monfongo was a bit bland but big size shrimps. Red snapper was nice and the sauce was delicious.

So I know it says Puerto Rican food on Yelp but I have to say it should say Puerto Rican /Dominican because mangú , one of the most typical Dominican dishes, is EXCELLENT in this establishment. Wow!!! Mangú is made from broiled plantains. You may think that sounds bland but when someone really knows how to make it can be a very delicious and also a healthier alternative to Puerto Rican mofongo, which is made with fried plantains. Just make sure they do not use a lot of butter. If you do not know mangú, I will recommend to try it at this place for your first time. It was soft, tasty and dressed with cooked onions. The mangú was spectacular so only for that, this place should be known for this delightful Dominican dish. Other great dishes we really enjoyed were broiled Dorado (fish), octopus and conch salad, seafood stew with mangú, and steak with mofongo. All well prepared and tasty. Portions are on the large side so be prepared to eat or share. Service is also very good. All the ladies were very attentive. I am not completely sure about their business hours but I believe they are open until late during the weekends and sometimes they have live music. The atmosphere is very casual but everyone is super friendly. If you want good Latin food this is one of the best places in the Condado area (tourist area) with reasonable prices.

We ordered the beef, which was tender and flavorful, and more than just enough as it's quite filling. The Puerto Rican lemonade made with passion fruit was another new tickler for the tastebuds. We arrived at 11am on a Monday because that's when we thought they opened. They actually opened at 11:30am, so we were 2nd in line at 11am. Once 11:30am rolled around, the line was very long. It's an old house that was transformed into a restaurant. It's pretty big in there and they have an upstairs as well. It really feels like you're eating in a Caribbean home, from the colorful tablecloth to the things on the tables. The menu is on a board, and they have a Spanish and English version. They give you a cup of complimentary plantain soup which was amazing. We also ordered the fried cheese app which came with a delicious guava sauce. For mains, I had the fried pork with tostones and my husband had the mamposteado (corned beef, fried eggs, and rice). My husband cleaned his plate, while I took leftovers back to the hotel (which we actually ate later because it was that good). They were out of tres leches that day, so we had the coconut pudding for dessert. It was my first time trying coconut pudding and it did not disappoint! For drinks, we had the passionfruit sangria. When we left, there was a very long line outside. Despite the line, they did not rush us out. Definitely recommend and would go out of my way to come back next time I'm in PR.

There are so many spots that are authentic and incredible, but La Casita Blanca stands out in its own lane. It's gotten more popular and touristy over the years, but that's because they've stayed true to who they are. The authenticity here hasn't changed, and that's exactly why people keep coming. This is the kind of place where the menu brings you right back to your upbringing. You'll find dishes like corned beef, tostones con bacalao, and other classics that just hit differently. And the vibe? It feels like family. Someone who looks like your aunt might be cooking your food, your cousin might be serving it, and everyone treats you like you belong there. Food-wise, everything we had was fire. One of the people I was with is basically an "aguacateologist," and even he said it was one of the best he's ever had. That alone says a lot. Chuletas fried to a perfect golden crisp. The pollo fricasé (pollo guisado, if you know, you know) was on point and even came in a little pot that made it feel extra homey. Arroz con gandules? Off the hook!!!! And to top it all off, they had salsa playing in the background... which honestly had me sold the moment I walked in. Disclaimer/Warning; There will be a line!!! And if you're lucky enough to get a table, sit back and enjoy every second of it.

Since I've always seen the long lines outside this store when I passed by, we decided that we try to go in as soon as it opened. So, we lined up around 11:30am. We barely waited much and we got seated. The server that day was quick/efficient/friendly despite the fact that she was running a one woman show. And the food arrived within a decent time. My friends and I decided to order the PUERTO RICAN PLATTER with a side of a side salad. This platter comes with everything you could want & maybe something that might be a bit adventurous for you to eat like blood sausage. Despite that, it's a nice platter to share and try a bit of everything. It's really nice that if you order for 4 people, they give you exactly the amount of pieces that are divisible by 4 (so everyone can try 1-2 pieces of each thing evenly). It also comes with a decent amount of rice/pork as a supplementation, which was nice. It's a balanced meal. And I think the side salad did well to balance out all the fried foods. Overall, we really enjoyed this place. It's a great place to come with friends/families to share. It's a great place as a visitor to try a bit of everything. The platter is a great introduction of puerto rican fried finger foods. And it all taste great! From the presentation of the food to the service here, it's all good. I would recommend this place to others.

This spot we had seen on social media a ton for being famous for their Mallorca sandwich, a special type bread, we got the one with bacon & American cheese. Man, I made the mistake of doing the bacon instead of ham, overthought that deal. I tried my buddies with ham n cheese and I think that was way to go. I loved how this spot had that super old school feel of like a diner. You can sit at one of the table tops, or you can do the countertop too, which has tons of seats, we all were able to sit there. The guava pastry was good. The vanilla bread with strawberry and pineapple/lemon was okay. They looked better than they tasted in my opinion. Payment for everything would be at the cashier after dining. If you're in San Juan, this is a place to try!
