I was a patient of Dr Wallner's for many years until a few things went wrong that I couldn't get past. These experiences caused me to lose my confidence in her. She gave me a Pap smear while I was having my period, which I knew would skew my results. At the time, I questioned her, she told me my fears were unfounded & not to worry. It was perfectly fine to do a Pap smear while I was having my period period. She then called me saying that based on my Pap smear results, I needed a uterus biopsy. I went to my OB/GYN, who told me she never should have done a Pap smear while I was having my period. Thousand of dollars later after a very painful biopsy of my uterus, I found out that I was fine and it was all unnecessary because of the Pap smear during my period. I went back to Dr Wallner and told her what my OB/GYN said & the results of my uterus biopsy, and she bristled and was very irritated. She does not like to be questioned. I also went in for a physical and didn't even undress. It was a 10 minute procedure and she was very cold and short with me. I did not feel like it was thorough physical compared to others I have had previously,. No breast exam, etc. She also referred me to a terrible cardiologist, who would not listen to me. I ended up going to the ER on my own against her advice and found out I my fears were founded after an angiogram showed I had heart disease. read more

Dr Wallner gives wonderful, thoughtful, well informed care. She is a kind person, very thorough and always ready to respond to a health issue. Nothing is more important than a smart experienced doctor who cares. read more

Dr. Wallner has great bed-side manner, she actually listens and tries to figure out the issue and not try to blow over how one feels. So glad she is my doctor. Her receptionist/assistant could take some pointers. It took me over 3 weeks to get an appointment because she is too busy to listen to voicemail (her words exactly). Then tells me Dr. Wallner is busy with other patients and I have to wait till the end of the day for my prescription order to be sent (these are being sent online to the pharmacy, my appointment ended around 9am) - I have NEVER seen a doctor who prescribed medications and were sent so late in the day, especially for a sick patients! You are working for a doctor who deals with sick patients - learn some customer service skills! Also, not returning voice mail message, not taking your phone off forward and not answering the other line with your standard greeting is very un-professional. Being courtesy is a must not a nice to have. read more

I am a huge fan of Dr. Wallner - she is straight to the point, explains everything, and everyone in the office is friendly. I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful doctor I'm comfortable around, and who actually listens! read more

I love Dr Wallner. I've been seeing her on an annual basis for about 10 years or more. She's direct and kind, and is a true health professional. It's easy to be open and honest with her. Her key point to good health is good diet and exercise. read more

Dr. Wallner is by far the best doctor ever!!!! Her office is always willing to schedule me at the last minute for urgent issues and it takes me longer to get there and back from work than it does for my appointment which makes it great to do during a lunch break. She always starts with free med samples, then generic and then finally the real prescription because she is totally in tune with what the healthcare industry is in the US. She is also very hands on (she takes your blood pressure and everything else, not an assistant) and even tells you when her hands are cold! I have never waited more than 5 minutes after checking in with the receptionist for my appointment and my prescriptions are always immediately called in. I see her for everything and as a woman, that means EVERYTHING! read more

Elisabeth I Wallner, MD - Doctors Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

She is the best doctor that I have ever had....she remembers not only be but my partner as well. She always makes sure that I am up to date on everything that I might need with my job as far as health concerns....I truly am lucky to have found her! As far as on time....I have NEVER had to wait for her...I walk in and get checked in......when i sit down to get onto the wifi they are calling me back before I can connect! And yes you see a nurse...but within 5 mins Dr. Wallner is there to help you... One time I was having an asthma flare up....I walked into the office (with an appointment of course) and went to the desk to checkin....she heard me and came to the door before I even said anything to the check in desk and said "I hear you Greg...come on back..." Now that is service!!! read more

Today was my first visit with Dr. Wallner after my partner recommended her from his first visit. We just moved to Chicago and we were really nervous about how long it would take to find an amazing doctor like the one we had in Houston. You can imagine how relieved we were when we didn't have to look any further than Dr. Wallner. The staff at Dr. Wallner's office are very nice and helpful. I came in fifteen minutes ahead of my scheduled appointment time and was promptly helped. We were the only patients in the waiting room so getting to the back was very quick and the wait to see Dr. Wallner was probably ten minutes at the very most. We covered all the basics and she explained everything she was doing. There were no surprises and everything I had to do today Dr. Wallner gave a thorough explanation as to "why". Good bed-side manner is important to us but what we get here is GREAT bed-side manner. I look forward to the many years ahead with Dr. Wallner and I highly recommend her and her staff to anyone in search for a good doctor. read more

Dr. Wallner is the best internal medicine doctor that I have ever experienced. She is thorough, thoughtful, she listens, and she explains everything very clearly. I am a very critical, smart-ass, type patient too. So, this is a very high compliment that still does not do Dr. Wallner justice. I trust Dr. Wallner completely. read more

