Have been seeing Emily for years now for at least annual appointments. She takes ample time to get to roots of challenges - sits down with me for an hour which is unheard of for physicians- and gives a full range of information to empower and guide my choices as a consumer. Not to mention she authentically walks the walk. When I had an insurance mixup and mistakingly visited without any insurance, the office billed me with a fair flat out of pocket rate for the careful time spent with me. As someone passionate about research and health and wellness, she restored my faith in the medical realm and has been a consistent ally along my health and healing journey. read more

I have been going to see Dr. Emily Lindner for about a year now. She was referred to me by family. Dr. Lindner is the by far the ABSOLUTE BEST doctor I have gone to see. Her office is cozy and calming, without the buzz of a reception desk. Cady, Dr. Lindner's therapy dog frequents the office, she is the sweetest. The one-on-one attention is wonderful and unmatched. From the time I sit down in her office I feel like she is engaged in everything I say and really hears me. She is thoughtful and kind. Dr. Lindner's education shines through when offering suggestions to my various issues. She is very insightful. When I leave her office I feel more educated about myself, and my issue(s). I leave with a plan to go forward. I can not say enough about Dr. Lindner and recommend her to everyone. read more

REALLY BAD. She was TEXTING during the entire appointment!! Imagine disclosing your personal issues to someone being PAID to listen to them and they're just more interested in discussing their own life and texting away so loudly you can HEAR them!!! Seriously disrespectful, unprofessional, and would NEVER recommend someone like this. read more

Best doctor in Chicago!!!!! I had really bad adrenal fatigue, and after going to multiple doctors who had absolutely no clue about it, Dr. Lindner figured it out right away and taught me how to treat it. She also gave me excellent nutritional advice, and taught me the risks of GMO's and flu shots. She definitely has the latest information and cutting edge research. She is an MD but is very knowledgeable in nutrition, vitamins, and a holistic lifestyle. read more

I booked an appointment with Dr. Lindner after a year of treating my recently diagnosed hypothyroidism with another doctor. It's been a full year of not feeling normal and frustration at not understanding what was going on with my body due, in part, to a lack of information from my previous doctor. During my first visit with Dr. Lindner she patiently listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. She asked me about all aspects of my body and how I've been feeling, and helped me to see how all my symptoms were connected (even the ones that wouldn't typically be associated with a thyroid problem). She recommended I get some blood tests (so we could get the full picture of what my situation is) and also that I spend the next week detoxing with a limited diet (to see how my body would react). I returned a week later already feeling a difference from the detox! During my follow up visit, we reviewed my test results and she was able to further clarify what was happening with my body and why, including a new diagnosis. She answered my questions, she made recommendations and she tried to help me find ways to make her recommendations work with my lifestyle. I'm a week and a half into this new lifestyle now and I can honestly say I feel like a new person already. I finally know what's happening in my body and I know what I can do to make it better. I can't explain what a big deal this is for me and how much I appreciate Dr. Lindner's patience and transparency in helping me to get here. I can't wait to see where this goes as I continue to work with her over time! read more

Although her yelp profile lists her under "dermatology", I've seen her under her title as "holllistic medicine". I have referred some of my friends to her who are very conservative with their thoughts and in hindsight they were not ready to hear her message. I was ready to hear her message and it was outstanding for me. Knowledgeable in a variety of "Natural" and Western Medicines she is now my primary care giver. I'm amazed as to how good I feel all the time. I never use to get sick but went through a very stressful period in my life.... within a year I was on 5 different prescriptions. She was able to identify the root of all my ailments and within two years I was off all the medications that Western Medicine had me on. She is a nationally recognized physician and I am truly grateful to have such a great caregiver. read more

I went to her after being diagnosed with IgG deficiency where the treatment was not helping. I saw many top specialists at NorthWestern Memorial hospital that were stumped at what was wrong with me. I was told that I would die of Sepsis if I wasn't getting these 4 hour injections every 4 weeks. After spending an hour and a half this doctor was able to connect all my medical problems, explain them and give me a plan. For 5 months I haven't had any injections and I haven't gotten sick! I did do all the changes she suggested. My body feels more balanced, I even don't get menstrual cramps. This is amazing after dealing with endometriosis my whole life. What amazes me more about this doctor is that she really cares to make her patients better. read more

