I've tried this place twice. I enjoy the chicken empanada and spicy chicken. If you're going for the spicy chicken, be aware that it is very spicy. Both times that I've been here. It's the same young lady very nice and willing to make a patty if one is not readily available. After seeing the road signs I decided to make a stop here. The shop isn't much to look at yet, they are still pretty new to this location. They do have a few small tables with chairs too dine-in. We received a friendly greeting I tried the beef and spicy chicken empanadas since that was what was available and both were delicious. The counter person advised that her mom makes them fresh in the back all day so if there was any flavor I wanted I could call it in next time! First of all, if you don't know what an 'empanada' is, and don't think you've ever had one before, then just know that an empanada is merely a hand-pie that has more of a Latin spin to it than some of the more well known cousins to it like a Cornish Pasty or even a Pot Pie (which is similar dough and filling but baked in a sort of pie tin. Empanadas can be either fried or baked and both are delicious, but I prefer the baked ones, and that's the kind that they serve here. The empanadas here come in a variety of flavors and some are savory (meat and veg or just vegetarian...and some are sweet and more dessert like. If you want a good first time experience...or a better empanada than you've had in the past, this is the place to come. This little shop is tucked away in a small center at a crazy traffic intersection but it's honestly worth risking your life to get here. Why? Well, once inside, you'll be greeted by a lovely young lady named "Simone"...she takes care of the front of the house while her mother takes care of the back of the house, or kitchen. Don't expect any fine dining style art and décor...they spend their effort and budget on making the best empanadas you can find...IF you can find your favorite flavor, that is, because they do a brisk take out business and sell out fairly early in the day...even so, fresh ones will likely be coming from the kitchen, if you can stand the waiting...best to call ahead and place an order (and buy more than what you'll eat because these babies hold up really well and reheat easily. Why did I take the time to write this glowing review? Because we really need these small 'mom and daughter' places to be there when we have a craving that can't be easily filled anywhere else. Recently relocated to this current location, I'm hoping that readers here will seek them out and give them a try...then, you'll be hooked! Once you try their empanadas, you'll discover that the crust is so light and flaky and melts in your mouth while the filling marries so perfectly with the vehicle of delivery: i.e. the crust. Oh, and speaking of vehicles, these are great to eat in the car but make sure you have a bib or a few napkins on hand because they are just that flaky. I knew it was going to be a wonderful experience from my initial phone call to place an order. The owner was professional, courteous, and provided information about the various flavors. Upon arrival, the empanadas were hot and ready. The restaurant was extremely clean with a couple of tables available for dine in. All of the empanadas were absolutely delicious. You can tell they were handmade with fresh ingredients and cooked with love. On the way out I got the banana pudding which was a very smart decision as it was exceptional. My huge regret is not stuffing myself with more empanadas and banana pudding. Next time I am visiting from Japan it will be my first stop. My wife, my daughter, and I got take-out from here yesterday. Awesome empanadas! My mom made empanadas when I was growing up. Sorry mom, these are way better! Careful though if you don't like spicy food. I'm not sure if we were given the wrong empanadas or if all of the chicken ones are supposed to be spicy. We ordered chicken, spicy chicken, beef, and spicy beef. I love spice so I enjoyed them all and so did my daughter. My wife, however, wanted plain chicken, but it was too spicy for her.