I very rarely post to yelp but I realized today that Dr. Wallner also deserves my comments. I most likely know Dr Wallner for about 20 years and went to her for any issues, real or imagined :-), when I lived in Chicago. And every time I came to her she treated me with care, interest, respect and took time for me and listened about my worries. I referred everyone I know to her since then, friends or people I know and as far as I know, they all are still patients of Dr. Wallner. 10 years ago I left Chicago to Florida and even so I am distant I make it a point to be in Chicago for a check-up. I even told my wife should I ever have a serious issue I like to be flown to her and the care of Northwestern Hospital. I can only speak highly of her and will always make her my most loved doctor. read more

She's not accepting new patients unfortunately. Two of her phone staff said that they would refer me to another doctor but on both occasions, these ladies hung up on me. Why do such nice and highly rated doctors have such poorly trained and rude staff? read more

I called to set up appt, never received a call back. Called back late in the day and was met with a bristly receptionist asking me if I was a patient, I replied I was not and had been recommended by a friend. I was cut off and told she is not accepting new patients, immediately followed by a demand to know what sort of insurance I have. Dumbfounded by her rude rebuttal and brusqueness, I asked why she was asking about my insurance if Dr Wallner wasn't accepting new patients...She snapped back that they 'only take PPO'. I said I had PPO but again, was confused why she was asking if Dr Wallner wasn't accepting new patients. I was told she was a PRIVATE PHYSICIAN - which I found confusing, I'm a PRIVATE PERSON - what does that even mean?? I let her know the website with her info said otherwise, that she was accepting new patients - to which she responded 'well that's wrong'... I have no doubt if a small percentage of Dr Wallner's rave reviews are true, she would be mortified to know the treatment a potential patient received at the hands of a surly, rude receptionist who seemed to imply I wasn't good enough even though I am fortunate enough to have great insurance. What a complete turn off - I will be spreading the word. read more

Dr. Wallner has been my Doctor for many years. She listens very carefully to all my complaints. When I told her I had a headache and neck pain, she didnt assume i was a whiner, like my rush ortho guy did and ordered my life saving head scan. oops, very big brain aneurysm, so i am still here to bug her on a regular basis. Dr. Wallner and her staff are fabulous. i am a Rush trained nurse and love love them. it is too nad some peoples expectations are unrealistic. If all doctors were like Dr. Wallner, this world would be a much better, healthier, place. big hug to her and her staff. my husband thanks her too:) read more

I thought Dr. Wallner was incredibly nice and kind. She has a good sense of humor which relieves tension. However, she speaks very fast and I found it difficult to keep up. (This was especially true when she was kind enough to call me with some test results. She spoke so fast on the phone that after asking her to slow down twice I gave up.) She also wrote orders for some additional tests which would have cost me a fortune. I was unclear as to why I needed them. The physical (which was the reason I came in) was super quick. (I'm a nurse.) Additionally, trying to get my bill straight was strangely hard for what seemed like a very routine visit. read more

Dr Elisabeth Wallner is one of the first Internists I've gone to that I trust the way I could trust my physician father. Dr. Wallner is not just a marvelous medical doctor, with the intelligence, experience, and sensitivities to be a superb diagnostician, Dr. Wallner is old school, and believes in patient care as well as medical care. Dr. Wallner cares about her patients, makes herself available after hours, and gives advice and comfort beyond what the current fear of liability concerns has instilled in most doctors. And Dr. Wallner does all of this while maintaining a much more humane approach to her practice (life generally? :) ), eg the office is open 8 hours a day, and closed for lunch. My family and I are lucky to have her as our Internist. read more

Dr. Wallner is an exemplary physician. She works tirelessly to support the well being of her patients. She takes her time to address each patient's needs. She provides impeccable care going as far as to provide her cell phone at one point for a critical need. She personally calls with test results and recommendations, often during evening and weekend hours. In addition, Dr. Wallner has a well-established collaborative network of medical specialists, i.e. cardiologist, oncologist, etc. She maintains close contact with the patient and specialists to coordinate and plan for the medical needs of the patient. She was my parents' physician for many years, as a result, I felt compelled to see her as my own physician due to her consistent, no nonsense approach in providing the best high quality healthcare possible. read more

I did not realize she already had reviews on Yelp. Why didn't I think of starting a review myself? I am so glad someone else had. I have had many doctors throughout the years. I absolutely love Dr. Wallner! It is more than obvious as soon as you go into your scheduled appointment that she has read your file. She knows what she had done in the past and is very attentive to your current concerns. She doesn't make you feel like your time is limited. She is a wonderful doctor. read more

Absolutely my favorite doctor ever! Great personality, thorough, always provides explanations, always accommodating.