I just googled Dr. Lindner to find her. She's my primary care physician and I was going to refer her to a friend. Dr. Lindner is Eastern and a Western trained board certified physician. She's committed to healthcare. Eastern philosophy believes the patient is the authority on their own body. That is so normal! When I see Dr. Lindner we create a plan for diet, exercise and health care management together. I enjoy each time I see her. I weigh more than the charts say I should. Since I have no other health problems and am active Dr. Lindner is not concerned. This is true also for people who weigh less than the chart says you should. The chart is only once piece of information. If you are committed to living a healthy lifestyle focusing on mind, body and spirt and I can't recommend Dr. Lindner highly enough. read more

As a cancer survivor most doctors won't discuss hormone treatment with me. Most of your systems are out of whack because of the chemo/radiation. Sleep is a big issue. Dr Emily gives conservative help in that arena and has been a huge advantage. read more

Read this whole account before booking! This doctor is bizarre. Claimed to be in network and was not. Forced me to take off my shoes and wear booties. Tried to get me to wear some old slippers. She was preoccupied with TWO cell phones throughout the appointment, which included reading a news event to me and complaining about another patient who was texting her. She suddenly shouted "My car!" when I was mid-sentence and suddenly left the room. When she returned she complained about her parking meter running out. A few times I almost just left. She did not do any exam. Later I was sent a $500 bill which included an exam....She returned my voicemail about the bill around 8pm on a Thursday night and then told me she was too tired to discuss finances....I asked her why she called me and didn't wait until the next day. She claimed she was in network. I informed her she is not. She said she cuts deals with her cash patients but since she's too tired I have to call her biller directly. I called her biller the next day who was completely rude, defensive and mean. She initially insisted they are in network. When informed no, she said "why would we reduce our price when we can see other people for full price. Why would we make room for people like you?" When I expressed confusion informing her that I was just repeating what Lindner said and questioned what was billed, ie. Exam that never happened she then told me that she was probably administering psychotherapy. She said "she was administering psychotherapy and you just didn't realize it". First of all this was an initial visit not for mental health. Secondly, she did not realize that I am a psychologist who bills insurance for my service, so I informed her first that she did not do psychotherapy or bill for psychotherapy and second that she had better not be doing psychotherapy without patients consent. She then began arguing asking me what I wanted to pay. I told her that I'm happy to pay but not 500$ for an Interrupted 45 min visit. It was like she was literally throwing a fit over the phone when I was just looking for answers. Nothing was resolved on that call. She was incredibly irate and I was astounded! I tried calling the doc back and never heard back. Amazing!! Avoid if possible. read more

Dr Lindner is the most caring doctor I've ever been to. She literally saved my life. I would recommend her to anyone. I saw the post from the guy who didn't like her office and I can say two things. I appreciate that she has low overhead so I'm not charged for a receptionist, etc. and she has always been on time for my appointments., He missed out. I have seen Dr Lindner for 9 years and have received exceptional healthcare. read more

If you want a caring, honest and truly talented physician then see Dr. Lindner. I have been going to her for a quite a while now and each time I see her I appreciate even more the way she approaches my heath and well-being. Dr. Lindner spends an significant amount of time with you, truly engaging with you to understand what makes you tick as well as the particular reason you are seeking care. She ensures that you fully understand her diagnosis and the options for treatment if appropriate. What really has impressed me over time is the way that she treats the full you - by that I mean it's not just about a symptom, but getting at the basic cause. I have realied on her counseling to improve my knowledge and outlook on staying healthy and trust her implicity. I highly recommend Dr. Lindner. read more

I went in for an appointment the last week of June for essentially a consultation. There was no exam, no blood pressure taken, nothing. We just talked for an hour. I knew going into it that she was out of network. At the end of the appointment she asked "do you want me to bill this as wellness?" I said "I guess". I wasn't sure why she was billing to my insurance or what it even meant to bill as "wellness" as opposed to something else. A few days later I get a notification saying the claim went through as "medical", not wellness, and she charged me $525 which is more than my mother was charged for a specialist at the Mayo Clinic. I left a voicemail. She said she would rebill it as wellness. It's been weeks and nothing has gone through insurance. I left 3 voicemails 2 weeks ago asking why I got charged so much and if I could receive a superbill to see how much she charges for services and I have yet to receive a call back. I was supposed to have a followup last week but I cancelled it since I hadn't heard back. This is beyond frustrating especially when I thought I finally found a doctor that cared and didn't try to just throw prescription slips at me. Disappointed to say the least. read more

