    Vegetable mofongo

Good place to try Mofongo's but wow the prices are premium. The outside will fool you to thinking you can get a cheap meal. The virgin pina colodas were the highlight. It took over 40 mins to get the mofongos even though it wasn't particularly busy. Our waiter was very nice. Our bill was over $90 for two entrées and two drinks.

I have been to Puerto Rico four times and this is the best Puerto Rican food I have ever had. First, let's talk about the service. Lény was amazing. She saw me walking by, chatted me up, invited me in to dine and the rest is history. She was so personable and so funny and really made me feel welcome. Same for the rest of the staff. They created a really light and chilled out atmosphere that was just so inviting. You can tell they genuinely enjoy working with one another. And that definitely translates over into the guest experience. The pina colada I had was hands down the best one ever. This definitely did not come from a mix in a bottle. Just unbelievably delicious. I started off with the alcapurrias. Wow. You have to get these. Perfectly fried, chewy, meaty, seasoned perfectly... If that's the only thing I ate here it would have been well worth it. I haven't had mofongo in over 15 years and I recently learned about trifongo, which is a combination of mashed sweetened and unsweetened plantain, as well as cassava. I ordered the trifongo with shrimp and steak. Oh. Wow. The flavors. The textures. Every bite was something different. At each bite was amazing. The meal little pricey, but OMG was it absolutely worth it. If you are visiting Puerto Rico, no matter where in Puerto Rico you're visiting, you must make a trip here.

The food was fine and so was the service but something about this place came across as super touristy and complacent. From start to finish, the whole experience was a bit tired. I had the chicken mofongo with garlic sauce but the chicken was dry and was a chicken breast cut up into cubes (very freezer like). The hot sauce is good. And when I asked for hot water they said they don't have any. Weird! Also a chicken mofongo costs $26! really?

This place is amazing, from the tune we walked in, exceptional service, amazing tasting food. I had the trifongo with pernil and arroz con gandules. Huge portions and very flavorful, sauce is great, we even got one to take back home.

My wife and I were in Puerto Rico for a four day vacation and saw Orozco's on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and it was nearby our resort, so we decided to try it out. It is right on the main San Juan drag and we sat down and I ordered a light lager beer and my wife got a bottle of water. They charged me $7 for a bottle of beer and three dollars for a bottle of water. Bad start. I had Mofongo the day before in Old San Juan and this was good, but I have had better. The Guy recommended shrimp empenadas were pretty good though and had some great hot dipping sauce. Nice and crispy! Not terrible, but I tried a few other better places in San Juan.

The restaurant was filled with guests and they had a saxophone player sending out jams. We ordered carne and camarones mini empanadillas and the Carne Frita mofongo (a little dry and tough) with mojitos. A very short walk from our hotel made this a convenient place to check out.

Long weekend in PR and while there I researched the best places for mofongo. Although not in the photo because I tried it two days prior was my Trifongo, which was excellent. However this meal also did not disappoint. From the apps to the dessert, all of it was delicious, savory and even better it was only a 2 min walk down the street from my hotel. Staff was great and we even had seating that allowed us to people watch while dining. I'd come back. Next time mofongo!

The mofongo is a must try! Mojitos are fresh, jazz is beautiful sounding, and great service.

A staple with a good recommendation from a solid-Guy! lol, get the hint?! This is my experience at Orozco. Service; the service was terrible. Our waiter, Carlos, rushed us and he messed up big time while taking our order. Apparently there was a couple behind us who ordered their meals and without verifying the information, Carlos hastily told us that their bill was ours. My boyfriend eventually stopped him in his tracks so that we could clear up the mess. Once that cleared up we never saw Carlos again because hey, poor service means having your waiter not check in to see whether you needed anything. Ambiance: the place is cute but the attitude of our waiter dampened the night. Food: we waited a ridiculously long time for our food and with our waiter being out of the picture, we had no idea that the dishes we selected took a long time to prepare. Eventually the food came out. My dish: Pernil Mofongo- the Mofongo was delicious as was the Pernil. Both were packed with flavor but I wouldn't say that it was the best I've ever had-I've had better. My boyfriend ordered the Kan-Kan Mofongo and his dish was also very delicious. Drinks: We ordered the mojitos and it was very mid, there wasn't enough liquor in it. Aside from poor service, I think that the food was good but not remarkable. Would I visit again or recommend? I would.

I LOVE this place, my favorite spot to eat mofongo, it never disappoints . The passion mojito is also delicious! The service is great. When we went this time there was live saxophone music, which added a nice touch.

Always an amazing experience with service and food. The authenticity of the Puerto Rican food. Definitely if you want authentic PR food please stop by to this location.

Food was good, vibe felt tourist like but locals frequent the place. Good food, had good appetizers, good beer. Overall a solid choice.

We arrived at 11am on a Monday because that's when we thought they opened. They actually opened at 11:30am, so we were 2nd in line at 11am. Once 11:30am rolled around, the line was very long. It's an old house that was transformed into a restaurant. It's pretty big in there and they have an upstairs as well. It really feels like you're eating in a Caribbean home, from the colorful tablecloth to the things on the tables. The menu is on a board, and they have a Spanish and English version. They give you a cup of complimentary plantain soup which was amazing. We also ordered the fried cheese app which came with a delicious guava sauce. For mains, I had the fried pork with tostones and my husband had the mamposteado (corned beef, fried eggs, and rice). My husband cleaned his plate, while I took leftovers back to the hotel (which we actually ate later because it was that good). They were out of tres leches that day, so we had the coconut pudding for dessert. It was my first time trying coconut pudding and it did not disappoint! For drinks, we had the passionfruit sangria. When we left, there was a very long line outside. Despite the line, they did not rush us out. Definitely recommend and would go out of my way to come back next time I'm in PR.

There are so many spots that are authentic and incredible, but La Casita Blanca stands out in its own lane. It's gotten more popular and touristy over the years, but that's because they've stayed true to who they are. The authenticity here hasn't changed, and that's exactly why people keep coming. This is the kind of place where the menu brings you right back to your upbringing. You'll find dishes like corned beef, tostones con bacalao, and other classics that just hit differently. And the vibe? It feels like family. Someone who looks like your aunt might be cooking your food, your cousin might be serving it, and everyone treats you like you belong there. Food-wise, everything we had was fire. One of the people I was with is basically an "aguacateologist," and even he said it was one of the best he's ever had. That alone says a lot. Chuletas fried to a perfect golden crisp. The pollo fricasé (pollo guisado, if you know, you know) was on point and even came in a little pot that made it feel extra homey. Arroz con gandules? Off the hook!!!! And to top it all off, they had salsa playing in the background... which honestly had me sold the moment I walked in. Disclaimer/Warning; There will be a line!!! And if you're lucky enough to get a table, sit back and enjoy every second of it.

The inside looks like a cafeteria but it stays busy. We were seated quickly although it seemed packed. They have a good amount of menu options and cross out what isn't available. They also have drink options that our server listed to us. To start, we ordered the lobster empanadas and sangria. The empanadas were delicious! Very tasty and fresh. The sangria however, was not great. It just tasted like juices that don't really work together. I couldn't taste the wine. We ordered the roasted pork and skirt steak. The steak was really tasty, and juicy. But the roasted pork was very dried and hard. It had some good bits in it but there were quite a few pieces that were too cooked to eat. The rice and beans were cooked very well. This is the perfect place for quick local food where you won't spend too much. But if you want a very high quality, I would choose elsewhere.
