This practice used to be great. My early experiences circa 2019 were excellent. As soon as they…read moreconverted to MACC (CCH) things went downhill quickly. First, I was told I was no longer able to see physicians at this practice and would be required to select a new GP. My new GP was a 70 year old doctor at North Street whose solution to everything was to throw pills at me. After my first 6 months he decided he was going to retire and only worked 2 1/2 days a week. I was given the option of a new GP which I chose. My new GP was located at Strawberry Hill. It took 6 months to schedule with her. She lasted less than a year and quit. For 14 months I had no GP. Now a new GP has bern assigned and voila! he is at the Station Ave facility which is 2 miles from my house. This is infinitely better than the 20 mins it took to go to Hyannis. But wait! It gets better. My new GP met with me for orientation med review etc. Filled my scripts including my ADHD meds that I e taken for over 20 years. Upon my second visit, he had completely forgotten that we met, was generally acting like a 25 year old idiot telling me disgusting stories of his kidney surgery and then proceeded to tell me that he was cutting back my ADHD script by 67% that 'this is the best I can do for you'... are we cutting some sort of back room drug deal? Umm no. You're not qualified to make that determination, and you are not allowed to alter a 20 year old stabilized treatment plan. No sir, that will not work for me. Then I was systematically dehumanized, made to feel like I was treated like a drug addict, forced to sign a two page narcotics use contract that read like I had just been paroled from prison on drug charges, I was referred to an ADHD psychiatrist for re-evaluation (who happens to be a pediatric physician) and get this - he told me straight up 'I'm not writing your scripts for this anymore, and I'll write for two weeks and then you're on your own'. I was also forced to comply with random urinalysis screening that attempt to disqualify people from receiving care involving controlled substances. I went to execute the required labs at Quest, which is what I chose. The doctor conveniently changed the lab work to MACC's internal lab. Well now, looks like WAR it is after all. Nothing like being treated like a drug seeking junkie to make you realize your value as a human being or patient at MACC f.k.a. Emerald Physicians. Incidentally, my 20 year compliance record is SPOTLESS in terms of use, and I have decades of records to prove it, including 3 years of records with CCH, which MACC is part of now. I have never felt so denigrated, de-humanized and offended in my life. Jonathan Berg, you don't deserve to practice medicine here or anywhere. When you made my care about your agenda and not my treatment or health, you lost my respect permanently. Emerald Physicians/MACC has good doctors and excellent PA's and nurses. You're just not one of them. It is impossible to establish treatment/care relationships with any of the Doctors there that you'd want to see, as none have accepted new patients in many years. CCH continues to hire physicians who are in the business of medicine, vs. the care of patients. The physicians who try to care for their patients leave because the entire system is setup is toxic. Even the receptionists are pissed off and rude. I can't recommend this practice. If you don't need referrals, CCH Clinics are quite good.

I just returned from a visit to Dr Riad's office precipitated by some unexpected rectal bleeding…read morethat came on today. I am overwhelmed by gratitude for having chosen him to be my primary six months ago. And here is why. I walked into his office in physical distress and was immediately greeted by his new front desk employee, Eileen. She found a time slot to squeeze me in that was only a 20 minute wait. 20 minutes! Walking in off the street. She was kind, compassionate and on the ball in mobilizing the staff to address my acute needs. And I learned she has only been there a week! Wowzers! Secondly, the supporting staff in that office are amazing. Clara, Cynthia, and Robin were all working in a whirlwind of "busy" and none missed a beat in showing kindness and a genuine concern for everyone there. Double Wowzers! Thirdly, Riad himself. He made himself available for me on this impromptu visit and gave me as much time as I needed to share the relevant information behind my medical issue, never rushing me. I love that he is unafraid to bring faith and God into any conversation because let's face it, people, there is SO much in life greater than we can understand. Riad treated me with compassion, suggestions and 2 immediate referrals who contacted me within 1 hour after visit. The prescriptions I needed were texted me by CVS even before I left the visit. Triple Wowzers! Finally, a staff member named David called me 1 hour after the visit to check in on the referrals and ask how I was. His demeanor over the phone, his questions, his responses, everything...on point! Quadruple Wowzers! This is an all star team at this practice and I could not be more grateful for having become a patient there.

Dr. Riad is kind, brilliant and if you get to know him, has a great faith and a great sense of humor. I suspect that whoever writes negative reviews of Drs., in such a violent style, has a negative life to start. A way too angry person. Thank you Dr. Riad for your dedication and knowledge. Once again drs and nurses were great, I just wanted a yes no and left. I've been here a handful of times before for different issues, I'm actually a stroke survivor and have multiple disabilities. I have a very low quality of life and my good days are a rarity. I had to *wait* 3 months till I was okay enough to go in, which happened to be today. I felt very uncomfortable with the way the staff in the waiting room phrased "WHY are you on medicare?" Please teach your staff to please not word things like that, it felt unprofessional and concerning. I didn't want to go off on a tangent of all my medical history, disabilities, or for me to say I'm disabled and for them to go you don't LOOK disabled. It felt like one of those you know? And an urgent care is the last place that should be doing stuff like that. It was worse when they didn't even let me answer immediately and guessed and said did you have an emergency at work? Old people aren't the only ones on medicare...and if you don't want to use medicare use my masshealth. :/ I have severe anxiety on top of conditions that spike with stress, and out of all my problems I was just like "I have a bladder disease." bc it's one of my worst ones, the severity level both pain and symptoms gets extreme and i have a very rare subtype of the disease. And after saying that I felt embarrassed for mentioning something so personal. But saying "I'm a stroke survivor with ------" long list of conditions that fluctuate, It was just....odd. I felt like I was being looked down on, and maybe that is my anxiety. But it was still super uncomfortable. Would've felt better if they said 'ah the system is asking WHY you are on this insurance" but even still that's strange? If it's not working just have me contact my insurance and speak privately...it just felt so personal and a weird thing to ask someone who's just going in to be checked for something.