I found Dr. Lindner through a random search for functional medicine specialists after visiting another practice in the area who stopped taking my insurance, and who frankly, was very busy and didn't provide a lot of one-on-one attention. I am so glad I found Dr. Em! She is the most compassionate doctor I have ever seen/met! Couple of things to note: -She is extremely knowledgeable on alternative therapies, but doesn't shy away from pharmaceuticals if they are needed. -Her office is like hanging out in her living room. It's very comfortable. The opposite of sterile, which is what you typically find in conventional doctors' offices. Is it wrong that I want to bring a bottle of wine with me to my appointments? Ha! :) -Her therapy dog, who is the most gentle creative you will ever meet, hangs out during each of my appointments. I love it. -I finally feel like I have a true health advocate on my side, who is always looking out for my best interests. -My overall physical and mental health have improved immensely since seeing her. I highly recommend Dr. Em to everyone. read more

Dr. Linder thinks outside the box, which is great. However, she didn't offer much help to me and I had to call her several times to find out my own blood test results. Then, when I asked her to send them to me by text for my records, she sent me one result without the reference ranges (so useless) and the results for another patient. I immediately texted back and asked for the other test I had done (and not the other persons) and she never responded. read more

I have consulted with Dr. Lindner for several years. She is simply amazing and I intend on remaining her patient well into the future. I've read many of her very positive reviews and cannot agree more. As to the negative June 22nd review, I actually like the fact that Dr. Lindner has no receptionist - the office is more intimate and relaxing - somehow I feel Dr. Lindner is more intensely focused on my session than I might feel with a receptionist in the background. I have never known Dr. Lindner to be late. I really appreciate her intensity and ability to help me focus on the steps required to move forward. Thanks for your efforts and thank you for being available Dr. Lindner! read more

BEST DOC EVER!!!! I've suffered from Hashimoto's disease for 5 years. My Thyroid was getting more problematic every year and at the end of 2013 I felt so ill, and so desperate, that I started a search for a doctor who could help me. I went to THREE MD's specializing in Endocrinology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and all of them were terrible. They didn't want to treat me as a patient or a person; they just wanted to treat my symptoms with drugs that provided temporary relief. I knew I wasn't getting good care; they would talk AT me and not WITH me, they made pronouncements about my health and they didn't even know me, I felt like a lab rat with no voice and no one to listen. In hindsight they have no freaking clue what they're doing or how to help their patients, incredibly disappointing that such a large hospital doesn't have adequately trained MD's. After years of frustration I was finally referred to Dr. Lindner and she has completely changed my life. She is a true doctor not just some med school moron with a big name hospital behind her and a prescription pad in hand. She gets to the root of the problem and the symptoms course correct from there. My autoimmune disease has been treated by diet, supplements and supporting health care (Acupuncture and Chiropractic therapy) from Dr. Ashley Frer. I can't even begin to describe how my quality of life has improved by seeing a doctor who takes the time to listen to me, educate me on my disease, provide resources to help me manage the issue and doesn't have the bottom line ($$$$!) in mind when treating me. She isn't in this for the money, she's is truly dedicated to healing people. If you decide to see Dr. Lindner you should be warned that her style of treatment is effective BUT you will have to be accountable for sticking to the plan she gives you. In my case this meant a dairy free, soy free, gluten free diet for 12 weeks. If I had known that removing these items from my diet would help turn my disease around I would have done it 5 years ago. I also take a bunch of supplements which have made a HUGE difference. She's a doc that you find once in a lifetime. And I should mention the added bonus of Arcadia, her therapy dog, who is occasionally in my sessions :) Not only am I getting the best treatment and care from the doc but I also get to snuggle a cute furry too! Perfect!!! read more

Dr Lindner is a exceptionally knowledgeable, wise, and caring doctor, with a strong patient centric approach. The reason I have chosen to see Dr Lindner for over 12 years is because of her approach to discover the root of the medical issue, treat appropriately, and not over-treat like so many doctors. She is smart, intuitive ,kind and genuinely cares about you being well and staying that way. She is a natural and dedicated healer and teacher who takes time to explain and empower the patient to be part of their overall wellness. In todays complicated and competitive healthcare environment I would highly recommend Dr Linder. read more
