This place is so great! My daughters loved the chicken empanadas so much they were fighting over the last piece. Very friendly service; will be a staple for when we are in the area.

Hidden gem in La Jolla! Empanada's are delicious and the people that work there are so lovely. Perfect for a quick & very tasty meal.

Lamb Empanada's are on point here! Real lamb!

Great tasting & filling empanadas, one of the best I've had. My favorite is the lamb, it's hard to find good lamb anywhere but here their lamb is very good. Their beef & ham & cheese ones are good too & so is their sauce, you can get spicy or regular, both times I came here they were very good. I love that they are not fried but baked & the crust is pressed tight & good & their well packed with meat. They have a good deal too, get 3 for $11.95, I don't come to La Jolla often I live in Chula Vista but for now on when I do I will go out my way to come here to get my Lamb Empanadas :)

Great empanadas as usual! This new location is in the same mini retail strip as the Taco Stand. I had a trio of empanadas: the breakfast with bacon, the corn and basil, and the monthly special, which came with cheese and onions. All the empanadas were very tasty and tasted even better with their chimichurri. The cheese and onions combination was delicious, and so was the corn and basil, which offered a touch of sweetness. The bacon and eggs empanada was very good too, but I would like to see some more bacon inside them. One thing all the three empanadas had in common was the great crust. They are baked to a golden brown and had good texture. Reheated them at home in a simple toaster oven works great or air fryer. Service is super friendly. The location has a few parking spaces in front and some inside seating.

The front window is an empanada. Cute.

Yum! We were hungry while waiting in line for Taco Stand and I'm so glad we branched out. The special (cheese, onion, and oregano) was amazing. We also tried the (ground) beef, veggie and mushroom. They were all delicious. The empanada dough was perfectly crisp at the edges and doughy with the filling. Service was amazing. This location is new and they are making an effort to get the word out. It's worth a try! We'll definitely be back for more.

There's a bunch of different eateries on Pearl Street, but there was no line and no waiting at the Empanada Kitchen on a Sunday evening. We enjoyed all of the flavors we got... mushroom and goat cheese, ham and cheese, lamb, chicken, and caprese as well as the chimichurri sauce (regular and spicy) that came on the side. The caprese was my fave. Nothing special about the crust of these empanadas, it didn't add much in terms of texture or flavor, but the ingredients inside each were really tasty. Service wasn't bad either, and indoor seating was available for us to dine in at this eatery, in a clean and casual, welcoming environment.

Love love love this spot! The empanadas are delicious, and I adore what the new owner is doing to transform the place into a cafe as well! The affogatos are scrumptious, and the music is always perfect for the vibe. The owner is so attentive, and takes care of your every need. I will be coming back!

This hidden gem behind Taco Stand and a pizzeria is a must stop! They had so many varies of empanadas, even an apple pie dessert one! We had the beef and ham and cheese ones. My husband and I absolutely loved it and we had to get more! We also tried the Italian sausage one that's a special and I love the extra spice it had- so yummy! Loved the chimichurri sauce, so much that we got a bottle to go! We don't live near by but when we come to visit La Jolla, we will definitely be back! A delicious gem!

Beef with chili churn mild on the side.

The empanadas tasted great I love the beef. The chili choir sauce was a great mix not too spicy. The service was fast and the cashier person was very helpful. Very quiet and welcoming.

Yum! Pretty tasty empanadas. Crispy texture and they don't skimp on the filling. My family grabbed a few empanadas while waiting in line for The Taco Stand. We got the Ham & Cheese, Ratatouille, and Caprese. All were flavored well and came out piping hot! I was surprised the caprese was really creamy, but overall delicious. The Ham & Cheese and Ratatouille were exactly what you'd expect.

The food was fresh, flavorful, and authentic, and the drinks were excellent. The staff really made our celebration enjoyable. Everyone was enthusiastic, engaging, and attentive to our group, and they created a fun and welcoming atmosphere for both birthdays. The only downside was that it was extremely hot inside the restaurant. It definitely made things a little uncomfortable and better A/C or airflow would have made the experience even better. Overall, we had a great time celebrating. The combination of authentic food, great drinks, and an awesome staff made it a memorable birthday dinner. We'll definitely be back!

The other day, I got the tri tip sandwich with chimichurri. The order came up quickly. I live a couple of blocks away. By the time I was home, the sandwich was cold. Not lukewarm, not tepid, but cold. But the REALLY disturbing thing was the bun/bread. It fell apart, into large chunks, the minute I opened the paper wrap up. A sandwich has two major components, BREAD and the filler. Can't you have decent fresh bread? This seems to be a challenge lately for the Grand Ole BBQ. A couple of months ago, I got the hot links, and they were served on the most run of the mill, grocery store quality, HAMBURGER bun. LINKS, folks, should be on a hot dog shaped bun, not cut up into small pieces and placed on a cheap, round, bun. I can't decide if this is hipsters, serving food and doing it their way, with whatever happens to be available at the moment, or if this is management saying "we don't care about your expectations." It isn't novel, to put links on a hamburger bun, it doesn't make it artsy, or unique, it makes it look like an afterthought. So does try-tip on a bun that wasn't. And the chimichurri- driest, almost oil-free chimichurri I've ever had, I had to add oil, at home, to be able to spread it. Good chimichurri isn't difficult, I make it all of the time. Make an effort people. Restaurant are closing. Disregarding your customer is one quicker way to meet that end.

I love empanadas and have had these empanadas before when at Pacific Beach open market…read more I kind of stumbled on this place and immediately I knew I wanted some empanadas! Empanadas are stuffed turnovers, originally from Spain and Portugal, and eaten widely across South America, including Argentina, Paraguay and also eaten in Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Phillipines too. They are a delight and delicious! This spot is an Argentinian place and I got 3 empanadas. They have many different stuffed options and I chose a beef, mushroom and spinach as my three. I asked how spicy the spicy beef one is and the very nice lady working said it was about 5/10, so I passed. She said it wad spicy, unfortunately, I cannot handle too spicy. So far, I have eaten the beef and spinach one and like them both. I was given chimichurri sauce, but I dont think I like this version, its a little too lemony for me. I like a more parsley forward chimichurri and this one too sour for me. For 3 empanadas, it was about $11, which isnt too bad! The empanadas are delicious and I will def be back again and again!!

I prefer the spinach, mushroom and beef empanadas. I tried the Malbec beef but it was too mushy and sweet for me. I'll stick with the traditional one, with olives. I lived in S.