I am extremely happy to have Dr. Wallner as my physician. She is very kind and thorough with every examination. I highly recommend her to anyone interested in modern yet old fashioned caring and service. She is truly a gem in the world of medicine. read more

Dr. Wallner has been my and my family's physician for 12 years. I often wonder what good deed I must have done in this world to have found such a brilliant and wonderful doctor. On the professional front, it boggles the mind in terms of her knowledge and capability to treat your maladies. There isn't one issue we've had that she wasn't able to diagnose almost immediately, from your basic day to day issues with weight, blood pressure, diabetic concerns, cholesterol concerns, ear infections, etc. to more individual areas such as shingles, bursitis, injuries, prostate concerns and menopausal issues. If she deems fit, she will refer you to a specialist, all of whom we have trusted because they got the Dr. Wallner seal of approval. Dr. Wallner suggested that my husband start routine prostate exams with a urologist. There was no specific reason. Dr. Wallner just thought it was time for him to begin screenings, as she always has your welfare in mind, as if you are part of her own family. My husband was reluctant to have this exam since he hadn't ever had one and knew what it entailed. Dr. Wallner stressed he was at the age to do so, so of course, since we consider her word to be the last word, my husband went to have his screening. With no symptoms of any kind, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer but because Dr. Wallner kindly pushed for him to go, the cancer was in its earliest stages and completely treatable. Now he is the loudest supporter for prostate screenings, telling anyone who will listen that it's a simple blood test and 5 second exam and those 5 seconds can save your life. We consider Dr. Wallner to be an extended part of our family. There isn't a time that she doesn't try her level best to help you to the fullest. She has a bedside manner that is from a bygone era. We always leave her office feeling everything is right with the world as we know she is helping us to live our lives to the fullest and in good health. She really cares that we do just that. We literally trust her with our lives. Last but not least is her staff. These ladies are just great! If you leave a message, they call you back asap but most times I'm able to reach them directly. They are so quick to accommodate with appointments or getting messages to Dr. Wallner for whatever reasons you called, most being resolved that very day. You can see they are very well-trained in their positions and that builds a trust. They are friendly and kind. It's important when you go into your doctor's office to have the faces that greet you make you feel relaxed and at ease. Also, it's nice to hear them speak of Dr. Wallner with high praise. This tells me that Dr. Wallner treats her staff with respect, but of course I would expect nothing less from the doctor I've known and trusted for 12 years. I always tell Dr. Wallner that she can never retire because I think it's safe to say, she's irreplaceable. read more

Doctor Wallner is maybe my favorite doctor I've ever visited. She's kind, professional, caring, and thorough. Seriously, the best. One morning this past December, I was having some pretty extreme stomach pain (couldn't hold anything down since the night before, got zero sleep) and I called her office as soon as they opened up to see if she could squeeze me in. I didn't want to overreact by heading straight to the ER. The receptionist called me right back after checking with her and said Doctor Wallner would see me over her lunch break. I went in, she took one look at me and could tell I was in some awful distress. She took my blood pressure and did a physical exam. Then she sent me down to the ER to get hydrated and to do some further tests. Turns out I had appendicitis, like she thought. I've actually been experiencing these pains for about two years every few months, but just riding them out, thinking it was food poisoning or something else basic. Dude, chronic appendicitis - look it up, it's a thing. I'm so glad she made time to see me. Otherwise there's no telling how much longer I would have suffered. Thanks, Dr Wallner, you rock. Thanks for saving my life (or at least my quality of life). I will never see another doc in Chicago. read more

Dr. Wallner is the best Doctor I have ever had. She explains everything but listens very carefully when I talk. I love her!!

Me and my grown children have been seeing Dr. Elisabeth Wallner for years. Honestly, she is THE BEST doctor ever. The vast expertise, wisdom and personal kindness she shares with her patients is phenomenal! Amazing doctor and caring human being, who really listens and spends time with her patients.

I must say that Dr Wallner is by far the best Dr I have ever had. She is very attentive and accommodating when I need to see her. Besides the fact that she has a wonderful demeanor, she is also very thorough and has a large amount of knowledge it multiple areas. I have often been surprised on how accurate she is. I don't know about you but many times I have seen an internist--they just toss you around to other Dr.s because they can't help you......Dr Wallner has never passed me off and when any testing is done she is immediately calling with results and recommendations. Anyone who has the opportunity to have her as their internist will be completely satisfied in all areas. Her staff is very friendly and prompt when providing service. and wait time is minimal. read more

I am newly back in Chicago and was a little intimidated about finding a doctor. I had a few referrals but found a lot are not taking new patients or their information on the internet was not correct about their specialties. I found Dr. Wallner in the listings for my insurance. I work downtown, so I figured I could cab there. When I got there I filled out the standard paperwork and got right in after that. She was very thorough as I was a new patient and she spent about 45 minutes on the full appointment. That is unheard of. Most doctors get you in and put you out pretty quickly. She did everything including taking my blood pressure and called me personally with all test results. She did not have a nurse do it. That was great, because I had a couple of questions that she answered over the phone. I can't express how great she was!! She made me very comfortable and was very knowledgeable. She is now stuck with me. read more
